1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Pros and Cons of Soom Mecha Angels

Aug 26, 2008

    1. When did you get your MA boy? Only the first two releases of Sabik and the first release of Corvi had the old skinny arms. Soom offered people who bought those releases directly from them the option to buy the new arms for something like $60.? Every doll since then has the new arm style.

The new arms really are not much larger but they do have a lot more definition than the completely muscle free stick arms from the first few guys.

I'm still boggled as to why the MA boys have smaller wrists and hands than the MA girls.

    2. Hrmmm Wondering about the arms as well.. The Corvi I adopted recently is supposedly from one of the first runs.. So I am wondering if he will have the stick arms of the more muscled arms. I don't think I would have an option for the arms though if they ask for an item or purchase number or anything. :(

    3. ;_; I never got any such offer... And yeah, I got mine on the end of the first release of the elf Sabik I think. November 2007.

    4. They didn't contact anyone directly. There was a notice on the Soom home page and I think somebody posted a thread about it here in Larger Dolls. :sweat

It was a little over a year ago when the offer was made. Maybe if you contact them they will let you buy them now. :clover

    5. Hey guys are there any photos of these dolls "mecha angels" you talk about??? I am really curious and am new to DOA. :)

    6. Here's a link to them on the Soom site.

    7. I searched and couldn't find any threads showing the posability of Soom's Mecha Angels. I'd like to see pictures of what kind of poses MA's can do, or if you know any threads that have good poses please share!

I actually just received a Sabik, but I don't have much experience posing big dolls, and I think that he's alittle floppy.

If you post pictures, please also tell if you've sueded/wired your dolls.

      Thank you! :D

    8. I just got my Mecha boy and his head is to small for his body. I love everyting else about him. He poses really well, he looks good in all kinds of clothes and wigs. His hands are really nice. His feet are not to big to fit into other shoes and boots. He is easy to sew for. I just have to replace his body with one of a shorter neck and less broad shoulders and smaller torso. I will have to find a BIGGER boy head for that body.

    9. Mine was sent floppy to, he was silly to pose :| Tightening his strings, getting him into a decent pair of shoes [boots work best I found] and giving him some wiring/sueding should sort it.

I don't have any pics available sorry, my family lost the camera's usb cord so it's kinda hard to get them uploaded :sweat

    10. Aww, that's okay. Thanks anyway. :)
Err, I didn't mention that Sabik also came with a broken foot. :doh I'm now hoping that Soom will send me a new one. That would be my first step to better posing. haha

Thanks for the advice! I would love to try all of those things. My other dolls are all so fabulous that none of them have ever needed restringing/sueding/whatnot. xD
(Not that you're not fabulous Sabik, you're just... high-maintenance. :P)

    11. My Sabik was strung pretty well when I got him, never redid them, but a guy in our Louisiana group sueded him for me at our slumber party Spring of last year and that helped him stand quite well. He hasn't got the best balance because he's so tall, but he can stand if I adjust him right.
lol His first standing picture, not the best, but! Hitchhiker Kristos.

    12. ohhhhh......

      WANTS!!! :aheartbea:aheartbea

but the face-up and body blushing prices make him too expensive at the moment

the MA clothes look really good, if you spend that many $$ on Sabik (OK, so he's my fave :) ) he really deserves the appropriate wardrobe

    13. ;_; I just wish they made more beautiful full set outfits. lol I'd love it even more if they made them for cheaper too, but that's not a reasonable request.

    14. Haha, Kristos looks fabulous! Thanks for the picture. :)

This is unrelated but I stayed in Lafayette once on a mission trip (about a 6 hour drive, stayed for a week). It killed me because I had two internet friends there- but I didn't get to tell them where I would be. xD We were in the same city!!!! Ah!!!
... Anyway, if I ever get to go back and have my own free schedule, it'd be fabulous to meet you and the rest of the Louisiana Resin group. :P Our Sabiks could totally have a playdate together. :XD:

    15. lol That sucks. ^_^ I'd love to meet you if you ever came back. ;_; I can't make it to many of the Louisiana Resin meets, they're usually in Baton Rouge or New Orleans and I don't have the decent health for travel anymore.

    16. I think im going to replace my MA boy head with either Leekeworld ROMEO or a Minimee Sting. My Mecha boy head is to small for his body (in my opinion) Mine has the Deneb head. The jaw line is to narrow and feminine for that long neck. Leekeworld Romeo has a 9-10 cranium/wig size and a wide manly chin/jaw line. Then i can re-paint the Deneb head back into a female and put it on aother body and have TWO mechas... YAY! [IMG] ps... I live in central Mississippi and would LOVE to meet up with someone near by so i dont have to drive all the way to New Orleans.[IMG] Here he has on his new wig.... YAY!

    17. Aww, that's no fun. :<

DeKaady, his head does look a bit small... His profile makes for a very interesting guy though- I think he'd be great male or female! :D

Oooh, I went to Mississippi once. I was on another New Orleans mission trip. It was near the end of the week and we drove over there to take a swim in the ocean- but even after walking out like a quarter mile into the water we could still stand!
Err, I live in North Texas... So the closest things we have to oceans around here are funky lakes and large swimming pools... xD It was pretty cool.

    18. LOL! XD Yeah, Louisiana doesn't really have any decent beaches except the one they call the Cajun Riviera and that's not even that good. Most of our coastline is marshes and estuaries.

    19. I have a leeke Mihael head and a mecha body, the resin match isn't great (but I have a WS head I think) but the proportions are good, although you might have to sand down the neck as the leeke head has a shallower socket and it looks a bit odd, certainly do-able though

    20. Haha, you could always take a swim with the alligators!
