1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Pros and Cons of Soom Mecha Angels

Aug 26, 2008

    1. smaller kids chairs work, antique ones tend to be in better scale but I managed to find some modern dining style chairs that work perfectly for 70-80cm dolls

    2. Vulpes- Cool now I know exactly what I am looking for.

    3. I was just skimming through this thread and hit on the mentions of muscular arm replacements? Can anyone fill me in on that? I bought a Corvi right when he came out so he's got the skinny arms.

    4. I asked and they told me on the Q&A board that people who ordered the original mecha angels from them could now order the newer more muscular arms for $131 (add as gift certs)

you may just want to double check before you order though

    5. Something I noticed That kinda bugs me is sometimes Freya will kinda fling herself backwards... that gave me a heart attack...

    6. Well, I've had my Sabik (Marcus) for a couple weeks now, so here goes:

Pros: That FAAAACE!!! *giggle* He's got such personality just bursting at the seams, he gives me mad giggles to look at him.
Torso! From shoulders to butt, Pure Love, baby!
I, for one, am very glad his feet are small enough to fit large SD13boy shoes. ^_^ (Though he's currently wearing a pair of Volks boots that a friend sent me..)
      His overall size - YUM!
(Yeah, the second they make a life-sized Ichigo Kurosaki, anatomically correct doll, I'll be first in line! hur hur)

Cons: Yup. Gotta hot glue suede those ankles! I haven't yet, but (almost) always pose him such that he's lightly leaning somewhere vital. ;)
Just had one of his fingers break off! :o I had to really think back to remember he'd fallen face first onto the carpet from a standing position on the floor hours earlier in the day, and the finger had even stayed on as we tried on a long sleeved t-shirt I'd made ... the only time I can think of that he might have twigged that finger... O_o Superglued right back on, no worries, but still... :( *sniffle* He's all broken in now...

The skinny arms don't bother me as much as everyone else mentioning it about my boy. >< rar

His neck is kind of long, but really only if you're below eye level, looking up at him. Otherwise... looks fine to me.

Overall? I'm kicking myself wondering why I didn't get him sooner! ;)

    7. lol I got my Sabik for the same reason, to be my 7'7" character, even if he's too skinny for him.
Cons: Like said, finding clothes, but for me mostly, lugging him around at a con or meet. He reaches 6 pounds fully clothed. That doesn't sound like much, but carrying him around for a few hours, your arm wants to fall off.

Pros: They're gorgeous, and the jointed hands available sometimes are a major bonus, I don't know how I ever stood the unjointed before and it still bugs me when I fool with my other dolls. I don't worry about Sabik's hands breaking like any other, if it gets struck, his fingers just fold in. Another pro I find is the striking appearance of his size, the figure draws attention easily and he stands out. I hosted a panel at last year's local anime con and he and my Beryl seemed to get most of the attention out of anything we had on the table, partly for their size and elegance.

    8. Wow, thanks again everyone! :D
I wish I could get a Sabik, but they're all sold out right now :(
Oh well, I don't have the money either, so I suppose it's all good cuz then he can't taunt me :sweat

    9. Don't worry, he is not sold out for good. Mecha Angels are FFD dolls, which means For Five Days. Every month, there is a period of 5 days (from 15 till 19th if I am correct) where you can order a mecha angel. One month you can get the boys, other month the girls, and so on. Soom puts a notice up before every FFD period to tell which dolls you can order in that period.

    10. Oh... ok then, thank you Velvet Bat :D
Noooo, now he can taunt me!!!!!!! :...( :? :shudder

    11. That's what I thought, which means I get to order my Sabik Elf next month :D

Somebody had mentioned that their ears are really thin, and I was wondering if that had changed at all? I've been contemplating piercing his ears, but if they're too thin then I'll just fake it.

    12. Does anyone know if I could request a smaller chest on the Mecha Angel Saiph? Is that possible? I'm not sure what I can request and what I can't. I e-mailed them about 2 weeks ago and haven't received a response. Not that I'm complaining, I'm pretty sure they have their plates full. yikes!
If anyone can give me some info on this i would really appreciate it. Thanks!

    13. I like the general idea of the mecha angels, but 80cm is terribly tall! Is it possible to buy clothes for them, any place other than the Soom site?

      Jen 8)

    14. They only have one body sculpt right now for the female mecha angels, so there aren't different bust options available for them from Soom. You'd either need to sand it down to a size you prefer, or look into making a hybrid of some kind (though I have no idea what would work, match, or fit unfortunately).

    15. Hmm.. there are some people who actually sell MA sized clothing on DoA; for example, Tata's Paradise those; but she sells male MA clothing only, no female MA stuff ^^;

I guess you could also commission someone to make clothes specifically for the MA size as well if you're really stuck on trying to find clothes for a MA.

    16. Thanks! I was looking at photos of her and her chest actually doesn't seem that big. I don't know what i was thinking before. :doh

    17. I have a question,if I buy a mecha angel next month he will have the skinny arm or the muscular arm?
The skinny arm are only on the old mecha angel and the new come automatically with muscular arm?
      Thanks!

    18. You can commission reasonably-priced clothes, my sister has a Saiph (which she adores) and she loathes the style of Soom MA female clothes (you could dress them in sacks an they'd look the same). She's gotten her girl a nice custom wardrobe thanks to the Marketplace. :)

The guys have more/better options than the girls, oh, and when looking for people who are doing clothes it's generally easier to work with someone who had a MA in-house, is my recommendation, or someone who has access to one locally. Good luck!

      .hlp

    19. All MAs ordered now come with the more muscular arms. The skinny arms aren't available anymore from what I've heard.

    20. 0.0 I didn't know there was a different one now! ;_; I wish I could get muscly arms for my MA guy. His arms are so scrawny, not fitting of his character at all.
