Only really liking one company?

Jan 3, 2015

    1. I like having variety like many others, but I can understand really liking one company in particular. I'm going to be getting a third doll from Dollzone, I just love the creativity of all their sculpts and their beautiful delicate features. I also adore Dearmine and Doll Chateau.
I think it has to do with how we end up having certain features we like in a doll, and once you find a company that fits the criteria, it's hard to find anything else that compares.

    2. I have a Withdoll but currently all the dolls I want are from Doll Chateau. I love the extra joints, the delicate sculpting, the slightly creepy tone all their dolls have. I haven't really come across any other companies that interest me. I keep hoping I will though.

    3. Interesting thread. I tend to go for realistic sculpts the most. I love Oasis doll and have 2 of the Chic girls and one of the It girls. I also loved Elfdoll faces but not their bodies, which were always a bit off. I have two Minime heads, an Edria head and an Ordoll head. I guess I feel more of a connection to the individual artist and smaller company and tend to do a lot of hybriding. The newest arrival is from Maskcat and I cannot say enough good things about the dolls and the artist. Amazing quality with a lovely aesthetic. I also like Be Yours.

    4. I have to admit that I'm really liking only one company myself, Fairyland. This is the company which makes me want to get my first BJD though I saw others BJD from others companies before but never feel attracted by them until I saw a Fairyland doll. And after years, it stays the only one company for which one I really like all of their lines, and currently, all my BJD are from Fairyland. I don't know why, I like their style, their work, though it may be too much classic or boring for some people. I like some others models from others companies and I have some others companies on my BJD wishlist but this is the only company I like as a whole and not just for one/or a few BJD models.

    5. I fall in love with dolls that catch my eyes... so, not really. But I tend to like volks/FL dolls better

    6. Fairyland has so many great dolls. I think at first when I first found out about bjd I was only into pukipuki. Then littlefee and minifee and even feeple65 tempt me every now and again. Even though I dislike SD sized bjd.
I liked iplehouse for their overall style but don't think I want one. I like dollzone butainly for the bodies even though there are some nice heads. I also like Unoa heads and face but not so much the bodies. Doll chateau are amazing but I doubt I'll buy one. Unless they fit in well with my other dolls.
I like several other bjd companies but only for one or two dolls. Mainly heads. I think I'll buy heads and try hybridizing, at least this way they can share clothes.
Headwise I prefer unoa, fairyland, certain dollzone, some doll chateau. But I'm also looking at dreaming doll and doll in mind for heads. I prefer slim msd.
I guess I'm not interested in just one company but bodywise I want to stick with either dollzone or fairyland.
Though I'm slowly working up to others.

    7. I like having a little variety, but I try to have two of everything. Granted I've just broken that trend, but what can ya do?

    8. My first 4 dolls, over several years at the beginning, were all CP (Luts) Delfs.

I got them because I liked the style and sculpts. They were also available (not sold out). They were all elves (which I liked), and I could pose them together. ... And back then (2004), there just weren't that many dolls or companies to choose from!

BUT-- after that, there are just so many lovely dolls and so many other companies... I can't limit myself to just one or even two companies after that!

    9. My first six dolls were all from different companies, but over time I developed a real preference for Iplehouse. I like their realism, and the variety of their sculpts, although I'm partial to the JID and smaller sizes. I still have the dolls from the other companies but they rarely get any camera time anymore. I also really like Naraes, and find they work really well with my Iplehouse gang.

    10. I love Fairyland dolls, they just appeal to me.

    11. I have the opposite of this problem. I like something from pretty much every company. Having extremely varied tastes is both a blessing and a curse.

    12. I have 3 dolls from 3 different companies- Iplehouse, Luts, and Soom. I've decided that I really only want dolls from Iplehouse.

    13. Oh, it definitely is. :XD:

    14. While I have dolls from thirteen different companies in my collection, the lion's share of the crew are either Cerberus Project or Volks sculpts.

That's not so much a matter of company loyalty as it is a result of personal tastes. I'm fond of a particular, stylized "old school" kind of look and typically find myself drawn to lines that offer that. Some companies may only have one or two individual models that match what I'm looking for, while others have many.

    15. While there are multiple companies that I like, I find that I definitely prefer Fairyland. I love the way their bodies look and the amazing posability. I've never come across a body from a different company that I liked as much. There's only a few FL heads that I like though, so I'd love to hybrid a FL body with different companies' heads.

    16. While I look around other doll company's I almost exclusively have only Iplehouse men.
the main reason for this is they can all share the same size clothes.
Tho I confess to have a small gaggle of pukis they almost never come out to play.
and though I long for a Venitu I just can't seem to justify spending that much. And a little fee piki has been on top of my list forever!

    17. I have a rather large collection of dolls, but most of my collection is from 3 doll companies. I like older, more stylized sculpts so I have a lot of Volks, plus I like the over the top elf ears on ShinyDoll elves so I have quite a few of those, and Angel Egg dolls are just so delicate and strange I had to have more than one of them... But when it comes to my characters I'll buy whatever sculpt from whatever company suits them, regardless if they fit in to my overall collection's aesthetic.

    18. I owned dolls from many different companies but still...I love Migidoll's sculpts the most (only head). :)

    19. I have bought dolls from three different companies so far and I love the variety. Of the ones I bought, I actually favor the quality of resin from Mystic Kids, but we will see when my Doll Family-A Emma arrives. As for window shopping... I have saved the most wishlist dolls from Dollmore. (Why must they be so expensive?)

    20. I'm in love with Luts and Little Monica XD

their sculpts are so nice and they pose incredibly, may I add nice default face ups too (well most of the time)
