Pregnant and Chubby BJDs

I would want chubby ones, but also sculpts of elderly people that show signs of ageing, like having wrinkles and looser skin.

But they had to be of the more realistic BJD kind. I like Iplehouse sculpts a lot but they would never create either chubby or elderly sculpts like that. At least I don't think they would!

 

I want a plus size doll that isn't just a dramatic pear shape with thick thighs

 

Not sure it's been mentioned here yet, but there is a Dollfie Dream Choice body called Mochi Ashi that has the cuuuutest chubby legs! I just got one and I love how unusual and adorable she is!

My favorite curvy doll body that is more realistic and less stylized has always been the Aoi Tuki Tukihime. I don't know if it is still made anymore, though.

But, akin to what @appleskins mentioned, I would also say that I still haven't seen any chubby dolls that have the chubbiness represented in the torso along with the legs, so being more even instead of always a pear shape.

Also, gosh, I seeeeeem *straaaaains memory* to remember a pregnant doll a while ago--like the resin doll itself had the pregnant belly, it wasn't a mod or anything. But for the life of me I will never remember what it was. It was so long ago (like I think this was when I first got into the hobby in the mid-2000s) that I'm not even sure it is still made, if I didn't make it up. You may be able to find mentions of it in the thread archive, though, if it did exist.

 

i love the concept of chubby bjds, especially boys with bigger belly's and thighs but honestly i don't think it'd would be possible to make it look good, fat is soft and shifts a lot depending on your position resin being so solid can never mimic that so it would always just look weird i think.

 

I agree. It would be nice to have dolls with greater body diversity... maybe through add-on silicone pads to add shape under outfits?

 

It was Angel of Dream Hui Xiang (Pregnant version). A part of me has always wanted to get her body, but I have yet to have a character the right size / skintone / whathaveyou who would use it. Also not a big fan of the baby compartment gimmick- why can't we let Barbie have that and stick to unblemished sculpting on BJDs? At least it worked a little bit better on Ringdoll's Eva and her Bride of Frankenstein aesthetics. There have been a couple of people on Etsy who have made detachable magnetic parts for the Minifee body too, but I'm not sure if they're still going.

On the chubby front, although Le Grande has sadly closed and Summerbird seems to be between preorders for now, Argonautica appears to have no plans of stopping semi-regular preorder periods for their plus-size SD lady. I was able to acquire one on the MP... that doesn't match any of my plus-sized characters. Crossing my fingers that I can get into their next one. I have a dryad woman and a tiefling bloke I want to shell. Mastectomying that chest is going to be a bugger though.

And on that note, IslandDoll and Summerbird are still the only non-mod options for gents, although the Leekeworld Art and Dust of Dolls bodies work if you can get ahold of them. I did see someone on Instagram who was working on a plus-size MSD fellow, but they haven't updated in a while. I'm hoping they do go on to finish and get him casted. The interest is there, but it's a slow uphill climb.

 

@Loptr That must have been it, though I do not remember the "baby compartment"! I agree that is pretty gimmicky. I also agree that the limited options for her skin tone/face sculpt/size would have in turn limited her character customization a lot, so that is too bad.

 

I would *love* to have a chubby SD male!!! A "dad bod" look would be so good to have for character designs! I get really creeped out by how thin males will be depicted... I'm concerned as to how that's seen as the standard haha.

Pregnant is not for me, but that's due to personal issues. However, the ones I've seen mentioned are pretty cute! I could see a pregnant doll be a lovely addition to one's dollfie family

 

I definitely prefer more solid dolls like Iplehouse, I really don't like skinny bodies. I would definitely be interested in a 'chubby' BJD as long as it was in proportion.

A pregnant BJD with a magnetised bump and a BJD baby inside would be amazing! I would love to own a realistic BJD baby.

 

Please yes more body diversity. Chubby dolls, pregnant dolls, dad bods, slight pudge, love handles, big and tall, big and small, apple shape, pear shape, all the shapes, in all the possible resin colors. I'd also love to see more "older" looking sculpts - mature dolls that could pass as older parents or grandparents when gravity takes hold and they become shorter and wider.

 

Definitely this. I was super heartened to see the body diversity making it's way into off topic dolls but I'd love to see dad bod male bjds. And a chubby female bjd too.

Not a huge fan of the idea of a pregnant sculpt though but that is just me.

I tried to email Aoi Tuki the other day to ask if they will still sell their dolls or bodies... I am not even sure I hit the right buttons to send it but hopefully they will answer. Does anyone speak/read decent Japanese, because i do not!

 

I don't know if they've already been mentioned, but MorningStarDolls has chubby 1/6 scale girl dolls that are actually chubby with belly fat, not just thick thigh-ed. The creator also seems to be working on an SD/56cm version of her chubby body. The 1/6 doll looks to be available in three skintones when preorder opens again.

Would not mind having a cute girl BJD who was also pregnant. Probably would have to have her maternity dress custom made, though.

 

Just wanted to update here that Legrand Doll is planning to do another pre-order for Lidia this year! I got the info directly from the artist on Instagram. I was lucky enough to find a second hand Lidia recently and she is my favorite doll.

 

A plus sized doll would be so cute but idk about pregnant...?
I have never been pregnant so it is not really something I'm interested in. I don't see myself bonding with a pregnant doll. Although a chubby one sounds like fun, I'm not chubby but I think chubby dolls look so cute and cuddly.
Now that I think about it, a pregnant doll with a belly and a bjd baby inside of her would be an excellent idea. It would make things interesting. Maybe make her a hollow belly with magnets and put the baby inside?

I think she’s been mentioned in the thread before, but AOD did make a doll with this concept. I don’t know if anyone else has risen to the occasion, though. Conceptually I think it’s neat having the baby separate/removable, but all the best applications I can come up with for that feature are definitely on the creepy side.
