It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Question: How did you come up with your doll's name?

Sep 29, 2013

    1. My latest girl didn't have a name for nearly a month. After completing her faceup and putting her back on her body, the name Wren just came to me. Honestly I wasn't even going to try to name her. Her faceup has a lot of browns, so the coloring somehow brought about the name I think.

    2. What I do is look around for dolls I like, then come up with characters and hope I can one day afford them XD Maylin's name came from the words "mei" and "lin" in Chinese, meaning beautiful jade since her skin is a little green, and she's absolutely beautiful. When the Dollzone Tulip sculpt was still being made, I wanted her in white skin and had the name Rosalba in mind (Latin for white rose) and wanted her as a fairy queen. The DC Mephisto I WILL have someday (I'm bound and determined!) is going to be Istalvic, which was a suggestion from a friend and I actually quite like it.

Basically, I look around for different baby names that sound fitting for whatever fantasy character I've come up with.

    3. I always design my characters and then give them names. For my latest doll I plan to make a curly white wool wig for her. So Rachel was the cutest and most fitting name I could think of.:chibi

    4. I get a lot of names from books or movies. when I hear an interesting name I like to write it down and save it for later dolly plans.

    5. I had a name in mind for my doll and I have one in mind for the only other one I want to eventually have. Both are just simple names, but they came to me in like a burst and I can't forget them even if I tried. If I even attempted to call them something else I would always hear the other name in the back of my head first, so I'll probably keep the names that came to me. n_n

    6. Different ways - Fawn arrived with her name and I loved it, so I kept it. Aura and Scaramouche came from songs (Aura from a song by a band called the Church, and Scaramouche from, of course, Queen.) Paisley came from the town in Scotland (she's Aura's sister, and they're Scottish.) Tempest and Zephyr for what they do - they're my storm and wind devas. Kira was from "The Dark Crystal." Daisy was suggested by a friend, who I think was actually thinking of the final scene in "2001," not Daisy Buchanan. Hawthorne is supposed to be a pixie from Missouri, so she was named for the state flower. I decided to stick with a flower theme for the pixies.

    7. They all told them to me. Literally in my mind their names just appear though Vi's name was harder to pin down than Nox's xD

    8. I looked up baby names, unique names, names in other languages. I looked at names of flowers, names of meanings...I've even used a random name generator that smushed weird names together. Haha.

    9. I hem and haw for forever and go with names that I like the sound of after repeating them over and over. I have the hardest time deciding, though XD

    10. Generally, I look a lot at the chosen doll's pictures and figure out a backstory. Acording to it, I chose a name with meaning, this helps to create their personality as well. :)

    11. I chose the name for the doll I'm intending to buy by simply going through a mental list of delicate-sounding names, due to the fact that she has a delicate sculpt. On that mental list were two names that my husband loves, Aurore and Charlotte. I tried to picture calling my future doll "Charlotte", but just couldn't imagine it sticking. I then tried "Aurore" and felt that I had something close to ideal. I changed Aurore to Aurora, and have since been intent on giving her that name. It's a lovely name that seems to fit with her beautiful, delicate sculpt.

    12. I don't think about names until they arrive - because a lot of the time, the dolls seems to be so different in the feel they give off compared to what you originally thought. Sometimes I have to try a calling them a few different names over a period of time to settle for the one that feels 'right'.:XD:

    13. My first doll was named after my friend who got me into the hobby. After that I just kind of went with whatever came to me.

    14. I actually don't know how I came up with my doll's name. It just came to me one day and it fit so perfectly. My little pastel Nova.

    15. I used to try and stick with animes I have loved. But after awhile it seems I just attach the same name to 4-5 dolls and it gets to feeling a bore. So now I just go with names that just seem to fit, regardless if they are anime, TV shows or just a name I like. It's been weird how some just pop in to head, while others like to frustrate me for days.

    16. All my dolls have a color´s name. Carmine for her eyes, and ambar for her wig color. This two things was given to me randomly for the doll house. I choose the name when I see my doll for the first time with the requirement that it belongs to a color

    17. For me, all of my current dollies and those on my wish-list have already got their names. I did have to moll over for quite some time to get each one right, but there is a very specific trend with my dolls. For my human dollies, they've all got older French names...and as for my faeries, they've all got older English names. I don't have a wish list for their pets and familiars cos I've still got about 30 or so more to go, but I'll imagine I'll have a think on that at some point. I guess since it's not nearly close to the horizon, I hadn't even begun to conjure up any.

    18. Moonglo, amazing you got already the name for all your dolls :O

    19. Aww, thank you, Vicky-Rivero!:D

    20. It took some time to come up with the first name.
For my unoa I wanted a Japanese name. I named her Mariko (ball, doll) XD.
I haven't come up with a name yet for my second doll though...
