Only really liking one company?

Jan 3, 2015

    1. I do really love certain companies - Iplehouse, Soul Doll, Soom (the Idealians!), Elfdoll, Supia, Dollmore - & have dolls from each (lots of IH dolls LOL). Of course I OWN a LOT of DollZone LOL even tho I never thought 'oooh, love that company'. Not sure how that happened.... Also, I own 3 Volks dolls although overall the aesthetic is not my favorite.
      I really look at the individual doll sculpts when I'm looking to shell a character. So various companies' sculpts catch my eye. I usually don't like Impledoll (although their new boys look appealing) but I've got one because there is just something about that face (it's an Impledoll Camille) that is PERFECT for my character!

    2. When I first stated, all I really liked was Luts. All my dolls (aside from two very tiny Elfdoll anthros) were from Luts. It took a while but I suddenly found myself drawn to the Soom teenie gem line and I focused on them quite heavily.
      Now I have a Doll Chateau girl ordered (and I NEVER thought I would get one, I still do not like the majority of DC dolls). She is so different than the rest of my dolls, but after seeing an Agnes in person I had to have one.

      I still love the old Luts dolls the best though! I have managed to track down a few of the ones I missed out on at the time they were still made and gotten Fairyland re-sculpts of others (Elf Soony and the Juri 05 remake).

    3. I love Luts a lot, they were my first BJD company.... though, not the first company I bought from hahaha. But the problem with me is that I like the same face for sculpts, big droopy-eyed dolls to be specific. I feel like when my collection expands, you can't really tell which company they're from since they're all gonna look the same.

    4. When I think about it, I really like the idea of all my future dolls to be from the same company. It makes me feel like they would be more cohesive and look good as a whole collection together. However I have yet to find a company that can do that for me lol.

    5. I've liked Iplehouse for awhile now. Specifically their carved heritage collection. The doll I have from them is Bliss, and I love how pose-able and realistic she is (the quality is amazing), but the carved heritage comes with stories that hook me to every doll and makes me want to get more >.< Not to mention their faces are lovely I'm hoping to one day have a small collection from their brand :)

    6. I just loooove DollZone. Especially the older sculpts. The new sculpts too, but I do love their older body better. Especialy the male one. I do have some dolls from other companies too. And althouhg I love them to bits, DZ (espacially the old body) will always be my favourite.

    7. Personally, I do like some brands more than others (especially Soom, Crobi, and Little Monica). But I don't only buy from those brands. I'm pretty open minded about different companies. I love having variety brands in my crew. Currently I have Little Monica, Crobidoll, Soom, Switch, Doll Clans, and Doll Family-A. I also have an incoming Luts body, and I'm eyeing Fairyland and Iplehouse dolls.

    8. I could never for the love of me love a single brand because as my friends often claim... I love all the dolls! Literally... Even if there's a sculpt I'm not originally fond of someone will customize it in a way that I'll find at least nice! That's not to say I don't have a weakness to certain companies or aesthetics. Doll Chateau, Dollzone, Cerisedolls, Soom, Luts, Fairyland... yeah... uAu;

    9. My first doll was a fairyland minifee and so was my second, and third. I found myself addicted to fairyland. unfortunately I wish my second and third were different dolls from different companies. I thought I would love to have a group to photograph and share clothes and accessories between each other (more affordable that way too) But since I'm a newbie to the hobby, I realize my addiction is fading and my desire for other companies is greater.

    10. I really am impressed with the quality and reasonable prices of 5 Star dolls. I have 4 and if my funds were unlimited, I'd get many more. Their bodies just feel really sturdy and solid and they hold a pose well.
      I wish they had more selection in their sculpts right now. Especially with 1/4 size. There are only 2 choices right now in that size, and I really want to get a 5 Star boy to go with my DreamingDoll Misora, but I don't really are for the one choice they have. I'm hoping they come out with some new sculpts soon.

    11. Not really. I don't really compare companies I like to be honest. But, there's a few companies I do not like at all.

    12. When my fiancé introduced me to BJD's, we spent lots of time browsing Luts's Web page, but I could never find something I /really/ loved.

      After a while though, I ended up at ResinSoul (even though I'm in a feud with ResinSoul's homepage) and I really fell for them.
      To me, it's about having that spark, a face with unusual features that draws me in with dolls. A lot of dolls have really wide eyes, and princess- like Disney faces (do you get what I mean with that? They are all /too/ cute!) and while they are gorgeous, I like the ones that appear a little different than those. ResinSoul have lots of sculpts with large noses, which I adore, and narrower eyes. To me it looks like more of a realistic person, and that's great!
      Specifically I enjoy the lush dark tan ResinSoul can produce, because for some reason, nice tans are hard to come by. Or perhaps the companies are just hiding from me.

    13. I'm liking more companies than I'm actually buying from, can't have everything and such, haha.

      I try to find brands that are somewhat similar, if you can even say that, just so that the dolls look okay together on a photo, and not like they are from different planets.
      I already see enough difference just comparing my Soom boy to my Switch boys.

      Oh, more than head sculpts, I have to mention bodies though! It would be really boring for me to just get the same bodies for all my dolls!
      I love hybrids so I am trying to find other company bodies for all dolls, even if most my heads are Switch.

    14. I realized after buying my third doll that I had a predisposition to a certain facial structure and I do tend to like doll-zone and Dream of Doll sculpts the most. I love my doll-zone hid so much that I've considered collecting every version of him. The one I have now is a normal skin, they also come in white skin and tan skin. He also looks good as a girl, which has made me consider ordering a female version also. I guess it's fairly common to love a certain sculpt or company. I feel the same way about DOD. I just love all their stuff.

    15. The doll I have now, and the next doll I'm getting are both from Fairyland. I adore their company, but I do have plans to expand to other companies (like unoa, DC).

    16. I'd have to say my favorite company is probably Volks now. I previously used to hate Volks with a passion because I only thought the dolls they had available were on the old website and didn't get the whole attraction to their style. ... I was wrong and never knew about any of the limited dolls or FCS choices!

      Previously I used to own a couple Luts dolls along time ago but I sold them all off before I went to school. During the last (not the most recent) DWC I purchased a head directly from Volks and a SD13 body second hand and I haven't gone back since. ^^;;;

      There's something about the weight and feel of the resin that is really really different. I tried purchasing another Kid Delf and a Migidoll boy just to try to have variation in my collection, but the feel that I got... wasn't the same.

      Granted, I don't like all the dolls they put out. But I do have my favorites!

      (wow this was really... not cohesive at all.)

    17. I used to like Bluefairy and at some point all my dolls were Bluefairies (with a couple Volks). Overtime, I shifted to Volks. They have similar aesthetic of the classic/old looking dolls, but I love Volks' quality a lot more.

      Since the change of ownership, I think BF's quality has changed. Not necessarily for the worse, but the new aesthetic doesn't click with me. Daydream seems to take over that dreamy, romanticized European style but I don't have any dolls from them (yet).

    18. I like buying dolls from all different companies because theyre all so different!

    19. Hi! Same here agentsofchaos. My first doll was a Resinsoul Song. Resinsoul made my first dolly order experience wonderful. Sun was really nice and they reply to my e-mails promptly. When I told them about my birthday, they fast tracked making my doll and even sent a special pair of green eyes. He has no seamlines and was sanded really well for free. I love every bits of my Resinsoul Song <3

    20. When I first got into the hobby the only company that I ever liked was Fairyland and everytime I tried to look at another company I would compare them to Fairyland and just go back....xD But that's defiantly not the case anymore!
