1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

[Poll] Expressive sculpts, yay or nay?

Feb 2, 2021

?
  1. Not expressive at all! I like a blank slate.

    4.9%
  2. Somewhat expressive. A slight smile or frown is fine, but no more than that.

    36.9%
  3. More expressive than not. Grumpy, pouting, smirking, etc, faces are great!

    20.4%
  4. The most expressive possible! Give me all the screaming, snarling, and grinning sculpts!

    4.4%
  5. Depends on the character or doll, I don't have a general opinion on it.

    33.3%
    1. I enjoy the appearance of more expressive dolls, and I am currently looking for a happy-looking sculpt for a character I am planning to shell. Not how sure how extreme I want her expression to be though.

Overall I think expressive dolls are super fun and I would like to see more of them. A few years ago I considered getting a group of dolls based on the five stages of grief and I wanted them to be very expressive. Might still get around to doing that some day, we shall see...

    2. For my own characters, I prefer the regular type of sculpts with no set or subtle expression, but otherwise I absolutely LOVE dolls with dramatic expressions, I just think they look neat and unique! I genuinely don't know what it is that attracts me to them, but it might be the slight uncanny valley factor since I'm really fascinated by the look.

    3. I love expressive dolls that are children. Not so much on adult dolls.

    4. My thoughts exactly!

    5. Yes, I would LOVE to see more faceplate systems!! I can hope, right? :sweat

    6. I'm finding more and more that I love both neutral and expressive sculpts, depending on the character that comes to mind for them or what kind of expression it is. For instance, I have future plans for an IOS Infernale, I adore his expression and the extra tongue bits, but also plan on getting an extra Lacrimosa head for a more neutral look for the same character. And at the same time, a headsculpt I'm not super fond of is Granado Hansel. I don't mind dolls with purposeful uneven eyes, or smiles (I have plans for dolls with both of these features separately) but combining them together in one face unsettles me, somehow. So, it all depends!

    7. It really depends on the character. If they're not the type to really smile, I look for a sculpt with a rather blank expression. If they're the sinister type, I look for a doll that scowls almost constantly.

I have never really liked the sculpts with open-mouth smiles. They look too weird, a lot of them.
