Pregnant and Chubby BJDs

I'd be interested in seeing them but I likely would not buy either. It would be a window shopping event for me.

 

Body types are nice to have a large variety in, so any addition to that is great, chubby or no. I do think chubby is cute on some, but I can also see mobility issues depending on how that was sculpted, which also effects looks. I guess it would be a challenge for a sculptor.

Pregnant... I see why it would be wanted, but personally... I dunno, I guess it kind of weirds me out a lot. Inter-changable belly is a better alternative, but even then... you end up with this pregnant torso floating around somewhere and then I think about a baby being in it and really it's just very buggy to me, I guess because it's kind of like getting a doll with a parasite and that parasite'll always be there. Which obviously, babies aren't exactly parasites, but when you have a solid doll it's sort of like ... a fossilized fetus or something. Maybe I'm going way overboard with it, and maybe it's because I've not had a child, but I wouldn't prefer it for myself.

 

It wouldnt be too hard to sculpt a magnetic pregnant belly I think. Youd just need to get magnets onto the inside of her torso which would be a bit tricky to drill and attatch.

 

I like the idea of both. Though, the idea of a switchable torso is a great idea for the pregnant belly. But OMG I would die to have a chubby bjd!! Curvy! Chubby! Rolly Polly!! I would seriously buy one!!

 

Yes on a chubby doll or even entirely plus sixed. Bigger women with curves are equally just as beautiful. While I did get my yo sd for the fact she was chubbier than others and I thought it was adorable; a plus sized "adult" bjd would have me dipping into my savings immediately

 

I have seen a few dolls with bigger thighs and hips, but that's it. I would love a chubbier doll. The only issue I think is there would have to be a separate line of clothing for them and people might price gauge you if you don't know how to make your own and don't have your doll permanently in skirts and dresses. Pregnant.. I'm not sure. Maybe this detachable idea, but I wouldn't want visible magnets on her all the time when the belly is off.

 

I have a few characters who are heavier set, and it would be really cool to have a wider variety choice for dolls with a little more pudge.

I think pregnancy would be interesting, but really difficult to achieve without using pillows. I did think some of the earlier ideas with exchangeable torsos for the part would be neat to see though.

 

I've been planning on buying the sleeping version of my first doll and modding that second body to be pregnant I may as well since she and her fiance are having a lot of kids XD Also a chubbier doll may be nice for one of my girls.

 

I looove the idea of magnetic pregnant bellies. Although I bet a customizer could maybe make some.

I would really really love chubby dolls. I tots understand that poseability wouldn't be quite as good, but that's totally fine. I would still love to see some in the market.

I wouldn't really be interested. I don't have any heavier-set characters I'm looking to shell, and truth be told just looking at pregnant bellies on real women is very squicky for me. I find it kind of scary. (OT: Although, I do want to have my own kids one day.) I want to shell a character who has some babies, but if I ever needed to depict that stage of her life in a photostory I would stuff her clothes or something, then change it right after. The idea of a permanently pregnant doll on my shelf disturbs me, especially when that character is very immature in looks. (As, let's face it, a lot of bjds are.)

 

I think a chubby BJD would be interesting. I mean there are anthro's all over the place and fantasy types with horns and hooves and 8 arms...

 

I would love a pregnant doll. being pregnant was so magical and amazing, i dont think i would give her a character, just keep her like i would a painting. i think its beautiful and strong, and even sexy. whenever i see pregnant women i just want to touch their tummies (i don't though!). i remember seeing one on enchanteddoll.com, and it was the only one i have seen that has the actual belly bulge instead of a flat tummy with a painting of a baby.
i was thinking about chubby dolls today, and would like one of those, too. i love the waif-like bodies that many artists make. its incredible looking. but i love the human body in many of it's forms and can appreciate beauty in different shapes. especially if a chubby doll were very round and fleshy looking, instead of just wide. not just wide hips but soft, pillowy breasts and thighs and arms, giving resin an appearance of soft flesh. incidentally, when i think of a mother, i think of a chubby, soft woman with strong arms and a bosom children fall asleep on after a tiring day. soft round curves, like the women in old greek paintings.
i like the bodies of real people, of different shapes, sizes, and complexions. i wish there were wider varieties to life-like miniatures. beauty isnt confined to thin, pointed nose people.

Not so sure about pregnant BJD's though...

 

I'd be happy with chubby BJD's BUT - most of my gang are children and I have trouble finding flat chested SD sized bodies for the girls, the likelihood of a chubby, immature, female, SD-sized body hitting the market doesn't seem like something that is going to happen anytime soon, since slim, immature, female, SD-sized bodies are already rarer than hens teeth.

While I'd love to see chubby dolls being produced for the people who do want them, I probably wouldn't buy any myself

My fictional setting is one in which a) there isn't much food to go around, b) most jobs are very physical and c) restraint is a virtue amongst the higher classes (so even those with the resources to gorge themselves don't do so). So I really don't have any chubby characters to shell.

I've seen a really neat trick a couple times, people use the headcaps as bellies for photostories / photograph purposes. If you pull the pants up and the shirt over it a bit, it's a resin match and looks like a belly
