1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Narae/Narin 43/44cm Mini Discussion Part 7

Apr 9, 2018

    1. I don't normally have characters/stories for my dolls.

btw how bout 40s and 416 difference? :D
Though I notice for 40s, the left eye is smaller slightly compared to the right eye.

    2. Here's a strange question for anyone who received the Dandelion heads in the cedar box. Did the heads smell like cedar at all? (concerned due to allergies)

Do you think Bimong would sell just the resized to 6.5" original Dandelion head? Where could I ask him?

    3. I don't think there was any odor on the heads frrom the cefar box. Even the box doesn't bother me.

I don't think he will sell the heads separately but it should fairly easy to get a split partner.

He answers private messages on Instagram quickly.

    4. Thank you, @nancy_schroeder_ca!

I didn't think about looking for a split partner. I'll consider that!

    5. My Dandelion heads didn't smell like cedar. As @nancy_schroeder_ca said, even the box doesn't really smell.

    6. Here's another post to keep the thread alive!

      Let's talk shoe options!

I am pretty confident that I can sew whatever clothing I need (provided I can find the fabrics), and I can make simple shoes, but I have a weakness for gorgeous little shoes, especially laced shoes and boots.

In my travels around DOA I saw a thread for MNF and other slim mini shoes, so I'll check that out. But I note that most of the 1/4 shoes on Alice's Collection are made for a 6cm inner length, as are quite a few on Etsy. Some are for 6.5cm, and the Narae foot is 5.5cm.

This photo on Flickr makes it look like the MNF and Narae feet are about the same size:
      Feet Comparison

      Does that help?

Any thoughts from Narae owners? (Classic and new bodies)

      Thank you!

    7. I have heard minifee shoes fit the best, or do a search for slim msd shoes. I only have a couple pair of msd boots, which I bought for my DollsTown minis. I can't find them at the moment because the room & dresser I stored my doll clothing has been re-purposed and I have boxes everywhere! Since my Narae with the new body is studying ballet I was concentrating on making ballet slippers and pointe shoes. I've bought the material; that is as far as I have gotten!

    8. Minifee flats work. American model 22" heels work on the classic heeled feet. I can't help with the new body unfortunately.

    9. Thank you, everyone!

If I can't find any Victorian boots made for Minifee, I'll probably have to make some. But I'm experimenting with making shoes anyway.

@coleen - @wenniebjd on Instagram found some ballet pointe shoes made as keyring decorations that fit the new body!
Wendy on Instagram: “The shoes fit! ‍♂️ This is big, this is really big. I've been trying to put together a slim-MSD ballerina since day 1 in the hobby, but…”

I think these are the shoes she means (but you might ask her or check through her previous posts, where she mentions wanting to buy more):
      https://nydancestore.com/accessories/key-rings.html

I also found these, which are really pretty, but I'm not sure what size:
So Danca Mini Pointe Shoe Keyring - Move Dancewear®

Maybe this will be helpful for your little ballerina? :)

    10. @StellaMarigold thanks for the info. It doesn't give the size, and I've already got 2 pair that are way too big. Since I've got the material already, I think I'll got ahead. If it doesn't turn out I can always try these. I bookmarked the site!

    11. I'm not sure if the new body has a different size feet, but the classic Narae wears Bluefairy tiny fairy shoes beautifully. They're a bit pricey but amazing quality, with a number of colour options and they look nice and slim on the Narae feet. Not chunky like most 1/4 shoes do Here's my girl wearing the lace up heels in cloud. Just make sure you don't get the ones for stiletto or tiptoe feet, because they're too high for the Narae to stand properly, so you're left with the very few flats and boots in the selection. The feet fit fine in the heeled shoes too but the ankle doesn't bend enough to stay in a comfortable position for balancing. Not sure if the new body has a better ankle, though, or a bigger heel feet than the classic one that would not be too small for the tiptoe and stiletto shoes...

On a different note: Has anyone bought any hard cap alpaca wigs made for MNF (cause that's all anyone makes ready to sell) and tried them on their Naraes? I know the head sizes are somewhat similar, but the headshape is different, so I haven't dared to try, as the wigs are expensive and hard caps don't usually have a lot of wiggle room. If yes, how do they fit? Who's the maker and are they loose or do they float on the head (I'm mainly concerned about gapping in the forehead area)?
Any help would be appreciated. :3

    12. @Yenna I have one hardcap wig that came with a Souldoll Vito that fits MNF (Mirwen) and Elfdoll lovelydoll, so it's that kind of bigger size head that can share it, and it doesn't fit Narae unfortunately. I don't know who the maker is, as it came with the Vito that I purchased secondhand.

@StellaMarigold I would definately buy shoes specifically meant for slim mini's like MNF Narae or Unoa, regular MSD shoes look chunky on Narae, to my eyes at least. Most of the shoes I have are DaleRae's but they have not been available for years now, so that is not much help, sorry.

I am so wanting to get into this last order, get a head to hybrid later when I have more cash, but am concerned about resinmatches, or the lack of it. I keep pouring over ownerpics and the NS makes me nervous. I can find very few comparison pics but the ones I saw seem to suggest it is very light, very different from more regular NS. I was wondering wether it might match Unoa fresh skin? Or maybe Supia NS? Does anyone have an idea about that?

    13. It's so sad and hard to make a decision for this last order.

    14. It is close to Supia NS. This is Supia Sujin on the new Narae body

    15. Wow that looks very good Nancy_Schroeder_ca, that is very helpful. I would love a Supia someday so a hybrid with that body would be lovely! Thank you!

I agree it is sad and difficult to make a decision for this order, it's hard to see Bimong quit, and the idea of an artist not being able to make his art anymore is very sad. I hope his hand will get a bit better if he uses it less intensely. I find it hard to think of this as a final goodbye, I sort of keep hoping that he might be back in a few years but maybe that's wishful thinking. Narae was the doll that made me fall head over heels with this hobby so yeah, I cannot really imagine it well without him.

    16. I think it's worth remembering that this is just one part of Bimong's work. He's still going to be making art, just different art. As an artist myself, I know it's a matter of when not if the wrists become an issue, so I'm happy for him that he's got such diverse interests.

      Still not sure if I can/will be ordering this time. I'm feeling a bit full-up on dolls, but Naraes are my favorites... Better make a decision soon haha. ^^;

Re: shoes, marblemoon on Etsy can make flats for naraes.

Edit to add: I also think some people are misunderstanding. He's discontinuing a lot of things, but he still plans to do some work on heads and parts in the future. He just needs a break and to put some of the current projects behind him.

    17. I thought that might be the case... I do wonder if it's the same with all makers though, and especially the ones made specifically for a MNF. I know, I could always commission a wig, but ready made ones would sometimes just be so much easier. Then again, I've never been a big fan of the hard cap ones, so I might commission someone for a stretch cap later... I've missed out on some really amazing wigs because they've been made for MNFs and I've been too scared to try if they'd fit any of my mini girls (likely not).

I'm definitely getting a doll from this order, but I'm now debating whether to also get an extra head (I love that new very cat-eyed Narin) and in what colour. =__=;; I have no character for him, but I might never be able to get him again if I don't do it now, so...

And one more thing about the BF shoes, if anyone is still afraid that they are chunky, because I sure had that idea as BF dolls themselves are a bit childlike. Here's a photo with the tassel heel (top row, far right) next to a regular MSD size shoe. Those particular Iple boots in the bottom row are also a slimmer fit on Naraes, and I used to use them on a MNF when I still had one. I just don't know if any of their current shoes are as slim. I also have a pair of Angell Studio shoes that are nice and slim on a Narae and mine tends to wear them most of the time. But they're no longer on the site. Still, some of the flats might be on the slimmer side. Some shoes are clearly chunkier in their selection than others, so they might also be worth looking into -with some caution.

    18. @Yenna: I tried hard cap Alpaca wigs for Minifee by belachixdollworld, they don't fit. They're too big overall, so even with a silicone wigcap there would still be a visible gap all around the head I think.

    19. I'm starting to get anxious about May 15!

Will Bimong announce the exact time the preorder opens on Pinterest or Facebook? I don't want to miss ordering early!

I'm almost sure about what I would like to order. I'm just undecided about skin color - Pinky White or Normal. I would really like the very pale option, but I'm not sure if it is very pink. Also, Normal seems better for hybrids and for selling any extra parts I don't love (I might order an extra head).

    20. I would like to try the pinky white but most of my "new" dolls are normal and it would allow more swapping of parts!
