1. I had purchased 2 dolls in the first year after making my account here. Both were new.
2. I purchased 3 dolls in 2010 as my maximum.
3. I own 11 BJD
4. I have nothing currently on order.
5. I sold one doll, gave away one doll, and sold a couple small accessories and clothing articles that aren't worth noting.

 

Q. How many new/or second hand dolls did you buy in your first year of doll collecting?
A: I got 7 Dolls in my first year of collecting, of which 2 were gifts and only 1 was secondhand

Q. Which year was the year you bought the most dolls?
A: 2020, I ended up gaining 10 dolls that year. 1 was ordered the previous year, 2 were trades, and 4 were gifted to me (including the doll ordered the previous year)

Q. How many dolls are currently in your collection?
A: 44 full dolls.

Q. How many dolls are you waiting for to arrive or paying off?
A: I am waiting on a head, a body, and a full doll. The body I just pre-ordered this past week, so it won't arrive til late spring next year.

Q. How many dolls or doll related items did you sell off or plan to sell off?
A: So far I have rehomed and/or 16 dolls, heads, and bodies, I have one more head to offload that I do not care for. I won't count event dolls I never planned on keeping, or accessories such as clothes, eyes, or wigs, otherwise it just gets too much to count.

Bonus Answer: I've been in the hobby since May 2011.

2021. Even though I joined the hobby 8 years ago, I was not very active untill 2020.

None. The last doll arrived in the beginning of Sep. But I'm searching for a female doll so I guess I'll get a new family member sooner or later...

I sold only one full doll, one separate body and two separate heads. As for clothes/accessories, there are too many items on the list. My dolls get more new clothes than I do, so I have a bunch of items that do not fit them.

One new doll and a second-hand doll head to replace the one that came with the body of the first one.

I've bought and sold many things since I started like a couple of bodies, one head, a handful of clothes... Right now I don't plan on selling anything.

Probably this year (2022).

Four full dolls. Three yosds (probably my favourite size at the moment) and an 1/8th doll. One SD head who’s getting a body very soon.

Embarrassed to admit but I’m waiting on 6 Full dolls. Two I’ve been waiting over a year for and two are about to come home next month. You can see who in my signature.

I sold quite a lot. Three full dolls, three heads and quite a lot of clothes and accessories.

Well, I got Ara, Nova, Tian Ni, and put in my order for Suha in 2021. I also got an OT doll I keep with my on-topic BJDs.

Probably last year, as detailed above, though more arrived this year. (Suha was a Christmas order and came in this summer.)

Six on-topic BJDs, two OT ones (wrong material/jointing on one, the other one... ehhh the rules explicitly state it could be on-topic but has been lumped in with the artist's other off-topics for now).

None! Thank goodness. I'm running out of room in my cabinet and for some reason I keep getting dolls that don't want to stand, which doesn't help with the space issue.

None right now. I've waffled a bit on selling a doll or two, but it seems like a hassle and, with some tweaks, I'm happy with said dolls now. I might get rid of the spare wigs and eyes at some point, though.

In the year I got my first doll I bought only her.

I have never bought more than one doll at a time but if we're counting dolls that were gifted then 2017~2018 and the answer is 2.

I'm waiting on a body to arrive (stuck in customs) and am terrified of debt so paying off nothing.

None. I might get rid of some props since the doll space has gotten smaller but still haven't had time to really settle that.

That was a long time ago (2006), but I believe it was 3, all purchased second-hand as I recall.

Definitely 2020…the pandemic had most of us stranded at home and faced with how fragile life could be, so I worked hard to bring home as many of my characters as I could. I purchased 7 that year, which was very unusual for me.

49…over the years, my average has been about 3 dolls per year. But after so many years in the hobby, it really adds up!

Just like most of my years in this hobby, I managed to put 3 dolls in layaway this year.

I haven’t sold anything in years since I refined my personal aesthetic. Prior to that, I probably sold 6-8 dolls while I learned what did and did not work for me. I’ve never sold any clothes, wigs or accessories.

I bought 3 dolls my first year collecting in 2007, and I sold the first one to pay for the third when several months of trying didn’t make him into what I wanted to be. So by the end of my first year collecting I had 2 dolls.

Q. Which year was the year you bought the most dolls?

I’ve been in the hobby for a long time, and I tend to sell off dolls pretty often to make space for new ones when my tastes change, so there really isn’t a year I can pinpoint where I bought so much more than others. I did notice a spike during a year when we had a couple of deaths in the family, but in the end the volume was more about how I couldn’t make up my mind about how I wanted to shell a character (thus buying lots of candidates and then having to sell them when it didn’t work out) than about acquiring more dolls.

Q. How many dolls are currently in your collection?

I don’t know! My wife and I roughly own around 30 together, but I’d have to go upstairs and count to be absolutely sure of the exact number and it doesn’t matter to me that much. Enough to fill a cabinet.

Just one; a pet doll for one of my favorite boys.

LOL it’s been a lot. If I don’t play with a doll or I want to reshell them, I sell them to someone who will give them more attention. Unused clothing is moved on too. It’s more because I can’t bring myself to throw out anything BJD related than it is about making money off the clothing. Like… someone could use that!

I have a giant bag of eyes I don’t use though because I find they’re just not worth the effort of listing for what I’d make off them. I should start chucking them in packages with other items as freebies.

 

I've been ~lurking since 2006/7 but actually started collecting in 2008 and then took a long, long break from 2009-2018 and then another mini one until 2021.

I bought two, a new and second hand doll. Both dolls are still with me today! I bought a floating head too but that's not with me as I ended up selling it.

If we're counting a doll body in the 'dolls' part then it would be this year with four.

There are 10 at home with me that I consider 'complete' dolls or are complete enough that they only need little tweaks here and there for me to be happy, like maybe a new set of eyes or shoes, or something small like that. When the dolls I'm waiting for arrive, I might have 13-14 depending on if I decide to keep the body or not!

I'm waiting for three full dolls and one body. I actually just finished my layaway for two dolls and the body this month so I'm in the antsy 'any day now' stage even if I know better, lol!

I really didn't plan to sell anything! Or no dolls at least. I've sold a few pieces of clothing and a CP Vampire Breakaway '08 head that I'm now kicking myself for because the me of today would have wanted that head! In the future, I have one doll that I go back and forth on when I think about him and then when I take him out of his box, I don't want to sell him so... I'm at a standstill with that. I'm also not sure about the body I'm waiting on if I want it for the idea I have or if I just want to sell it but, then again that feels like a waste to me because I've been waiting for it! Decisions, decisions, I guess!

Just 1 in 2012, she was new, and the only doll I had until 2017.

Which year was the year you bought the most dolls?
2020 I bought 5 Dolls.
I wanted to mod a dreaming head from a limited head and put it and the normal limited head on the same body that wasn't an option so I bought THREE dolls for one doll(one for each head, and one for the body I wanted) … and also two other full dolls. Thank the lord for layaway.

How many dolls are currently in your collection?
Just 6
8 if you count pet dolls under 12cm but since they are kind of off topic I generally don't consider them in my doll count

How many dolls are you waiting for to arrive or paying off?
None! Though I do have half of 3 out for Faceup and Body Blushing right now.

How many dolls or doll related items did you sell off or plan to sell off?
I sold off the bodies that came with the heads mentioned above. I also have a Pegasus body I'm not using I plan to sell soonish. I sell wigs and clothes I no longer use pretty often, all sales fund new dolls / replenish my doll savings.

2, new - but both were tinies and the cost was split between myself and my then-friend now-wife, so I wasn't all in.

Probably this year actually Bought 3 full dolls and have a 4th on order.

11, though two is a floating head since I haven't found a good opportunity to buy the body I want for those. Starting to reach the ends of my wishlist so I don't expect to break ~15 total.

Just the one from above, though I plan to buy another head in December if the company sticks with their rerelease plan. He is paid off, so only waiting on production.

So far I've only sold one body since my plan for the hybrid changed. To speak plainly I find selling items is a complete pain in the ass for all hobbies and only make purchases I plan to keep around as much as possible.

To the best of my recollection, just the one, in 2007.

This year. Got one of my layaways from last year and found five bodies for floating heads. It's been crazy!

One that will be paid off in January. A body I just put on layaway and I intend to layaway another body here soon.

To date, I have sold exactly one doll and one head. Dolls move in, they don't move out. I'm doing some body shifting though, so that may change in the near future.

BJD? Absolutely zero! Started collecting dolls as an adult in 2008, wanted a BJD since at least 2009 but I didn't actually buy any until 2014. That was also the only doll I bought that year. She was new/direct from company.

2020. I bought 3 dolls (new) but only one actually came home that year. The other two didn't arrive until 2021. I also bought around 6 off topic ones that year too, making the grand total 9 dolls.

This year I went a little crazy with off topic playline dolls, and so far I've bought 10 dolls, one being a second hand bjd, technically making 2022 the year I bought the most dolls (so far!) since starting to collect. Fingers crossed I have some self control next year lol

I have 7 dolls (2 of which are off topic I think - Aimerai Yeti & Doll Chateau Arnold)

Q. How many dolls are you waiting for to arrive or paying off?
At the moment, zero. Will probably remain that way until at least January of 2023.

Q. How many dolls or doll related items did you sell off or plan to sell off?
I've sold/traded two pairs of shoes that were too small for my 1/4 girl and one pretty handmade corset set. That was years ago though (like 2014 and 2016).

Ideally, there's a few more unused clothing and shoes for 1/4 size that I'd like to sell, but who knows when that will happen. I really hate selling things online, but would 100% bring that stuff to a meetup to try and sell if any happen in the near future.
