Pregnant and Chubby BJDs

I’m down for different body types in general. Would love a chubby doll.

Honestly if they were to make a pregnant bjd they should just have it as an add-on. I wouldn't want my girls to be eternally preggers...

 

I would love a vinyl chubby guy, with soft vinyl like angelphilia -- much better than hard resin for that, imo I think we need more male bodies in general! Especially vinyl!

 

This is an old thread, but I found that Dika is making a pregnant torso for their 2nd generation 65cm body while I was browsing TaoBao. I could not find it mentioned in the forums and it's not listed with their distributors, so I thought I would share. I think it's beautiful!

I'm on the fence with chubby dolls, I really want one but clothing her would propably be hard or expensive or both. Also the mobility might be an issue.

Pregnant dolls are a hard pass for me. Good to have them for those who want them though. The one @Ardent linked is really beautiful.

 

I definitely would not be interested in a pregnant bjd. A chubby doll would be ok. I don't know if I would want one unless the rest of the doll also appealed to me. I'm overweight myself, and I like my dolls portraying something I can't be. . . slim.

 

I just found a BJD from a quite unknown Chinese artist that I think a lot of people would be interested in. I'm not sure if it can be considered plus-size, but it's clearly heavily inspired by old European art aesthetic that I find more attractive than today's beauty standard. It's the most gorgeous female BJD body that I've seen, and I hope it will be re-released someday and there will be a way to get one. I also like that it's not as stylized as other female bodies out there.

It doesn't look like any body that I've seen, and the artist documented it's sculpting, so I hope it's okay to mention it on the forum. Their name on Weibo is 茶阿茶ZJ_浮螢岛 and the doll is named Remedios.

My Chinese knowledge is quite limited, but it seems there was a sale in November 2020, but the post also mentions a lottery, so I'm not entirely sure. I also saw some owner pics. And apparently the artist has a Taobao shop, though I couldn't find it, but I'm not on Taobao, so I can't search on the website. And a few days ago the artist released a shiba inu BJD, so they are still active.

 

@manekinekonokuni The taobao shop is here! I knew I had seen that shiba inu listing floating around while I was browsing, so I found it through that. I also found the listing for the sale of this particular doll, which has clearer pictures of the whole body! The sale period has ended and the artist doesn't seem to show any signs of opening another ordering period, though.

Personally I wouldn't consider this body plus size (she mostly just seems like a more realistically proportioned slim woman to me) but maybe compared to other 60cm ladies she would look thicker? Either way she's beautiful, I really like her face.

 

Thank you for the link to the Taobao shop! To me she looks like she's around bmi 25 -- barely overweight from a medical perspective. I was size 10 when I was that BMI so agree not plus sized, but I'm happy she showed up in this thread as a heavier doll because I might not have known about her otherwise.

I also wouldn't say she's chubby, rather she has a healthy curvy body, and especially thicker legs than most dolls, but this was the only active thread I could find about "bigger than usual" body types, and I thought she differs enough from that "model type" that seems to be common.

 

I would absolutely love a chubby doll! That is my favorite body type for figures, but with BJD I would probably hesitate to buy even if I found a chubby girl, because I can't sew and finding clothes to fit would likely be a nightmare.

 

I would definitely be interested in chubby dolls. Like, actually chubby ones, not only childlike or just slightly bigger than average doll bodies. I have seen some doll artists around that make bigger bodies and that makes me really happy. One of my dearest own characters is a chubby man, and I would absolutely love to have him as a doll at some point. I really don't want to shell him as a muscular man since that's not what he is.

Pregnant dolls don't sit right with me even though I have nothing against it. Pregnancy is just not something that interests me the slightest.
