Only really liking one company?

Jan 3, 2015

    1. I have 6 dolls and everyone is from diferent companies, even the dolls in my wishlist are from diferent places, so i think i can not stay just with one company, i like the variety in the hobby n.n

    2. Fairly new to the hobby me too, but I can't seem to stand away from Iplehouse, I already have two (one new and one second hand that was a really occasion for me), and I have another one in wishlist. The Exception is a Luts, a Honey Delf, because I fell in love with Pie and it's perfect for a character I want to shell.

    3. I don't prefer one company because there isn't one out there of which I like everything. And I like to mix things up as well. ^^
      But I do have more dollzone dolls than any other. ^^;

    4. Even though I have doll(part)s from 9 different companies, for faces I tend to go back to Volks every time. For my collection, I'm partial to old-school dolls from 2007 and before, and I'm not too fond of CP dolls, so I don't think it's that big a surprise that I have several Volks' dolls.

    5. I think anyone who limits themselves to one company to have a uniformed collection... are plain silly. Yes, sue me, I am more than open to understanding that this is what they want and good for them and enjoying their collection... but I still think it's silly. People come in all shapes and sizes and so non-uniformed collections make a lot more sense -to me-. That and personally I value variety and the fact that my dolls must stand out from one another as individual existences and characters... so no, although I'm partial to some companies (Luts and Fairyland with Crobidoll and Soom being easy runner-ups) I like having dolls from all sorts of places.

    6. I think you could have a one you prefer. But ome compagny can propose a doll you like but originally you dislike their styles.

    7. Oh, it's not that I want my collection to look uniform or something. It's just that, for quite a while now, Volks dolls are simply those that capture me the most. I've even grown to love the two Volks sculpts I liked less at first: Mark and Link. I got both here now and they're excellent proof for what a huge difference an beautiful face-up can make.

    8. I only like soom, all my dolls come from soom,I really like the face and the body ,I think I fall my love into the doll of soom

    9. I like dolls from many different companies. My favourite companies are Resinsoul, IMPL and Souldoll, for various different reasons.

I currently have 18 Resinsoul dolls (well...17 and a floating head), which is nearly 2/3 of my collection, so I guess I could say Resinsoul is my "favourite". It's the fantasy colours that I find most attractive about Resinsoul.

    10. My first doll was a pukifee and I have another pukifee on the way. I've had dolls from Withdoll before and I have a Peak's Woods doll on the way. The Withdoll tinies were cute, but not for me. I want to expand away from Fairyland, but I keep getting drawn back to them. I'm already eyeing another Fairyland doll. ^^; I do like dolls from other companies, but it's usually only one or two sculpts, whereas with Fairyland I like many of their sculpts.

    11. I'm pretty new to the hobby and found I like my dolls from different companies. The most I have is two from the same company. But it does make sense to stick with one company if they have what you're looking for in a sculpt and they are a good quality. :)

    12. I personally like a broad variety of companies, and currently have dolls or parts of dolls from 17 different companies. Of 27 total dolls, however, 10 are from FairyLand and 12 are Cerberus Project sculpts (the two Delfs are from Luts, but still the same sculptor, so I group them together). It's a pretty strong majority, considering the next largest representation currently is 2 (soon to be 3).

I certainly wouldn't say I only like CP/Fairyland, but I definitely have a bit of a bias toward them, and do tend to go look at their sculpts and new releases on a regular basis.

    13. Iplehouse is one of my favorite stores, but not the only one.
I like large dolls, more realistic and brawny bodies... Fairyland, Soom, RingDoll and IOS are my favorites.

    14. I got into this hobby because of Doll Chateau and so far I have no desire to branch out unless the Popovy Sisters start mass producing their insect themed dolls. Everything else just seems boring to me, even the fantasy dolls:/

    15. I'm very partial to VOLKS, most of their dolls are simply part of an aesthetic that I find the most pleasing (and the F-01 is my absolute favorite BJD), but I also like other companies that have a completely different aesthetic like Doll Chateau.
I'm not very concerned with keeping a "cohesive" collection and I like variety so I do plan to have at least one doll from another company at some point but I do see how someone could stick to only one company for their collection, maybe they do like other companies' dolls but not as something they themselves would like to own.

    16. Of the 16 dolls I can see from where I'm sitting right now, only 2 of them aren't from Luts or Fairyland - so, yes, I have to confess to having a very definite leaning towards those two companies. They're also the ones I keep going back to.

Their sculpts might look overly similar to some, and I have to confess that I've even got multiples of certain dolls, but they still all look different to me and - personally - I wouldn't swap my collection for anything.

I've had dolls from other companies before, and I certainly like the look of a lot of other companies dolls ( especially Iplehouse), but I know that they're not for me.

(After three years of not having any interest in the dolls or the hobby, it was a new Delf from Luts that called me back - so if that doesn't prove loyalty then I don't know what would!)

    17. I like variety but sometimes I like a company so much that I end up with many of their dolls (I'm looking at you Soom..) so I can't help to have many sculpts from one company. My SDs are actually from everywhere (Switch, CP, Rosettadoll, mysticKids etc) my MSDs are also pretty mixed and most of them are hybrids except for my 1/6 dolls...they are all from Soom...I just love Soom teenies ~.~

    18. When I first joined the hobby, I would see a lot of people having dolls from CP and Volks exclusively and I wondered if I would ever like a company that much to literally jump on every doll of theirs that came out. I was sure that after three years in the hobby I wouldn't find any company for awhile that caught my eye enough to be considered my hands down favorite.

But then Switch comes along, and I am completely sure I will try and get as many sculpts of theirs I can get my skinny hands on. I actually enjoy the idea of owning a majority of Switch dolls but I'm not sure I feel that way about any other company.

For me I want variety...as well as Switch. I aim to get as many Switch as I can, but that might be the only company I can share that sentiment with. So I can understand people both sides of the spectrum in a sense ^^

    19. I have 11 on topic dolls and five of them are from Fairyland. Three of those are Minifees. Even though I have so many from the same company, they come in several sizes and my three MNF have different bodies, legs, busts sizes, and hands, so there is still a lot of variety among them. That's what I love about Fairyland, as well as their aesthetics and pose-ability. Honestly, I don't consider them my favorite because I don't feel that I have one, but I guess my collection says otherwise! At the very least, I can say that they are one of the few companies that I keep an eye on.

    20. I only have three dolls right now, two from Luts and one floating head from Migidoll... But I do have to say that out of all companies I simply love Peakswoods and Migidoll more than any other company. Their dolls are just so amazingly beautiful in my opinion, and highly customisable as well. ^^ Dolls that I really feel no connection towards must be the ones from Fairyland. I think they're pretty dull and I just don't like the sculpts at all, no matter how they're dressed. It's just a personal preference though, and maybe prejudiced because I've never seen one in real life.
