It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Outing with Your Bjds - taking your BJDs out in public places

Sep 16, 2014

1. I could never do this, but it's different for me since I'm OCD. It's pretty hard to explain the vagaries of it, especially since it's different for everyone, but basically for me it's all about cleanliness? Like, to me outside means dirty, and my dolls are beautiful and clean, taking them outside would be like saying I don't love them ^^;;

But once I have some decent photos of them, I plan on keeping a small gallery of them on my phone so I can show them off remotely! Like if I'm getting some sort of art supply for them and I'm asked what it's for, I'll say, but without pics it's hard to really explain, so that'll be nice ^^

2. i have met people with OCD and i must say it's a serious thing to have. I am sorry that you have it. But as many others try, you can try to beat it. If for example you find the outside world ground dirty, but you really desire to make a picnic story.. I would suggest taking something from home that is clean such as a clean pretty coloured towel and lay it on the ground. and then put ur dolls on it. Your dolls will be saved and you are practically tellin them, i love you this much!
Karmiya try and help yourself in situations like these. i don't have OCD myself but i tend to suffer from anxiety far too much than im suppose to when it comes to belongings that i love so dearly. So i always take precautions and see what may happen from any angle so i try to beat anything that may come when im about to take photos outside. I think you should try it too :) Baby steps ^^ i hope i didn't insult you , i just want to help you a bit

3. Besides a bunch of meetups, I have never been afraid of taking my dolls outside, especially my littlest doll, as she is very easy to carry ^w^
I have taken them to parks, conventions, stores... I have cuddled them while traveling by train or by bus... and I have done lots of outside photoshoots.
It is true that I often get surprised looks, or the typical questions: "how much does it cost?" "where do you buy them?" even "would you sell it to me?" xD
I find it quite amusing, to see people's faces while I brush their hair and put their clothes in place, and even talk to them, to start a photoshoot.

4. So far, I've only brought mine* with me to the fabric store, and while I'm knitting doll outfits in public (dollies never complain about frequent fittings). I get a lot of "that must be so hard to sew!" and "I wish I could knit!" comments, plus questions about the tiny knitting needles I use. (Although, if you have sharp eyes and nimble fingers, making for tinies isn't much harder than making for an SD doll or even a person! It's just a lot more intimidating at first.)

* A non-resin baby, but I'll probably do this with my Teenie Gem when she arrives, too.

5. Who cares what other people think, right!? I would love to start taking my doll with me to places but my father would eventually tell me to put her away since he isn't a big fan of her.
My mother on the other hand would let me take her anywhere I wanted. She doesn't care a bit about what others think.

6. I would so love to get my girl out for a day and have a photoshoot this summer! And if people would stare i dont really mind it, here in Sweden it's not often you see those kind of dolls and if someone would ask me about the doll, i would just be glad and simply say that this is a hobby like any other hobbies, it's mostly for styling and to photograph. So dont give a f**k what people think if they stare or give comments that might be mean, dont pay any attention to it. It's your hobby, your doll & your money. ;)

7. I once brought my floating head outside and many people freaked out so i never did it since but it was a really great experience and cool thing to do on the hobby!

8. I totally want to take some of my dolls out... But I'm a little scared of the staring. Oh well, not like it matters; seeing the weird faces might make my day haha. But my dolls are all (but one) SDs...so that's a bit of a hassle too since they are not the easiest to take places *_*

9. The only time I would bring mine out would be at meetups or conventions, I don't think I have the courage to take her out in public otherwise ><

10. I get nervous out in public. I'm getting braver, but it's taking a while lol.

I'm 6'4" dude walking around with a msd or yosd fussing with their wigs and clothes... It brings unwanted attention no matter what I do. I've got severe social anxiety, so that's part of the problem. . . But by taking my 2 favorites outside, I'm working through it. I wasn't brave enough at the zoo, but I am at the nature parks and mountain trails... And that's a victory to me!

11. I haven't taken my dolls outside since I moved to a new city, and I'm still pretty scared to... I'm hoping to start taking them out soon to meet-ups and things, though. I used to take them out ALL THE TIME when I lived in NYC, but the culture there is very different. Stuff I did there without thinking about it -- like taking my dolls to the park for a photoshoot -- I'm afraid to do here because people are more likely to stare and comment. :(

12. As of now I don't own any dolls but I've really wanted to (when I own some) take them out to the more scenic places in SK. I'm just afraid of other people who don't understand the hobby and are close minded as I am a tall guy will make fun of me. Maybe I'll drag my sister and have her come take pictures with me. Better yet I should get her into the hobby and we can take some nice outdoor pictures together!:dance

13. I don't think I would have the courage to take my dolls out unless my best friend came along with me!

14. Taking my large dolls out draws too much attention so I only take my tiny dolls out in public for photos. That way I can quickly hide them before anyone gets close enough to think things or, heaven forbid, ask questions!

15. My biggest fear is actually loosing a doll I take out somewhere! So I don't take them anywhere other than doll meets very often. But I have taken my YoSDs places and that's fun. It's best to only bring one I've found. And I have a favorite doll that I like to take places, my YoSD Remi (Sugar). I took her to the Scarecrow Festival in Cambria one year and got tons of fun pics!

People don't seem to notice the smaller dolls- for obvious reasons, than they do the larger dolls.

16. I've taken my doll with me to this really pretty park once, and I was actually surprised how little people seemed to stare. Or then I just didn't notice. ^^'
I also carried the doll in my hands when there was this art festival in my city, in case I could get nice pictures.

Maybe I just don't pay that much attention, but I haven't really noticed people staring, a lot at least. It's mostly been nice grannies complimenting the doll and asking if I made it myself or where I got it, and that's kinda nice.

17. I feel like I wouldn't loose my doll, but I would be really scared of loosing items of clothing/accessories. I really hate the fear of loosing things, I feel like taking my doll out would make me super neurotic about things.

18. i don't think i'd be able to take my doll outside. usually, i like to keep my hobby to myself, and i'm kind of scared of judgemental stares:| PLUS, there is the fact that you can yellow your doll. resin yellows FAST, in the sunlight.

19. Hi Everyone...

I am a Reborn artist and before I found out about BJD's, people would ask me if I took the babies out with me in car seats and strollers and the answer was always NO...

BUT...when I found the amazing world of BJD's, I saw how much nicer and scenic the outside photos are so I wondered about doing this...

I got my first BJD at a local doll show that I was exhibiting at...

So of course, she was displayed on my table, sitting proper in her chair...

There were tons of ladies walking around with their BJD's in hand...

It was a little piece of Dolly Heaven...

Since then, my collection has grown, and I mostly collect YOSD and under...

Which is fantastic since they're small enough to fit in my purse when I'm going out!

I haven't done too much public places yet, but I take them out in my yard, to the park when I bring my son, and on occasion, to a restaurant...

My hubby doesn't say much and my son thinks my dolls are cute...

All in all, I am becoming braver and my photography skills have improved.

Its a win-win!

Hugs, Shaira :aheartbea
