It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Petition to get Little Jr. know as a Mini

Jul 24, 2007

    1. Lami Little Juniors are/were on the Tinies list on DOA, and were considered as much by most people i came in contact with, which is why I started this thread.

As for classifying them by their clothing. I am not making that point. I am stating that they are a mature sculpt that fits better with the minis and the male little Juniors fit more-so as a mini than anything else. They not only wear the same clothing but also have similar measurements other than the torso area of their body.

While reading everyones replies, it seems the majority of people whom own Little Jr.s agree. I am not saying if you don't have one you don't have a formidable opinion, just a more informed one. Not only that, I think the images everyone has supplied helps prove that Little Juniors are more-so mini and should be classified that way.

chibikarin thank you for including them in the minis section. That is where I believe they belong.

From here on out, the questions remains, are they going to be removed from the tinies list?

    2. No matter which they end up belonging to, I think both the boy and the girl should be in the same size category.

I think some of the issue with this is that Little Junior female at 35cm is a tiny but the Little Junior boy at 38 is a mini. So no one knows what to do with a little Junior. If its a boy its one and if its a girl it's the other. Makes people confused, they don't know where to look for questions, clothes, comparisons etc. Just pick a size where both genders can belong without a doubt.

On a personal note, I only have a boy, and I think of him as a shorter sized mini. He's not in the same boat as my tinies. Add to it that tinies have a HUGE range, put him next to an DD Anne or Lati white and well its obvious he's not tiny.

    3. Just FYI, the mods are discussing this -- thanks to everyone for your input thus far!

      -- A :)

    4. Yeah - thanks mods!!!

    5. If Little Junior and maybe Narsha move out of tinies, I will still keep them in my tiny size chart because it is useful for comparing clothing sizes, and for finding a younger sibling for a 40-45cm mini, a child for an SD, or an older sibling for a Petite Ai.

    6. Would the cut-off point be the LatiGreens with the Tinies? They're 30 cm, but wear mostly stuff for Yos/Petites/Bambis.

    7. Now a lati-green is a tiny! I have one and he's FAR closer in scale to my bambi than any of my minis!

    8. Here's my Tiny Size chart.

A 30cm cutoff for Tinies would put Little Junior (M 38cm and F 35cm), Narsha 35cm, and the new Minoruworld Jr. Leila (33cm) into Minis. But Leila has smaller body measurements because she is actually a semi-mature shape (like a smaller slim mini) and even appears to have both an immature and a "Blossom" body choice.

I believe the next lowest dolls below Minoruworld Jr, Leila sizewise are 30cm (at this time) and they are usually grouped with the 28's and 29s:

    9. Little Jr has always been a tough group to classify ^^;
While I definetly wouldn't want an entirely different section for them. It's a little confusing when you're not sure to put them in Mini or Tiny section...

If it helps any, here's a picture of a Little Jr girl and boy I took at a recent dollmeet for comparison ^_^
      [IMG]
For referance, my boy's wearing a MSD jacket and Yo-SD pants (though he can't sit in them ^^; ) Little Jr shoes and Tiny wig.
Altough, about the wig... one of my Yo-SDs wears an MSD wig (with a rubberband) and my Little Jr can fit that as well...
My DoC boy (classified as a mini) has a smaller head as well and can fit both tiny and mini type wigs.

      Hope some of that helps some ^^;

    10. LOL, I always thought they were minis. XD I always wondered why I never saw threads for them; I rarely go into the tiny forum.

    11. Regarding a cutoff again - I think a 35cm and mini-like would be a good low end for minis. That would get both Little Juniors and Narsha.

That would leave Minoruworld Junior Leila in below 35cm tinies. Even though she is 33cm, her measurements are more like the large group of 28-30cm cm tinies. And she would not be the only mature doll in tinies.

      Carolyn

    12. Leila is still new, as is Junior. I haven't seen any on the site at all, so I think it would be best if judgement as to her placement be reserved until we see some owner pictures.

    13. Re Liebchen - I always thought she was a 40cm mini. Never had her in my Tiny Size Chart. I'll probably add her since I now know she is same height as Little Jr male, just for size reference of the full span of sizes below full size mini. I had to join a Liebchen Yahoo group to find her measurements! So I imagine that she would be classified mini officially if Little Junior is, at 38cm and like a shorter mini.

Re Minoruworld Jr. Leila though - just for reference, this is a mockup of 33cm Jr. Leila next to 43cm Blue Fairy. I did my best to judge where the top of Jr. Leila's head would be if not tilted and not wearing the hat. It could be a bit off but should be a reasonably close representation of their relative sizes.

    14. Carolyn S. I don't want to sound like I am attacking your way of size comparison. However, placing two pictures next to each other like that doesn't seem like a reliable way to measure a doll. It is best to use the websites measurements, most provide them, or not state them at all. Mainly because it could get confusing if said estimated measurements are wrong.

As for this thread and where dolls should be placed. I am glad that everyone is taking this seriously an is interested in clearing things up. I know my little girl would like to have a permanent category. And as her owner it would definitely help me with questions pertaining to her and where to go for things i need for her.

    15. I just want to say kudos to Junia for not being afraid to start this thread, being that she is a first time doll owner. I think its wonderful that Sage means so much to you that youre willing to do this for her, and LJ's every where.

    16. I did use the website's measurements - I always do that when making mockups of side-by-side dolls. I am not stupid.

Technical details for anyone who's interested...

I divide the smaller doll's real size (from the manufacturer) by the larger doll's real size (from the manufacturer) to get the percentage of the larger dolls's height that the smaller doll is in real life. This gives me something (for example) like the smaller doll is .763523455157 the size of the larger doll. I'll call that the size ratio.

I find a full body standing shot of each doll and they must appear to be shot straight-on with the camera (not looking down or up at the doll). I load both photos into a graphics package. With both photos zoomed to the same amount (preferably 100 percent as in this case), I measure the larger doll onscreen using a popup ruler tool. I have to judge where the sole of her foot is and the top of her head because the shoe soles and wig should not be included. I multiply the larger doll's onscreen height by the size ratio. The result is the onscreen size that the smaller doll should be to be compared side-by-side with the larger doll onscreen. I resize the smaller doll and undo and retry until I get her exactly that size (not counting her soles and wig). Then I copy one and paste and position it in the other doll's photo.

    17. Carolyns .S has some of the most reliable "Mock " up photos
she is one of the only people I would trust to do so
she has done it several times in the Tiny section over the years
when its just not possible to have all of the dolls in front of you
she also has a huge collection of information and sizes at her disposal

and she is normally pretty accurate :)

I have watched this thread from the start

I'm kinda sad to see the tiny section change
its always been under 35cm from the start of DOA
and was one of the founding ground rules

I was kinda surprised to see the vintage Jr in the Mini section when they came out
as they have always been classed as tinys

I have had to edit this a bit ..
I hate getting envolved or saying anything I would consider inflamitory ...becasue I love DOA and think its a great place
      but

I'm wondering ...when someone comes along and suggests 30cm arnt tiny enough ...or 14 Cm are too tiny
will it be changed again ?

if you can do it to 1 size ...will it be done with another ?

after all some of the 30cm wear Unoa wigs and clothes ...N-doll can share wig and eyes with Bambicrony

and I dont like being the one to ask ..but
I suppose I don't like change ...there is a lovely friendly community, of all sizes and styles in the Tiny section ..its unusuall and diverse ...and I like it .
haveing the 35cms go is like loosing part of the family

If it is to be made 30cm ...thats Ok
so were do the 33 cm fit in ?
or ..least put up a vote in the tiny section too ..a lot of us have used the tiny section for a long time
and perhaps we dont want it changed ?

    18. Excuse me for being maybe harsh, but that is just silly. It is not mortifying to own a "Tiny" doll as opposed to a "Mini". It's just my opinion but I think this thread is absurd. The mods made the deliniations and it should stay that way, as it makes the most sense. I really don't think this is a noble quest, rather it seems to be just a waste of time. I don't get what the burning need to reclassify these dolls is. Can somebody explain it?

    19. I think you make a good point....

But aside from it's original intent, I think this thread has served to provide clarification.

I don't think anything should be change as such, but I would like for the blurry line to be a little clearer.

Personally I think I will regard my LJ as a mini when he arrives...But he's such an inbetween that I actually don't feel like labelling him. But if I have to, I'd say he's a mini.

Leila I would say is a tiny. And Iw ant her >_<

    20. I own all kinds of dolls from minis down to tiny tinies (od So) and I find none of them "mortifying", I think this thread was really more of a discussion on an grey area of sizing than some great world shattering debate. I really fail to see why this thread is any more of a "waste of time" than any of the other threads on this entire forum. People are interested, why should they not discuss it if they want to?
