@manabusama , yah? I did do her faceup, so I could add freckles I love freckles, so maybe I will do that I need her to look younger too, so maybe that will help! Thank you for the suggestion!

 

I have my Blina now but unfortunately, I still cannot find the right body...

 

I know how that is. My Blina is on an April Story body, but the neck just looks too long for me. Otherwise, it's OK The thin face and narrow shoulders kind of work.

OK, I just did a switcharoo. I put Blina on an Impldoll Model body, and I REALLY like it. This is a pink body, and it doesn't match, but because the Model body has nice broad shoulders, it gives off a nice proportion, even so it's more in line with older doll bodies in size and in sculpting (not bad sculpting, but no muscles, etc...) I think I have to order one for Blina! I didn't pose her very well

 

Oh wow, that's an amazing faceup! If I could have done my own faceups I'd go crazy with freckles and skin details on some of my dolls. I really love dolls that have a lot of details like that in their face, it really gives them a lot of character

@IngieBee Love your Blina's look I think I recognize that outfit, Alice's Collections right?

 

@manabusama yes, but it's not her body, LOL. It belongs to my Elfdoll Hazy, but I can't believe I like Blina's head on that body! It looks way better than it does on my April Story or Supiadoll ballerina body. Looks like I need to try switching heads around again, ROFL

I absolutely love the freckles and the details of the facial skin too. I don't think I can paint well, so I order faceup from other people. I like to take pictures more.

@IngieBee, I found several interesting options - on the Russian forum there is a large topic about selection body for Blina.
For example, MiracleDoll, Granado and Dollstown 17 new.

 

Miracledoll does seem like a nice choice. The only problem is that the painted dark Blina's faceup so dark that it looks weird on any body even if it's the same color unless I were to blush it. Frankly, I'm not careful enough to have a blushed doll, LOL. Also, I'm really cheap, and Impldolls are, IMO, nice posers. I think Blina would look awesome on a Miracledoll, the only thing is, I'm certain her faceup won't match anyway

And BTW, I'm also a lover of red hair and freckles, and think your Blina is awesome

 

I can't do any faceups either. It's a bit because of my chronic fatigue, and because I'm not that interested in painting doll faces myself. I too use to order faceups from other people. I rather have my dolls how I wish for them to look, than a crappy ugly faceup done by me

Does anyone have a July and a Rene? I'd love to see them compared. They seem so similar!

 

@Chikku , Rene is modeled after a famous impressionist painter's muse. I just can't remember his or her name. She has an old style look to her, I think, especially in the eyes. July ... I can't remember if July was modeled after anyone? I should have written this stuff down! LOL. I think you can find the information earlier in the thread

Anyway, I don't think they look that much alike, though I do think there are similarities, but they definitely have different eyes Also, Rene has an upturned nose whereas July has a straight nose. She also has more of a lower lip dimple and protruding chin (though very cute):

 

Unfortunately, I don't have a Rene but here is a profile shot with my computer showing Rene and the silhouette of my July: Her upper lip shape is also definitely different.

 

Thank you @IngieBee ! Super helpful. It’s true, they’re a little less similar than I thought. I currently have a Rene and I was wondering if July would be more of an open mouthed twin, but I think she’s definitely more sister like. Still, they’re both super pretty. I love both sculpts!

Yeah, he hasn’t had an order in a while. I guess COVID maybe? I hope we see new sculpts next order. Love what he’s coming out with.

 

I think he did do another head for Sabrina Dolls, which she sells on instagram. And since he is pretty comfortable, I think he just takes time off to enjoy life, especially with his new granddaughter. She is so adorable! He posts pictures on instagram and videos. He seems to have a lovely little family. So, yah, a true artist, we can only grab what we can when he offers, LOL I hope he and his family are safe and sound

 

I asked him if he would continue making BJDs and he said he would not. He seems to be focused in action figures latelly (his Marilyn Monroe was awesome, btw). He said his partner would make BJDs from now on, but I don't know who his partner is. Maybe that Sabrina Dolls you say? Do you have her instagram profile? I would love to stalk her

Edit 2: Seems he will continue making them and Sabrina will be the one selling them. I will ask him again. Probably miscommunication due to his lack of English.

 

Ugh, so he abandoned us again? I'm bummed

 

He seems to have it hard to promote and organize sales. He's better at just creating art, for what I see. I guess that as soon as Sabrina got in charge he was happy to leave it in her hands.

But I'm not sure if Sabrina Dolls is good at promoting either... I had no idea about who she was until I read your post (I don't log in instagram often ), and most of her posts are in Russian.

At least he continues sculpting for her, for what I see (I'm waiting for his reply about it)... so we will continue seeing his work. There's still hope!
