1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Outing with Your Bjds - taking your BJDs out in public places

Sep 16, 2014

    1. I personally would never take my doll out in public. It's not because I am afraid of what people think of me, but more because I don't want to risk the doll breaking. If I paid that much money for it, I would like to keep it in a safe spot. I can take cool pictures with my green screen :XD:

    2. I take off topic dolls on vacation and take pics of them on location. I get weird looks sometimes but mostly people are positive and think it's fun.
I'm going to Germany shortly and am trying to decide who to take with me. I just might take my MK Eileen along, dressed in something gothic for posing in front of castles:shudder

    3. I have taken off topic dolls and my dollfie dreams with me when I go to the lake during the summer. I go during the week so its not so crowded and don't get so many weird looks.

    4. I've taken my dolls out with me so much on shopping trips and just for fun that I get more questions when I don't have them! XD "Where's your pretty baby?" is one I have gotten a lot when I don't have one with me. I think a lot of it has to do with attitude. I don't mind making a minor spectacle of myself, so I'm not fussed by the second looks or rude remarks, which are mostly made by silly immature people. The rude comments are always erased by the double-takes and genuine smiles of others.

I want to make or acquire a larger tote to make it easier to carry around a doll. The weather here can turn quickly, and I'd like to have a pretty water-resistant bag that zips if it starts raining.

    5. I have taken my boy, Ari out several times now. To cosplay events as well as friend's houses.:) I don't mind that people stare and all but the only problem i have with him is he is too heavy (he is a SD17) , and it causes my shoulder to ache after a few hours of carrying him in my bag. :...(

    6. I haven't had my doll for that long, but I don't think I could ever muster up the courage to bring her into a public place. Maybe a park, if it's not too crowded and I had a friend with me, but otherwise? Never! :shudder: Although I must say, there are some locations I would really like to pose my doll in... Maybe one day!

    7. I took Taylor to a Ski Lodge when my school was going on a ski trip, Taylor and I never left the lodge. We just chilled with my friends, and ate junk[emoji13]

    8. I took my bjd to uni a few weeks ago to help me with work :)

    9. I've taken my girl with me to college for fun a few times. I was tempted to take her with me when we went into downtown Portland but I decided against it because there was the minor issue of not having a bag and her being pretty heavy. But eh. I tried. Wanted to take pictures at the tea shops and restaurant but I may do it anyway sometime soon.

    10. the only 'public' place I have taken a doll is to my studio which is also occupied by 10 other people all artists though so they don't judge :)

    11. I bring some dolls to a coffee shop now and then, when we are some people meeting up and have a cosy time with coffee/milkshake/etc. and our dollies :3
Sometimes I also bring my dolls outside for pictures or just because. Most recent was that my DHS Chibi Feilene went with us to the cinema to watch a movie, peeping out of the chest pocket of my GF's button-up shirt, and riding the bus home with us afterwards :3

    12. A part of me would love to take my boy out for photo shoots when he gets here, some of the most beautiful photos I've seen of dolls are from them being out and about, but I know I just couldn't do it. The thought of putting him down in a public space and stepping away from him in order to take the shot, I'd be terrified that at any moment someone would run over and snatch him up!
Plus I'm read as male about 90% of the time, so I doubt I'd get away without some weird looks and probably the odd comment. I got teased at the checkout in the supermarket a couple of months back for purchasing a monster high doll, so I can only imagine what carrying around and posing a bjd would cause people to say.
It shouldn't bother me, but I have pretty bad social anxiety and it just isn't worth the risk, sadly.

    13. I've never really taken them out anywhere... Maybe once on a long drive to have company. But I guess my car is not really out in public. ;)

    14. I took my MSD girl with me to fabric store. I needed to make sure that the patterns on the fabric were not too big. My little brother was with me. He is a large man, very tall, and broad with a grumpy resting face (though he is one of the nicest guys in the world) Anyone who would have said anything negative probably took one look at him and ran the other way. LOL. Im going on vacation starting next week and I am taking my dolls with me. I don't know how much I will take them out in public, but I don't really care all that much what people think about me.

Edited to add: I also take them to work with me and they hang out in my cubicle with me. Usually only one at a time though.

    15. Taken one to a doll convention and taken my tiny out in the park, but otherwise there's just not much reason to take them out, unless I lived in a serioulsy beautiful nature area. I believe any weird comments could be mitigated by an easy-going attitude, however. Also, they'd be the one making a big deal about a doll.

    16. I would love to take my doll out in public but she doesn't have a shirt right now so that would be kind of weird haha!

    17. Oh, this is definitely happening! One of the things I like about tinies, is that I can easily slip one into my purse and take it out for photos and funtime anywhere. :)

    18. I'd love to have a tiny that fits in my purse, but I prefer MSDs :( and those definitely don't fit in a purse...Unless your purse is freaking huge haha

    19. The last three years, I've taken a doll (different doll each year) to the city greenhouse for their Easter showcase. It's a very small, crowded place, so of course I get lots of strange looks. Most people seem to be either just mildly interested or ignore me. I've gotten into some interesting conversations with people about dolls over mine, and it's always fun when little kids take an interest, too (though I don't let them touch!).

I've taken my dolls to work on a couple occasions, when I'm not going directly to my boyfriend's house and don't want to leave them in the car while I'm inside. I sit them on the counter out of the customer's sight. My coworkers are cool with it (although when I took my newest doll to work last week, the assistant manager kept insisting he was the seed of Chucky...).

    20. Not 'Public' exactly, but sometimes I take my big guy in the car with me to pick my roommate up from work. Only once in a while, and it always surprises her when she opens the car door to see him buckled in! :) A few years ago I took my Littlefee with me to a college class (on request of my professor, amazingly) and i've been musing on taking my pukifee with me to work to sit on my desk in my cubicle. Besides that, they've been with me to meetups.
