I wonder if a supia double jointed would work or the ballerina body

ahh found that picture and apparently supia will work also. I’ll have to research that more.

 

I haven't been happy with my Arganautica Ifit on any body I've tried. She has a wide face and it always looks too big on the body to me (since it's a realistic sculpt) So I decided to try Veronica on the supia ballerina body. What do you all think?

Disclaimer, her clothes aren't a great fit, I need to finish making slopers and start making my dolls some good clothing!

And head to shoulder ratio, do you think it works? I should have tried July on it, but her eyes are wonkey, LOL. I'll have to redo her faceup as I colored it to match a different body which I never did order.

I have Kira currently at Iple SID body, needed neck modding (and color matching - in process now) but proportionally work fine for me. If weather would be sunny maybe I put some photos later ...
Su head is bigger than Kira and Blina, dont now about heads from Sabrinas releases and Rene and July, but there is this smaller S-hook issue mentioned by ???IngieBee,

I have found the main issue with pretty much all heads (except maybe some of the really small -faced ones like Zaoll and the like) on the Ballerina body, is that the chest is too short and narrow to make it look proportional. The space between the collar bone and the boobs is very short which makes the heads look very long in contrast. The shoulder width works well with a lot of medium-small heads, however the length of the face vertically causes issues with that body. So while the head and shoulders work well width wise, the chest itself makes the head look big.

 

Question..... does the Rene sculpt have the same lip grooves as July? I’m having such a hard time deciding between them and I can’t afford both

 

OMG! That's RIGHT! I think I'll have to put Anna back on that body, as she looked the best I think??

 

I posted this before, but in case it helps you, I did some terrible pictures, LOL and put the two heads side by side. From what I can see as differences are:

Rene's nose is ski-jump (upturned) and July's is straight
Rene's chin is a wee bit more protruded/defined with a crease
Rene's eyes turn down (slight puppy-dog eyes like Paul McCartney), July's turn up (in general, nothing extreme about either)

And of course, open vs closed mouth, and July's open mouth is with inserted teeth which makes it infinitely easier to paint

Thank you so much this does help! Does Rene have the same indentation sculpted to the lips as July? I love the teeth insert. I have a dollshe Amanda and I love that about her but another reason I was leaning towards Rene was they might be too similar? I’m probably crazy haha

Had a bit of time today, so here is the pic of July's head on the Dollshe 16F body:



Not too bad, though I think as you say it could use some extra height on the neck to balance it out.

And I realized you asked about the iris size on the 12mm eyes. They are just standard size, not small. I don't know the exact mm measurement though, sorry.

I'm really glad that the hybrid works so well, since Wendy (the character I will be using this head for) is a ballerina and thus I wanted the Diana body for her since the Supia Ballerina Body wasn't working for me. One smol question!! Which size are those Dollmore pants she's wearing? Model? That was slightly off topic, sorry lol.
No prob about the mm eye size. It looks like the super startled ones earlier in the thread were 12/4.5 which are quite small, so 12/5-12/6 would probably be fine which is good.

They are the model size leggings, yes. ^__^
They are a bit long but fit really well. I have 3 pairs. Hehe.

 

Yess I have the red ones and the black ones are in a package in mail quarantine here, and a pair o the red ones for my Dollshe Fashion girls in the MSD size.
Now I just need my heads and body. . . we'll see which one gets here first. . . the body I've been waiting for for a year now. . . or the heads I just ordered. . . my guess is the heads.

 

I think July's lips are a little rounder at the cupid's bow than Rene, though I could see painting them more pointy working out? Rene's lower lip protrudes out a little bit, like Gena Davis, but not so extreme, but I hope that helps?? Sometimes I see similarities that others don't, LOL, so I don't know if the last comment is hurtful or helpful :P

 

Hm, it's a bit hard to see...but I think that Rene's lips are also smooth except for the crease in the center of the lower lip. Just judging from the way the light looks on the painted head. July has lip texture sculpted over the whole lips. And I was just noticing the other day how much the July head reminded me of Amanda! So not just you @Bambi Darling I had never really noticed before and then I saw your comment!

 

Yes, on July I can verify there is a texture, a smoth one, that is, it's not like a lot of lines, its more undulating, but a texture indeed that helps with shadows. I don't own Rene unfortunately, so i can't verify one way or another if her lips are smooth? Might be as she is supposed to represent a lady in paintings of the late 19th century. My Veronica only has one indent in the center of the lips though so it's entirely possible Rene is like that as well?

 

Yeah, just since I was thinking of July compared to Amanda, which you could order with smooth lips or with lip texture/wrinkles.

 

Who is Amanda? I need to see this doll @Lady Ravenswood
