1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

"Never to be sold again"

Nov 22, 2008

    1. So true. But I thought I was too old and wily a cowgirl to be tricked by the thundering of zombie hooves. :doh

Now I find myself wanting to break into a chorus of "Ghost Riders in the Sky" . . .

    2. This topic reminds me of a sermon I once heard ages ago (when I was brought to a friends church). The Reverend asked the congregation "If someone bestows upon you a gift at Christmas, and you don't use it. And then the next year you give it to someone else who you know could use it, is it right? Does the gift belong to the person who gave it to you, or does it belong to you because you were given it?"

All in all, I feel that if the doll was mine, and I didn't want it, and I knew someone else could appreciate it more, it's mine. it was given to me, I can do whatever I want with it. And personally, I would rather sell it, or give it away, rather than let it sit there and rot, and/or potentially get destroyed through day-to-day life or a moving escapade.

    3. When I give or recive a gift, it is the present owners right to resell or do whatever they want. When a company gives a doll away, there isn't much they can do about the new owner reselling the doll. I think it depends on how much the gift was something you wanted or would buy yourself.

    4. Well, if I really want the doll badly, I would get it.

If I really needed the money and have no choice but to sell my doll, I would do it too.

As much as I understand the sentiments behind such such "no resale" policy, I find such policy rather unreasonable.

    5. It's really impractical I think... because sometimes in our lives no matter really how much it may hurt or we may miss them an emergency will happen and sometimes selling a doll is the only tangible way to get back enough money to cover even some of it.. It terrible to have to do it I'm sure.. but we do have to live.. as much as I'm sure the companies would love their dolls to stay with their original owner we all know it isn't always practical or even achievable due to many circumstances.

    6. If a company gave a doll to somebody as a gift, I think it would be more respectable if, when that person no longer wanted it, they passed it on as a gift too. But people like to make money off of things, I guess.

I don't think it's a company's business what a person does with their dolls. Or their gifts, whatever. But I do think it's silly if you got something for free, to turn around and make a killing off of it. Still, that's how the world works and there really isn't anything wrong with it.
