It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Planetdoll 41cm, 43cm and 45cm Discussion Part 2

Nov 26, 2008

    1. YAY! Anna's wig and eyes have both now been officially shipped! I've found tutorials and patterns I can follow to make her clothes! I just need to dig up the fabrics I want to use!

    2. Skyeyze: She's beautiful!

And I am thrilled tonight! My girl's wig showed up today, and even blank, naked, and eyeless, she's gorgeous in it! AND! Hubby got me a new camera, too! So I should have photos by tomorrow. ^-^ I'm waiting for the camera batteries to charge now. ^-^

    3. Thank you Ayas-Shadow!

Looking forward to seeing your new girl!!

    4. skyeyze - Your girl is beautiful!

    5. Thank you Cyador!:)

    6. Still blank, eye-less, and naked (though nothing showing in the photo) But here's Anna! Her eyes should be here soon, and I should have sewing time next week for her!

I just love this little girl! And yeah, her wig needs a little re-styling, as it's a bit messy, but that's OK. She IS a little girl, afterall!

    7. @Ayas-Shadow Awww, she's still so cute anyway :D

    8. Her wig is gorgeous Ayas-Shadow!

    9. I'm just a lurker in this thread for now,
but I have a WS Planetdoll body on the way.

I was wondering if anyone has a picture of Fairyland WS and Planetdoll WS next to each other?

      I don't mind a little color difference
(it can be blushed or maybe I could mellow the PD paper white by exposing it to some sun)
      but I wouldn't like a huge difference.

Also, how does Dollchateau WS resin compare next to Planetdoll WS?

I know that Bobobie WS is a good match,
but none of their heads suits the character I have in mind,
so I'm exploring the other options...

    10. @ayas-shadow, that's a gorgeous wig! Really lovely color.

@*[E]*, Wish I could help; I've only got FL NS and PD NS :< Try asking in the resin comparisons thread in the Pic Requests forum too. You may find better info there.

      Thanks, guys! <3

Lolita's got a new faceup and almost a full new outfit... Now she's really ready for the thread <3

Don't let a new girl get lonely, let's see some more pic spam~

    11. Hi *[E]*,here's a picture with a FL and PD white skin comparison. There's a bigger difference than with Bobobie WS. It looks quite big there, but I've found it's not too hard to match up different white skins.
If, in your case, you need to make the head whiter (less yellowish or pinkish anyway), you can always blush the head with white in several key areas when almost done with the face-up to lessen the contrast. (I've done that for a DIM NS head and Soom Cream White body, as well as a NS PD head and fresh skin DT body for instance.)
Also, my WS PD tinies have mellowed a little bit over time, so the difference would get less.

vanzinger: Your Lolita is so cute! :D
I really need to take some new pictures of my boy and girl this weekend too so they can help keep her from getting lonely.

    12. @ vanzinger: I was looking in the regular coparison topic,
but either I missed it or there were no relevant comparisons for me.
I didn't check the tiny comparison thread though... :)

@Wolfboy: thanks for your response ^_^
whatever I decide, I will post the results in this topic anyway, so you'll see in a while... :)

    13. E, I have several white dolls -- the Planetdoll white (which I've had for 2 1/2 years and may be only slightly less stark than it originally was) is definitely the starkest, brightest white I have. It's definitely as white, if not whiter, than Bobobie/Resinsoul. I tried that sun trick with my Resinsoul white body, BTW, and it yellowed the doll more than mellowed it (and aggravated yellowing with age). I suspect that would be the case with Planetdoll too, since it appears to have absolutely no color to it.

My Fairyland head is on an Impldoll body, which is a much creamier white. In fact, I would say that the closest you might come to Planetdoll white (other than Bobobie) would be a Soom cream-white. Soom's whites can be quite stark, but it's always iffy. Soom's whites change all the time.

It would be no trouble at all to put a white Planetdoll head on any other white body, because the head will be lighter and easily blushed. Going the reverse tho, you'd probably have to at least blush the neck/chest area of a white Planetdoll body a little bit. And the hands.

    14. I'm definitely new to this forum as well as to the whole BJD world. I just bought a PlanetDoll-Tara from DDE. I'm waiting on a few wigs and outfits that I've already bought her. Here is a sample pic:

Of course I had to blog about her! She's so gorgeous! More pics on my blog and if you click on the slideshow at the end of the blog post it will take you to my photography website and you can view the slideshow full screen.

I'm addicted and already contemplating my next BJD...:fangirl:

    15. I even made her jewelry! Never done it before but pretty simple with the help of youtube.

    16. She is beautiful Katzy! Lovely photograph.
Welcome to the world of BJD...warning it is addicting and a lot of fun! :)

    17. Thanks so much skyeyze!

    18. She's really cute and her jewelry looks great too Katzy, congratulations!

*[E]*: I have to agree with AnitaS: PD's white is as white as it gets. From other comparisons I've seen in the thread I gave a link to, it's definitely whiter than Bobobie/Resinsoul white. The PD WS doll I have that shows the most 'mellowing' is the tiny I've had for about 1,5 years, and looking closer it's especially her upper body that seems to have mellowed a bit, as well as her face. The latter could also be because of the (many!) layers of MSC I gave it, which gave it more of a softer cream colour. And I sanded the upper half of her torso when I gave her a breast reduction, which made the resin a bit rougher, so that seems to have have helped too. Her arms are still pretty much as they where when I got her, her hands, which were sprayed with UV-cut, look less white-white.
Maybe spraying the body with some non-UV cut MSC -with or without blushing - (instead of very light sanding of the whole body) after very lightly sanding her neck first (just to give it a little 'tooth' and make it less shiny white) will help a bit as well in giving you more hybrid options.
Of course it also depends what you're after: if you just want her head to match well in pictures, this combined with whitening the head in some places will probably make most WS hybrids to the PD body work, but if you want a nice match IRL, then your options will be a lot smaller.
Added later: I totally forgot:doh, but the head is at least 1 year older (ca. 2,5-3 years old now) than the body, and when the body arrived I could already see a slight difference, so I'd say that yes, the PD white resin does mellow over time, it becomes a little more creamy. The head and upper torso of the doll I mentioned before are now close to my Soom CS doll when it first arrived. I have though kept my white PD dolls out of the light as opposed to my other white skin dolls, so I'm not sure if that would have helped mellow them any further. Based on the difference where I sanded her upper torso, I'd say it probably would have somewhat, or at least accelerated the process.

    19. The wig arrived today! :D
So nice to have one that actually fits her head properly. :doh
