1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Outing with Your Bjds - taking your BJDs out in public places

Sep 16, 2014

    1. SlaveDan sunlight is bad for resin, but it's a question of time, after years every resin, the best resin will be yellow and tan dolls became more green. Its sad, but its life. I take good carry bag and go out. Not in super sunny summer days and not on a whole day - - one hour isnt bad. I love my dolls and want to be with them as much time as i can. If something will be broken - i'll go to custom master and repair it, i'll change broken details, thats isn't so scary! Sometimes i'll be old woman and cant go out but i'll have a good memories and fun photo about my life.

    2. I've taken my SD girl to a convention for a day and to the local American Girl Store for lunch with my SO and one of her dolls, which was a blast. Everyone kept asking us about our dolls and complimenting their gorgeous features. :D

Because she is a little easier to carry around, I have been taking my new MSD girl out and about with me. She's run some errands with me, had lunch a few times, gone to the local tea shop, and been to Tuesday Morning with me. xD

When it warms up, I plan to take my dolls out more for some photoshoots. I will be getting a handsome guy soon that I want to dress up in a WW2 RAF uniform and take to the local Veteran's Park for some pictures.

    3. I read through some of the replies and the ones that got to me where those where doll owners got stared or laughed or jeered at by bringing their doll out with them. That really depresses me for some reason. There's nothing wrong with BJDs.

    4. There's nothing wrong with being gay/bi/trans/liking pink as a guy/liking black as a teenager/being goth/emo/lolita/a gamer/liking anime and etc, yet all these are getting bad comments.

    5. Thats a question of your own psychology and philosophy- do you shy to be yourself or not. If you affraid comments of over people, its just your business. Some person are to shy. It isn't bad, but i'm sad of it, because they lost so many happy days and smiles. Some people outside can say you are freak with the doll, but most of them will be kind and interest abot your dolls. It's true. People can be cruel but can surprise you in good way. I take bjd out because it make me happy. If you not - its your own choise. How to be gay or pink or emo or something else. We can do what we like, but not hurt other people:hug:

    6. Here's to Castiel and I's first outing!

Yes. That's an actual train at her back XD One of my biggest regrets when I left her at her position when the train came rushing. Oh mini heart attack.

    7. hahahha i can guess the mini heart attack was real i would have done the same thing or start screaming MYBABY!!!!!! x.x

    8. Usually people stare when I carry a doll around, and I can't really blame them because they've probably never seen such a doll before! but my friend, who is so conscious of those stares, begs me to carry and hold her doll when we're out in public, since she can't stand those stares. I find that kinda sad, like you're ashamed of your own dolls.....
We usually head to cosplay shoot locations and hang around there, or to shopping malls away from the blazing hot sun.

    9. I take my dolls out, but I've prefer quiet places without many people around.
Why? Not because they are staring at me. Not because they take photos without asking first. Because they want to talk. Oh, such lovely doll. How much they cost? Can I touch it?
I hate it DX *such rage very grr* they want to be nice, they want to show interest in bjd, but I simply can't stand that
Quiet garden-like places are perfect :>

    10. I can't remember the first place I ever took a doll, but mine have been all over. I've taken them to anime conventions, friends' houses, vacations, meet-ups in DC, the local doll store, to high school and then later to college, the park, doctor's appointments (like when I got my first cavity filling- so scary!) and I even have a doll that lives in my purse and goes most places with me. I was so sad when I got to the point that I couldn't take all of my dolls out at once, actually, so now I have to pick and choose who gets to leave the house.

I would get made fun of for having one in high school, but now at college or out in public, I don't really get much more than the occasional weird look. People sometimes stop me and ask what they are, or compliment me on them. I don't really care much about what people think. I enjoy taking my dolls out and getting photographs. Plus, I find having one on me to be very therapeutic because it eases my anxiety.

I hope that eventually, someone will see me with one and go, "I collect those too!" and I'll make more doll friends. I really like my local community, but the more the merrier, right?

Here's a picture of Taiki at the grocery store. She fit perfectly into the little cup-holder in the cart:

    11. haha first place I took my bjd (soon after getting him) was to a shop :)

    12. Apart from BJD conventions, of course, there was one week-end I couldn't help myself and took my Caoimhe on a trip. I took her out in the train to make her hair, which drew strange looks from all the adults around, and then again in the museum I'd gone to visit, and here's the bad quality picture I took as a souvenir.

    13. I take Musou with me every time I go out. But unless I'm indoors or taking pictures I wrap him up and put him in my bag (I don't have a doll carrier yet so he just gets wrapped in fabric and carefully put into a wooly hat then into my backpack xD)

    14. My friends and family are kinda killjoys who tell me not to take my dolls everywhere. Sometimes I get to though! I love bringing them to doll-meets.

    15. I don't think I would bring my doll outside of the house, but I might when I start living in another country. Who knows?

    16. I think I'd be too precious to take my doll out other than for doll meets, mostly because I'm chained to public transport and I worry about my doll getting pushed about. Also I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to withstand the stares and comments, I'm pretty shy around strangers for the most part.

    17. My dolls only really leave the house when I go to anime cons since I purchased my first BJD at Fanime con. I live in a very ghetto city so I try to avoid standing out or doing anything that could offend anyone. I don't need that kind of trouble xD;;; If I could, I would though such as in the town next to mine. That one is more upscale and not so sketchy so I think having a doll or two with me there wouldn't be as big of an issue with anyone.

    18. I recently took Elijah to go see Bo Burnham's Concert/comedy show in Austin!

Yosds are so great for travel, I try to take them with me whenever I go out. You never know when you might
get an awesome photo opportunity. I generally get positive reactions... or some weird stares but you just ignore them!

    19. I just suddenly remembered - I took one of my (off-topic) dolls away to Floriade (big flower/tulip show in our capital) a couple of years ago and was taking pics, and the only comment I got was one guy (my age, cute too!) offering to take a pic of me with my doll in front of the flowers :) I declined, but was very pleased that a bloke my age would be that thoughtful.

    20. Right now I couldn't imagine taking my dolls out anywhere, I'm far too shy and I'd worry about damaging them by accident! :(

That will probably change at some point in the future, knowing me :D
