1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. During that same time, the Italian Fascist Regime had the same cut in their uniform. O.o They didn't carry the Nazi swastika. They did have a pins, colors and other things though, to symbolize their allegiance.
Just saying...Especially if you just want a similar uniform that is still authentic in it's own rights. Not fantasy.

I believe, if you are going to do it, be mindful and ready to explain your reasoning. Be aware of posting images, and use appropriate tags. Like the other posts have stated, this is a very fine line, and you need to be aware and able to handle the repercussions about this matter.

What may be fun to some, is horrendous to others, unfortunately. That part of history was awful. Just be careful, and have fun with your doll.

    2. I'd say if you're just going after the H.Boss uniform style, and you want to post the photos in a mainstream forum, then do the uniform and skip the insignia.

But if you want to do the full insignia & a detailed rendition, you'd be better off posting the photos in a specialized forum-- for historical costuming, or war dolls/figures, or uniform-fetish, or whatever. Someplace where you know the audience is prepared to view, understand, & react appropriately to whatever you're bringing. This is a sensitive thing, so picking your audience carefully is important.

That is true; it was an attendee's table at a Dolpa in Japan.
Some years ago, Volks themselves did release a very brownshirt-y SD13 uniform, which got quickly pulled after international outcry. Up till that point I don't think it occurred to them to consider international offense. Presumably stemming from Japan's history as an Axis power, it's fairly common to see the casual use of swastikas in Japanese fashion, the way you'd use a skull or crucifix. (I originally typed "surprisingly common" there-- however, I suspect it was only surprising to me and my visiting American eyes, and not surprising to them at all.)

    3. After all, this is basically what George Lucas did with the Imperial troops in Star Wars-- you see references to WW2 uniforms everywhere. Darth Vader's helmet is basically a Stahlhelm crossed with a samurai kabuto + a gas mask-influenced mengu.

Then again, the overuse and lazyness of the "Putting On The Reich" trope to signal that a certain faction is Bad with a capital B and You Should Not Feel Bad About Killin' Natzis is left as an exercise to the reader. Here it's not that this is in bad taste, it is that as a narrative device it has been overused to the point of cliché.

    4. As someone whose grandfathers fought against the Nazis in WWII, I think such dolls are in bad taste. But there are a lot of things in the BJD world that fit in that category, so personally, I am more amused than offended.

    5. I am from Germany and I hate this part of my country's past. Nobody needs to be reminded of it all the time. Seeing Nazi themed dolls would be an absolute no-go, honestly...
