    1. Aka do you have floating heads? For me I have some dolls that do not share. Either cuz no one else fits their size, resin color, or I have one for each of that size. My minifees however . . . Lol they have to share. Right now I have one “normal” resin minifee body and 4 heads to rotate. I’ve got a minifee DES on preorder plus the dreaming head too. So that’ll be 6 heads, 2 bodies.

But I’m actually fine with that! I don’t like having all my dolls out at once. I like changing up which head is on display. Which sounds insane when you say that out loud  But how do you like to collect?

    2. So far I've gotten mainly full dolls, so there so I've never had heads needing to share a body One of my Fairyland Real Puki has a sleeping face, but that's her alternate face plate. My hybrid is only head and body I ordered separately, so I have no extra head.

I'm getting my first Fairyland Minifee this week, and he's one of the limited time blue resin ones that comes with the Soo Dark Elf "A" head in the same color. So it's possible the two heads will be my only ones sharing a body.

    3. I’ve bought with the intention to share on the odd occasion but always end up not wanting to do the actual swapping so either I try to find another body or I end up selling one of the heads.

    4. My situation varies. Ultimately it's nice in some ways for everyone to have their own body, but also there are benefits to some sharing. I think if I had a larger living space (re: even 500 sq ft.) And could display them in clusters, I would probably want them to all have their own bodies. Just because then I never encounter the problem of "I want to photograph x and y together but I can't because they use the same body" but it's usually fine to me, as long as floating heads/sharing is still the minority. In a small area I do get overwhelmed and I don't mind letting characters take a short break if they are not my focus

    5. I currently have 2 floating heads. One can definitely share the one Luts body I got specifically for Luts event heads. The other is an older Soom head and matching his resin is pretty impossible. I might get him a bust to display on...or find an old body someday haha.

    6. My Switch boys share a body. Mainly because they are so expensive. I do feel guilty about it and also I cannot photograph them together without a second body. Maybe I get another on the second hand market at some point.

    7. I wasn't sure how to answer because I think my answer doesn't really fit any of those options very well. For me, a body is every bit as important as a head. It's part of who the character is, and I spend as much...or more...time trying to pick the perfect body. Because of this, every doll has their own body, not even any duplicates of the same body sculpt. But I still *technically* have floating heads because two of my dolls have alternate heads that will never get their own bodies.

    8. I’d consider that “Everyone has a body.” I tie my dolls to characters too. My sleeping head is a separate character but if she wasn’t, I wouldn’t really count her as a floater. :sweat

    9. Floating heads drive me nuts. They have to have their own body. I don't have any right now, and on the rare occaision I do get a head by itself the very next thing I get is a body. I love seeing all my dolls at once and them just being a head isn't nearly as much fun. Their style is a huge part of who they are and a head just doesn't portray that.

    10. @lully.lullers Do you also have this situation where the "less important" characters/dolls are the ones to share, but the dolls which are "primary/main" characters always need to have their own body? What would you say it depends on? Or just technicalities like space, availability?

Up until a week ago, I had as many heads as bodies, but now I have two extra heads. One I got as a kind gift. I don't have any idea for him, but I will repaint him and see what my imagination comes up with. The other head is for a character who'll sometimes be more realistic, and sometimes less. So it's sort of alternate. Also, both are sleeping lol :D The thing is that one of these heads sharing a body have a company faceup but no CoA, and I'm afraid to change the faceup, but the other is blank (and has its CoA), so I finally have a chance to paint it the way and, hopefully, be 100% satisfied with how it reflects the character.

    11. I knew from the very beginning of discovering these dolls, that I would never want too many of them, but I was always okay with owning multiple floating heads. I own about eight floating resin heads, most of which I always intended to keep as floating heads.

The body those heads share belongs to my largest doll, whom I always intended to keep as a complete doll. I just happen to use his body, to take photos of most of my floating heads on it, but I never had any intention of buying floating bodies. I keep that doll while all the time, and only switch heads for photos of the floating ones.

I also like owning floating heads of other kinds of dolls, because I am a hoarder, but mostly because once the pieces are no longer being produced, they tend to rise quickly and never really stop (in terms of second market prices). I rather own the piece if I really want it, rather than regret not owning it. Even if I never do anything with it (particularly1:6 action figures, because people are willing to pay way too much for parted out pieces from full set figures in that genre, and sadly I am not). (:

    12. Yes :sorry lol My custom dyed minifee is my ride or die. She's been through a lot of my trial and error projects. So she's def special. The others I love, but I prefer saving space. :sweat I find how easy it is to swap heads makes FL easy to collect extras noggins.

    13. I tried it, years ago, and found the result was one head remaining on the body while the other just sat untouched in the box so gave up and went for full dolls each time.

    14. I usually don't have plans for dolls that are floating heads, which are usually order bonuses or something that came with a second hand listing, so I don't mind keeping them just a head to practice on until I one day get an idea and then I get their own body for them. But the idea-less heads are just going to be heads. I think it's going to be quite the hassle (and expensive) to find a body for every head I'll ever have, although I've recently got some busts to stick them on. I do have to say, floating heads make pretty good props for dolls and scenes though, so I'm not in a rush to think of ideas or get them bodies. I don't think I'll ever have dolls share a body though since I have some obsessiveness with every doll having their own set of things and I don't like repeating the same body, even if it's just head sharing.

    15. I have one floating head - only because another head stole the body :sweat I don't like the situation but the head is a special piece of work so I'm not brave enough to sell it yet, even though it doesn't fit with the rest and I'm never swapping it back onto the body probably. Technically, I also have floating faceplates but they don't really count as they are just extra expressions, same as extra hands or heel feet. All in all, I'd rather have less full dolls than a few bodies and tons of heads, I like posing all my dolls together too much.

    16. I take the body into account when looking for dolls, because when I buy a doll I already have a specific character in mind, so if I got a floating head, I would probably also be ordering a body at the same time. For me, there's no point in having them if they're not out on display where I can see them.

    17. I voted "No floating heads". I want my dolls to be able to interact with each other.

But I do actually have a floating body, sort of.
I bought a Df-H body to diplay one of my own heads but then later made a body to go with the head instead. But I rather like the Df-H body, so I don't feel like selling it. One day I will find the perfect head, until then the body wears a prototype cast of my head so it looks like a complete doll, even if it has no character attached to it right now.

    18. Oh noes…not here!:...( I just can’t bear for one of my dolls to be incomplete in any way, let alone bodiless. Each one is an original character, which is very important to me and makes them seem very “real” in my mind. So I just can’t handle a floating head…it gives me no shortage of pure angst. Oh, I’ve tried it, but I just can’t do it for more than a week. I have purchased a few heads over the years by necessity because it was the only way to get them. But I’ll only do that if I absolutely have to and there’s no other way to get a full doll (dolls only released by the artist as heads or event heads.) And then I’ll drive myself nuts immediately trying to find them an appropriate body…cue the extreme angst!

    19. Ideally I would love for all my dolls to have their own bodies. Unfortunately I'm getting to the point now where I don't have space to store them. And there is nowhere in my flat to display them. Two of my dolls are sharing a body at the moment and I'm okay with it, because the body suits them both, I rarely photograph more than one doll at once, and I just keep the dolls in a drawer when I'm not playing with them anyway, so there isn't actually any need for them to have their own.

    20. Currently only have 4 floating heads. I plan to get them all their own bodies when I can. I'm planning to order another head soon and then figure out what body I want for him. After that, I have a girl I plan to buy when she's available and if it all works out, that girl will share a head with one of my other girls, which frees up that body for one of my floating heads.

So yeah once I get around to it, those should be the only dolls that share and everyone else is going to eventually end up with their own bodies.

I'm doing better than I used to, and have way less floating heads than I did before. So yeah it's taking time, but I'm slowly getting there! XD
