1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Other people handling your dolls

    1. Nothing in my home, because I think I scared them and their mother to within an inch of their lives about the breakables and the dangerous things and the expensive things. :evil:

      EDIT: And I also REALLY DID THREATEN THE KIDS WITH DUCT TAPE MITTENS! :chibi

      But my parents' house has taken a bit of wear and tear, being Houseguest Central.

      Well, the ironic thing is that the major breakage has been of one of their own toys--my niece's guitar (broken handily by my nephew). I can tell you, no huge loss there, as I'd been attempting to give her lessons on it and it was such a piece of crap it couldn't hold a fresh tuning job. :|

      In my mother's eyes, the major breakage has been a pysanky (those ornate Ukranian Easter eggs) I did a few years back. Flying Ninja Turtle + "we thought it was out of the the way up on that SHELF" pysanky = very pretty egg bits alll over the floor!! It's a wonder you guys didn't hear Mom. :shudder :shudder :roar Frankly, I've always seen a lot of room for improvement on that one, but as it was my first ever, Mom was kind of, erm, attached to it.

      So, yeah, that caused a major ruckus that I didn't even stick around for. And ever since then, the kids have straigtened up remarkably, and my stepsister has stopped getting quite so huffy every time my parents tell the kids to BEHAVE. That was the main problem...she was trying to undermine their authority in the house. Well, that won't happen in my mother's house--not if you want to keep your eyeballs!!!! They more or less told my stepsister that she could get over it and make her kids behave, or she could leave.

      So in my eyes one little pysanky is an acceptable payment for another week in which my Mom doesn't develop a nervous tic.

      Well, that's what I keep telling them, when I hear the mutinous grumbling coming from the boxes in the closet! :wink:

    2. Whew! Glad to hear that! Too bad something precious to your mother was broken though. But at least the kids and your sister in law seem to have straightened up a bit. Lets just hope that keeps up!

      LOL Just threaten to set the children loose on them. That should make them more agreeable!

    3. I, too, was always amazed the entire world didn't hear Mom when my sister and I were bad. :D :D :D

    4. :cow :D Box Escape Party tonight!!!! They leave tomorrow morning! :D :cow

    5. Congratulations!!! I've been following your saga with sympathy here.

      Your mom's remark in your sig about letting your dolls smoke in the house cracks me up every time. :lol: :lol: :lol: She must be a riot.

    6. YAY!!! :D Congratulations!!!! I bet your dolls will be happy to come out of the closet!!

      ..... That didn't sound right :oops: .... But you know what I mean! :grin:

      I am happy to present you with a gold medal for your strength, patience, and tolerance, as well as being able to survive having your dolls locked away for that long! Great job. :daisy

    7. I'm glad my step cousin isn't allowed to come over any more. she nearly got my gamboy one time and the cat the next. my uncle threatend to ducktape her to the bed if she didn't settle down.

    8. .....aaaannnnndddd they're gone. :grin:

      *snork* Lucy, in fact, bet me that I would never be ABLE to stuff August and Aubrey back into the closet. :oops: And it was a close thing, and involved tiny BJD-size doses of chloroform & hitherto unknown upper-body strength on my part.

      I don't need a medal--just my dolls! :D I'm SO GLAD to see them lounging around the house again!!

      :chibi (On a happy side note, I came home last night to find a big box on my front porch from PullipStyle--two of my dearest friends got together and sent me two Pullips as a sort of birthday (it's on Tuesday)/get well soon (back surgery soon, ack)/"we missed your dolls, too" present. I'm still mopping my eyes periodically on Lucy's wig. So not only are my dolls free again, but they have new friends from my friends! Oh, no, I'm crying again...) :chibi

      She is. My mom is a hoot. That her daughter has finally found dolls that she likes (other than "boy's toys" action figures, heh...), after nearly 30 years--she's just kind of bemused and pleased about the whole thing. That half of them smoke and one of them constantly carries around a mini bottle of Guinness, she just figures is par for the course, with me.

      And this afternoon she came by my house, looked at the dolls relaxing on the library table, breathed deeply, smiled, and announced how much she enjoyed being around these grandchildren...they're so quiet, respectful & well-behaved! XD

    9. Yes; your kids beat a bunch of little devils running amok around the house. XD

    10. Well, poor Mom's had a hard couple of weeks. I believe she spent the morning attempting to get glue out of one of her carpets. Glue, and some kind of...seedpods? :?

    11. Glad it all worked out!

    12. ...seedpods? o_o;

      Omfg, glue is murder on fabrics. ToT; Shin and me send your mom lots of hugs!

    13. OH HOORAY!!! You know, I thought I heard a huge sigh of relief coming from the general direction of Kentucky, this weekend. :grin: I'm so happy that your kids are OUT of their boxes and that you can have a full life again. Honestly, your Mom deserves a medal for that visit. Maybe a day at a spa, with massage and mudpack, would be a nice way to celebrate the exodus of family. LOL! :wink: Congrats on your recaptured freedom! :daisy

    14. Hmm. I thought I heard some kind of "AUUUGH" in Louisville. Hmmmmmm...

      I'm so glad your dollies are safe!! And I say, fill your yard with landmines next time. O.o

    15. Keep them in the closet o__o;;
      Jesus christ, I'd be scared to let kids anywhere near Cinthe >_>

      Edit:
      ....
      I am an idiot. :DDD! I didn't... feel like flipping through 7 pages... :D;;;;

    16. I'm usually very "ok" with other people holding, touching and playing with my dolls (as long as they ask first and as long as they are gentle and careful.)

      But there is the rub, sometimes when people hold and play with my dolls they turn the doll's head by grabbing it's face roughly! I can't stand this! It always makes me worried:

      - what if their hands aren't clean?
      - what if they grab too rough and the rub part of the faceup off?

      I consider each one of my dolls' faceups to be pretty much irreplacable, whether they were painted by someone for me, or whether they are a limited. I would be LIVID if the faceup came off, especially due to someone else's carelessness.

      So please, when you play with others dolls, please PLEASE be gentle especially with the face!!!

      :(!!!!!

    17. I sort of wince and bite my lip while smiling politely whenever someone does that, but it probably won't last very long, lol.

    18. Anyone who wants to hold Ichigo gets a brief lecture on what parts are touchable and I do growl politely (^-^; ) if someone reaches for his face.

      Once my dolls have faceups and/or blushing, I use white cotton gloves to change their clothes. I'm not *too* precious with them outside the house, but still I don't think it's out of line to tell people what they can or cannot do with my expensive, much-adored and irreplaceable dolls.

    19. I personally don't care much as long as they aren't hurting the doll themselves. I paint my own faces, and I'm not great :oops: so it's an opportunity to practice if it gets damaged.

      I would be livid in your position though. Limited and other people painted faces frighten me a lot. I'm terrified I'M going to be the one hurting them, and other people touching it would make it so much worse for me.

    20. The thing I am most paranoid about is Hikaru's face--I like his face up and I don't want it damaged. I play with him and dress him all the time, but I will not touch his face. I don't mind if other people want to touch or hold him, but I will warn them not to touch the face.
