It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Pets and BJD

    1. My dolls are usually at floor-level with all their furniture, and Zoey (Australian Shepherd/Corgi/? mix) occasionally will come to see what I am doing with them. (Then go over to lie by the door because she knows she's technically not allowed.) For the most part, she hardly seems to notice most inanimate objects unless you give them to her directly, but I she sees me putting attention into the dolls so I think she gets curious sometimes. I've been in the sewing room and heard her come into the next room, went to investigate and she was gone again--but Gailan had a wet nose-mark in his wig and his glasses were crooked. That has happened two or three times, always to that particular doll. I think she likes him.

Our own cats are not allowed in the house, but I have had incidents with my aunt's cats. (Can't remember if I posted this somewhere already.) While staying with her I left Lysander on the bed, forgetting that the guest room is also technically "Her Majesty Elizabeth's chamber", and came back to find this enormous long-haired monster curled up in Lysander's lap. His wig was lopsided like she'd been rubbing on him. Once I got over my horror that I'd left him there and realized he was okay, I went "awwwww".

With that same cat on that same visit, at one point I was working in the sewing room and had Uriah standing against the wall. Elizabeth came leisurely strolling in, but when she glimpsed Uriah, she froze and her fur started to stand on end. She crept a little bit closer like she was trying to get a better look, then suddenly whirled around and dashed out of the room. Another time she was lying on the bed, and I was holding him and sat down there. In an instant she was wide awake and staring. When I moved him a tiny bit closer, she jumped up, hissed at him and ran away. I have thought back on that a few times and wondered if it was his angry facial expression she didn't like, or something she saw/sensed about him. o_o

    2. Death by licking would be the worst! My dog is similar, but she has a super wet nose! If she smells something, she leaves behind a wet little dog bugger trail XD I would just die of she got her boogies on my dolls, especially the faceups, but thankfully she doesn't even try to sniff at them. x.x She loves to sniff at my husband's laptop though, boy it ticks him off! XD

    3. My cats are ultra curious, but they're not allowed in the room where my dolls are. Nor will they be allowed in their future room once I move in summer (I found an apartment today and I will be able to have a doll room - a tiny one, yet a doll room! How awesome is that? :D). Unfortunately, I think it's necessary. Carter is super curious, so far he's only sniffed them whenever I brought one to the living room ... he'd probably not harm the dolls themselves, but anything soft and squishy is a chewy toy, right? I swear, that cat is half a dog sometimes. But all in all I think he'd leave them alone. If one ever so much as moved while he was nearby he'd probably panic enough to never want to go near them again. Nala, on the other hand, can't resist anything fuzzy - she can happily spend hours licking everything in her reach, from blankets to the inside of the kitty transport basket. In her world, any space big enough for a cat is meant for her to sit in (the number of times we had to chase her out of my friend's violin case!) so I guess she wouldn't mind pushing a doll out of the way if she fancied making herself at home on the doll shelf. So - no. No kitties near the dolls.

    4. For the most part, currently, my cat doesn't care much about the dolls one way or the other, except that he can't get on the shelves they're on. He chews on the plastic bags for wigs if I leave them down in his reach, but that's more an overall issue of his that he just likes to chew plastic.

That said, when my former roommate got her first doll (a couple of weeks before I got mine), she stood him up and had him hold his hand out to my cat, who was terrified. After she did it to him a few times, though, he got over it pretty fast, and has never had a problem with any of mine at all!

I've never heard of this... I even have a pair of Necomimi I wear on occasion, and my cat barely notices them most of the time. He doesn't mind any of the cat-eared dolls, either!

    5. The only time that my dogs have ever shown any interest in the dolls, it was entirely my fault.

My boy Max is a rescue dog, placid and gentle and loving, but not entirely tame because he spent at least a month (we think) out in the wild when he was a puppy fending for himself. (We think he got out of his first home and then couldn't find his way back) Anyway. He used to eat anything he could get his paws on, particularly if it was a natural substance and one of my dolls had a pair of feathered wings and was placed at what I thought was an "Out of reach" height.

      It was not.

Suffice to say I woke up to a carpet that was stained red with dye, a puppy that was puking up feathers and a doll with three broken fingers (all of which I found, thank goodness! Resin is toxic!) Max was fine - but the wings were ruined.

Other than that, the dogs haven't really shown any interest in the dolls in the way that OP's puppy has. That's very strange!

    6. My dolls are kept far out of reach of both my dogs. I'm quite sure, especially if one of them got a hold of the dolls, they would be in tiny chewed up pieces. I have seen what one of my dogs have done to stuffed animals that have accidentally fallen on the floor x_x; My two cats do have access to my dolls, but they don't care about them. Now I all all my animals to pieces, even more than my BJDs, but my biggest fear is my collection being ripped to pieces by tiny teeth >>;;

    7. Well, I live in an apartment so I can't have pets here, but I have brought them to my parents house where they have two dogs. The smaller Chihuahua was indifferent, but the larger hunting dog was deathly afraid of my Super Gem boy. She's a scaredy cat (or should I say dog?) in general, but didn't hesitate to run away enthusiastically with a fur wig. Personally, I would not feel comfortable leaving pets unsupervised around my dolls haha.

    8. I have two cats living in my home, one is mine, the other belonging to my roommate. My cat is usually indifferent to the actual dolls, but loves to include herself when I'm making something for my dolls.. The other cat, that's another story.. Not in a bad way of course, she just happens to be very curious. So when certain activities, like box openings, changing of clothes, etc.., occur she's there. Usually to attempt to steal away with a limb to play with, or in the case of box openings, she can be found trying to figure out how to build a fort/home out of the bubble wrap.. Other then that though, neither cat seems to have any issue with the dolls, roommate's cat even poses for pictures with them.

    9. Typically my girls all stay up in my bedroom which lessens but doesn't prevent their exposure to my pets. Maddie, the previous dog we had, didn't pay much attention to any of my dolls when I'd bring them down, and our two new dogs Lucy and Jozee are curious but generally leave them alone.

Our cats are another story. Minnie doesn't pay much attention to them but not so with Tiger. Tiger seems to be most attracted to those dolls that are wearing shoes; he'll try to drag them off of my shelf by the shoe or the shoelace. Sometimes he'll try to bite them on the foot or hand and I have to shoo him away.

    10. My cat loves my dolls. He has been known to nuzzle them. He'll lay on top of them if he could, he's tried but I won't let him. He likes the way they smell and he likes to play with their wigs. He tried to take off with one of them once before. I've never seen him try to harm them. I think he knows I'd get mad at him.

    11. My cats love my dolls. When i got my first doll I had it pet one of the cats and now they throw themselves to be pet by my dolls when they see them. They don't hurt my dolls but they are always curious if they are there to love them too.

    12. Aw I love everyone's stories of their kitties loving their dolls. It gives me hope that kitties will either enjoy or be indifferent to my dolls. My 19 year old kitty I'm not worried about. She's a sweet little princess that sleeps on her bed all day. But my 9month old kitten is another story. Anything with shiny, crinkly, or dangly bits are toys for him. I do worry about him wanting to chew up wigs, shoes or clothes so I think I'm gonna have to make a display for my dolls when they come.

    13. I have two dogs and a cat. My cat basically ignores the fact I have dolls and will leave them alone, but on the rare occasion when my SD boy is within reach of her she just sits right next to him. It's weird she doesn't get close enough to touch him but close enough to be right next to him. Now my two dogs on the other hand are always very curious but luckily with my dolls they're also very respectful. They stay far enough away where I feel safe having my dogs and my dolls in the same place, though my dogs still look at my dolls with wonder filled eyes.

    14. i have two cats and she love the fur wigs very, some times i search the wigs under the bed, and they a very very wet :XD:.
i think she thinking thats are babys , but she ignore them with not fur wig

    15. I live in apartment and usually keep y dolls far away from the reach of my cat. According to my experience with my previous cat who liked to chew on my old Barbies hands and leggs, I didnt want to risk my BJDs. My new cat, however, is not really interested in dolls and they coexist together just fine =)

    16. My cats don't bother much, usually. But my little guy is super inquisitive, and I'll have to see how he acts around my girl when she comes home.

    17. My cat mostly ignores my dolls but sometimes if they are out she get it into her head that she wants to steal their wigs off their heads :XD:. Also I discovered that I can't have her in the room when I do a box opening because she wants to get into the box with the doll, play with the packing materials, and be in every photo if she can help it .

    18. I was recently at a panel for BJD at Colossalcon and posed this question, and I think it's interesting that those with cats told me that their kitties either loved or ignored their BJD :-)

One girl said her cat wanted to eat her dollie wigs, which gave the room a chuckle.

@phirah- That's hilarious that they try to steal the wigs! I bet if you used one of those little silicon wig caps they wouldn't be able to get said wigs off the heads of the dolls.

    19. My dogs could care less about my dolls.

    20. My cat keeps knocking down my doll, but luckily I keep her on the shelf nearest my bed at the moment so the only issue she's had is her tumble ruining her pose.
