Only really liking one company?

Jan 3, 2015

    1. I love variety so I don't think I could stick with just one company.

    2. I like a fair few companies but it's becoming pretty obvious that I have a great amount of love for JIDs which surpasses my love for my other dolls by miles. Something about them really clicks with me. I could quite happily just collect JIDs.

I do however like to have a bit of variety as others have said, so I have dolls from various companies. I just prefer my JIDs xD

    3. Not really, but I think I prefer it for doll partners to be from the same company because I think that's the best way to ensure similar aesthetics. I'm wary of mixing and matching... I kind of want to get a 1/3 Mystic Kids and 1/3 Luts, but I'm worried about the outcome.

    4. I pick dolls with larger than average head sizes and with pouty or cutesy looks :) that way they all go together and look like part of a family. My girls are from several different companies but they all look like they could be sisters! I am very partial to Luts CP Delfs.

    5. Personally, I'm very picky with the sculpt of a doll. The face is what draws me in first, and if I have any niggling doubts then i don't really look much further into the company.

The first company I fell in love with was RingDoll. The boys the sculpt are gorgeous in my eyes, so it wasn't much of a surprise that I fell in love with one in particular so quickly. After that I wanted to look around a bit, and I started to like the body styles of DC. However since I'm so picky about eye and mouth shape, I'm still on the fence about wanting a DC Bella in the far far faaaaar future, no matter how much I love the body sculpt.

I also did a bit of searching amongst lesser known brands, which is how I came across the girl I have on the way. Her eye shape was perfect for me, and the size, despite somewhat big, was everything I was looking for, though I think the faceup helped draw me in a lot. All I'm a little worried about now is the leg shape, since I like a little bit of curve/ muscle definition on girl legs (much like DC despite how thin they are) so the lack of shape on some girls legs have put me off before.

    6. When I first began collecting I wanted to ensure that all my dolls came from the same company, or at the very least didn't have the same bodies. Still, I was very carefully to only pick sculpts that blend well together as I like a cohesive look, and I like to think (minus my Glorydoll since he's a little on the small side but the aesthetics are still there) they all look like they could come from the same place.

But as time went on, I definitely grew to love one company, DIMDoll, more than the rest. Now, all the rest of my wishlist dolls are from there and I don't think I'd have a problem sticking to them from now on. However, I've stuck to my guns about the no duplicate body rule. In that case I'm less picky and will venture to any company that fits my needs and budget.

    7. Lydd, if you like shapely legs, check out Twigling's Ingenue body. She has those curvy inner thighs to die for. :)

I like dolls from a lot of different companies, and I love looking at the variety out there.

But I've found that I really want to part with my hard earned cash for Limhwa faces above all others. I love every single one of her 1/3 sized sculpts. I never thought I would be a "collector" type owner, but I would happily possess ALL the Limhwa dolls if I could. Maybe even multiples in various colors. @___@

    8. My first doll was an Iplehouse. My other two are a Soom and a Luts, but I think any new dolls will be Iplehouse.

    9. I have been collecting a long time and I like what I like, and what I like is a very specific sort of aesthetic, which unsurprisingly, is shared by the companies I like. Namely Volks, Bluefairy and Lati. I like my dolls to look good together so I want similar aesthetics across the board. And while I am picky about faces, I am even pickier about bodies and once I find a body I love, I will use that body repeatedly.

You can have a great variety of looks in a collection without having to branch out into different companies all of the time simply through faceup and style choices on your dolls.

    10. I love Doll Zone MSDs. I love the way their faces are short, and their eyes are so huge and gorgeous. I'm actually looking into buying a DZ Rosen, and she has gorgeous cat like features. I mean, I can't speak for the larger DZ Dolls, but the MSDs are beautiful, and I haven't found another company that does MSDs quite like Doll Zone. Except for MAYBE Mystic Kids.

    11. Like many people here, I consider BJDs an art form, pose-able sculpture if you will. Being able to stand back and appreciate many dolls from many different companies is a common trait we all have here. I personally like the idea of having a unique menagerie of dolls from different companies. Imagine an art gallery with so many wonderful and particular paintings from a variety of artists covering the walls in many different accentuating frames; Doesn't that sound wonderful? lol

The same can be applied to having a collection of dolls from the same company. Like a field of pretty sunflowers. c:

Glancing at my collection, 4 of my 6 floating heads are Dollmore (I do plan on hybrids with Luts on some). I won't say Dollmore is my favorite, they just have a fantastic variety of sculpts. However, having so many Dollmore heads, they kind of lost their individuality for me. I don't know... Maybe finally getting bodies for them will still my wavering doubt. So, buying exclusively from one company will not work for me!
I do adore my Migidoll Noel head the most! Something about the Migidoll sculpts call to me. I have a Dreaming Doll Little Elva Misora. Plus a Doll Chateau Mephisto Pheles on layaway. So I'm inching closer to my silly "art gallery" ideal. I just like variety in the looks and aesthetics of my dolls.

That's all ol' chubbers has to say lol

    12. I'm planning on getting my first doll soon, and ResinSoul is really the only company I've seriously considered buying from (mainly due to budget, but their different skin color options are a big part). I've also fallen in love with a couple of WithDoll's limited edition dolls; unfortunately they're all sold out. :(

    13. I kind of have this going on right now. I have dolls from five different companies right now, but I definitely prefer getting new dolls from Volks. Granted, three of the other four companies that my dolls came from are no longer in business, but even if they were, I think I'd be satisfied with the dolls I already have from them. I have a bunch of dolls from a sixth company whose doll aesthetic I really like. However, I don't like the way they pose or feel in comparison to my Volks dolls, I like certain aspects of their design less, and all these things add up to the fact that I was ignoring them in favor of all my other dolls. So now I'm selling them all, and I'm kind of sad about it. Any time I see a sculpt from a new company that I like, I wonder if this lack of bonding is going to happen to me again...

    14. I'm into SOOM dolls, especially SG sculpts. When I started this hobby those were my "dream dolls that I'll never get", but now over half of my dolls are from SOOM. I just love them ^^
Also Monthly Doll thing and Fantasy dolls from SOOM are very gorgeous ~ ;3

    15. I really like to try many companies. Right now I only have one dream of doll and, of course, I dream to have all their dolls, but I'll in my free time of window shopping I been seeing other companies that I felt in love of some of theory sculps. But yea, the only problem I see of great variety of models, is, think, the doll size (well, only if we want to share clothes betwen them), even if the are the "same" scale

    16. I'm pretty evenly spread between Luts and Peak's Woods right now (with one odd out of place Pipos anthro lol)
I have had other companies before, DOD being my first, but I have since moved on from that aesthetic.
I also tried to go on with CP when they moved to Fairyland, but I have disliked every single one of the 4 FL dolls I have owned, so they all moved on to new homes, so I think I specifically liked the old CP at Luts. I don't particularly like the new Luts except for a couple sculpts so I guess it's safe to say my number one company is Peak's Woods. I am planning to sticking to them from now on (99% of the time, you never know) as their aesthetic is the one I like best, sculpt and body both.

    17. So far I am enamored with Fairyland's little dolls. I am almost afraid to look at other companies or different sized dolls as I know I might fall in love and "need" it.

    18. I like a few other companies, but I'd have to say I prefer Doll Zone the most seeing as I've got like 3 dolls from them already haha~

    19. At first I couldn't imagine myself owning any dolls that were not Luts doll but then I spontaneously bought myself a Mystic Kids and now I've been looking into loads of different companies, I love the difference and variety dolls from different companies can offer! ^ - ^

    20. Wow we are very similar! My first doll was a Resinsoul Ya!
I do alot of window shopping too and I like say one or two dolls from certain companies
apart from Fairyland surprise surprise while I adore their Minifees I love the Littlefees and the Pukifees alot too!!! So I would say my preferred company is Fairyland
I just love the scuplts really :wiggle
