It kinda made sense. I wonder if each face is made differently when it comes to the eyes... It sounds as if they just won't fit. I thought that the eyeball size stays the same and the measurement has to do with the iris...
Well since we're having this discussion about eyes, I'll put up some comparison pics. You guys might be right, it might be different for each sculpt, but this is my mermaid. Her eyewells are pretty deep. Here are 16mms (this one's sorta blurry, sorry) her usual 14mms These are the defaults that came with her. They appear to be 12mms. And here is 14mm and 16mm side by side. (Sorry, blurry again.)
OMG megpie252, thank you so much!! That was very helpful!! I'm thinking I'll try her out with a 16mm. If Ayas-Shadow is talking about the minis rather than the MSD dolls (on Planetdoll.com there are 43cm MSD and 27cm Minis) then I'm confident that mine will fit a size up in the eyes.
Oh! PD DO call the smaller size 'mini' don't they? I tend to call most 40cm range dolls 'mini', while the 27cm range dolls I tend to call '1/6 sized'. My girl is from the MSD, 43cm line of girls! It could just be that Emma has slightly smaller eye-wells than the others this size. Or that my girl's eye-wells weren't beveled properly after casting, causing them to not quite be big enough to fit 16mm eyes all the way in. Afterall, she DID come without her headcap, even though she was brand new!
Wow megpie - she is beautifull! we'll remind you next time what a great result all the work will give you. She looks like she was worth every minute!
I have been looking at Planetdoll girls so often now, I really really like them, but I thought my doll family was complete - until I realized my birthday is coming up in May. Lol! I may ask for lots of funds to get myself a Planetdoll girl. I still don't know which one to get though, I prefer Riz and Roseanne but the differences are so small that it'll be extremely hard to choose. What's nice is that a German doll seller (sweetnhoney) has them both in stock, which means no customs fees and low shipping cost. Yay! One question for you guys though - do you know where Planetdoll is located? http://www.planetdoll.net doesn't say anything about that, and their about and contact pages seem dead... P.S.: I LOVE the red mermaid above!! -edit- I just spent HOURS browsing through the first part of this topic (62 pages) after having browsed through this one.. To make choosing between Riz and Roseanne easier... But I have to tell you, I just made it harder for myself because now I can't choose between Riz, Roseanne... AND EMMA!!!! Grrrrr >.<
@Evelien Thanks for the compliment! Meanwhile I hope you get enough to get a Planetdoll I request more spam to help her decide.
Well, it looks like my next doll will be a planetdoll Dandy. I'm really happy I found him as I think he will work better for my character than the more expensive Souldoll that I had planned, and he will be much easier to clothe. It will be a while until I can get him, earliest I could order him would be June, which is a good thing because I am currently stuck between normal skin and tan skin. The character is outside a lot so I think the tan skin would look better, but I've never owned a tan skin doll before. How does planetdoll's tan skin hold up over time?
I totally vote you get an Emma! Mostly because she's my only PD, and I just LOVE her! I also got started on her face-up yesterday! I've still got the detailing, and maybe a little more blushing, to do on her. But first I'm waiting for good weather to seal anything I add. Yesterday we were in the high 70s, may have reached a full 80 degrees. Today was in the 30s, with SNOW! Yeah...Utah weather be CRAZY!
