Oceanmoon Hwa-Lan!

I'm wondering... I'm thinking of trying a Domuya body. I know there's one in the market right now, so I asked them if it matched Volks since OM is close to Volks. ^^ I'm hoping it is, and I read that it was during my researching, I think. XD Or do you think that body would be too big...? I can't find the measurements. D:

 

I was cruising Mint on Card last night and ran across the Looong Soul dolls again. At the bottom they had a photo matchup of their skin against Volks and in the pictures I couldn't really see a difference. Oceanmoon also is supposed to match Volks very closely and does in real life, so I'm looking in that direction for a match up. The body, in the company pictures, *appears* to pose well and they sell if separately so no having to buy a head I don't need.

 

So, I emailed a dealer about OM and LM resin matches, because I noticed they carried both... This is the answer I got!

Domuya Flexi-body is ... challenging to play with. It would be a good size though.
Good to know the LM body won't match, and I can keep looking.

Hmmm... Looooongsoul.... Too bad that new 73cm body would be far too big for him.

 

That 73cm body is something special isn't it? Way too beefcake for my characters though. I'm going to start saving for the Looong Soul SD body, unless someone beats me to it and finds that they don't match.

 

Aernath;; is it difficult? O: Hmm... I think I'm gonna go for it anyway, just so he can have a body sooner rather than later. XD If I don't like it, I can always find another use for it. /SHOT

Definitely not perfect match, but it doesn't look too bad! And his head doesn't look too small with the wig on. 8D

 

From here that looks like a pretty good match, Katnekochan. How does it look in person? Pretty close?

 

Is that white skin?

 

Roulette;; Hmm... Well, it's rather noticeable, the body is more yellow than the head. But the body is yellowed, from my understanding. XD I tried to look inside of his body to check the match more (I looked inside his hand LOLLL...), but I couldn't get a good picture or really a good look. It was pinker in there, though. XD

Well, dang, all put together, he looks just fine resin-wise, but looks like you're getting the same thing I did with the Iple resin matching: photographing differently with the headcap on belly shots.
I need to take more Iple/Hwa-Lan photos... I'm such a lazy butt!

I'm still wondering about what kind of face-up I am gonna give him... Does he have an epic frown or what? I wonder if it's possible at all to paint him as though he is smirking.... XDDDDD

 

I think a smirk is totally possible! Just a tiny up-tick on the edge of one side of his mouth, with the line you use for between the lips should do it.
I think he's already got the smirk there, just don't draw the lip line as far out on the opposite side of the smirk. His lips/mouth shape already goes down, then at the very edges, tips back up. Just lightly emphasize that on one side, and not on the other. I think it will be great!

 

Omigosh, you're totally right! I think that would make a perfect little smirk on his gorgeous face. Whee, thank you for the tips! When I get around to working on him, I'm totally going to do that! 3

Urg. Going back to school tomorrow. I'm coming home on the weekends to work, buuut... I can't drive. So I'm only going to be working on him on weekends!

 

I haven't started on his face-up yet, but his body is on it's way home! 3 I'll be sure to show you guys when it arrives.

 

Hello all! I also have a Hwa-Lan! I ordered him this past November in NS with a face up. I loved him since I first saw him and knew I had to have him lol as I think many of you felt. Still have no body for him yet though, he's going to be a big project... also still debating which body ^^;

 

Hello hello! 33 Picking a body is hard. D; I'm scared that when I get home to try my Hwa-Lan on the body I bought for him (It just arrived today and I'm not there, but I am going back tomorrow!! ) it won't fit... I saw it posed nicely, but I heard it's not a very good beginner body. o xo; /beginner

And if the resin doesn't match... AUGH. XD

Hi Omiko *waves* He's got such a wonderful face doesn't he? I bought one of each makeup style available. I have to be truthful, I like him with the 1st edition special makeup best. (It's the gold eyelashes, I swear)

We've posted some pictures of different bodies with his head in our own attempts to find bodies for him. Katnekochan is trying a Domuya and once I get the money, my bet is on a Looong Soul. I think right now, Aernath has settled hers on a Volks body she already had. Not sure how long that will last.

Roulette;; I'll post pictures tomorrow, and I'll have a box opening thread for the body~ XD; The head is a good size, but the body is muuuch more yellow. I think it's just the age, though. Ah. I'll just have to blush his head to match, I guess! Ha ha.

 

Katnekochan - I plan on making him my OC named Ookai He'll have one red eye and the other is half blue and half green. His hair is a flopped over black and white striped mohawk that never gets put up and his ears are lined with piercings as well as snake bites and a nose piercing with a chain from his nose to his ear (yea....) and then he has LOTS of tattoos on his body and one on his face which im hoping my uncle will do for me (he's a tattoo artist lol) I'd love to do the piercing stuff myself since if I have someone else do it, it'll cost a lot but I dont really trust myself ._.;

Roulette - He does, I LOVE it. I'm hoping I picked the right sculpt for Ookai but if the Hwa-Lan head doesn't work out for him... i'll have a new OC to mess with <w<

And I saw the thread but for some reason the pictures wouldn't load or anything D: I'll have to try again. I'm holding onto a friends doll which is a Migidoll Ryu on a Domuya body (they have pretty boxes) and I was thinking about trying out the Hwa-Lan head on it but I figured the head might be too small, but if its a good match... someone might have to steal it till she gets her doll lol

edit: though I DO like that DIM body pic above... also love DoD bodies... those are to die for >W<
