The nice thing about faceups is that if you mess up you can just wipe them and start over! Just do it in as many layers as you need to so you don't have to wipe the entire thing if you mess up on say an eyebrow! I believe it you!

 

Yah, I read about her issue, sounds pretty silly to me. I love DoA and hope they can straighten it out?!

 

IngieBee, yes, my thinking. I adore her collection and admire all work and love she puts into every little detail.

 

Well, I'm following her on instagram now. Is she another talented European or worse still, Australian? So many wonderful faceup artists are overseas from me I'm just not going to send my preciouses so far away! LOL

Fanty is an amazing artist and an honest seller, I hope DoA will revert her status. She’s nothing but always supported artists!

As for face ups, I believe that I am very good (lol) but I’m not sure if I could match this particular one in skill and beauty! We shall see when my Rene arrives...

It will be very exiting to paint a blank head by Rainman. Which reminds me: I still have a sleeping Nabee/Ryung unpainted! Yay! Another project to work on...

Should I keep her as a closed-eyed lady or open the eyes?

 

Amazing! Congrats on her! I can’t have dolls painted by other people. No matter how gorgeous I will have to wipe and do myself, or they don’t feel like mine even though my skill is not the best. I’m weird lol. You mentioned you do faceups well...do you have an Instagram I could follow? I would love to see your work and also more pictures of that beautiful July when she comes!

 

I am the SAME way. I just can't bond unless I've painted them myself.

I'm with you all on doing my own faceups, but my problem is I'm a really really bad artist, and my faceups scream armature. Still, it's so much fun to do, and you can wipe it and try something else, if you're tired of it which is really nice

 

Ugh, so I just scrolled by Rainman's instagram, where he says order by January 31 after that, I will not make more (paraphrased) and my heart sinks. I just can't do it! No way! I'm so sad

@IngieBee I'm so sorry T__T. Hopefully one turns up on the second hand market. Also the inclusion of "this year" in the statement gives at least a little bit of hope that maybe next year she'll happen again.

As for face ups, my first ones were really bad as well... Many moons ago (God, nearly 20 years ago!!! I can’t believe what I’m writing!)

Oh dear, new doll posted on Instagram and she's really pretty. A similarly open mouth to July, but she has an Asian air about her. Very pretty and going to be hard to resist

 

Hello! I just want to share my Rainman July. I got her last year as a second hand. It was peak of lockdowns, it was shipped from Russia to my friend in Japan then finally to Philipines. It took 6 months of shipping transit before I got it!

The body I got for her is Impldol Star Female Body just arrived this week. I ordered the doll body directly to Impldoll because ACBJD said to me that Impldoll is not accepting custom resin match. So I had to asked them directly. Impldoll was very accommodating to my requests because I asked them to resin match it with my Rainman July tan skin. It took them roughly 3-4mos to ship out my order. I am not expecting too much about it because I didn't send out the head cap for colour reference. I just gave them the pantone color of what I could match it together with other photos.

When I got it the body and head didn't truly match. The body and head resin colour have the same Tone colour but in a different hue. I LOVE what impldoll resin colour made for the body I ordered. It didn't really bother me, but I have to make it work. So, I am currently working on July's face up and match it to the body. The colour isn't far so it's not that difficult to match it. The Rainman July Tan is in orange/red side almost like Iplehouse's Peach Gold (I own one) and the Impldoll custom resin colour body is in cooler brown. As for the neck size/hole, it's perfect! no big gaps and the head can move well. I just have to change the impldoll HUGE C-Shook to S-hook that fits the hook hole of Rainman July head. I will share the full body photo as soon as I am done with my July's face up.

I hope this information helps someone that need find a nice body for their lovely Rainman dolls.

 

That is exactly what I plan on doing with my July. I got mine in white, as I loved that first pale picture of her, and planned / still plan on getting her an Impldoll normal pink star body. But then I did a Faceup to match impldoll's darker version of real skin because I wanted to try her out on a body I already had. I have pastels that match really well, however I never didn't put her on my body because of those huge hooks and me being too lazy. I am paying off two big layaways, then afterwards I hope to get several Impldoll bodies for my floating heads. Including July and Veronica.

I knew it would look good, and your picture proves it, she looks perfect on her body!!! That makes me so excited! Your July's Faceup is so lovely, you did a beautiful job! Congratulations, your patience in these terrible postal times is bordering on sainthood, I'm glad it worked out! . Can't wait to see her with eyes, wig and clothes .

I don't know if you need this info, but just in case it is helpf, to restring her, the chord is connected in a loop. Then at the halfway point, it is folded and threaded through the neck where the hook holds it and lining it up so that the knot ends up in the body (or head, but that's a pain). Using a ribbon, you thread it through one loop and all the way through one side of the body and hook the first foot on, then repeat with the other side, keeping tension so the foot you just attached doesn't fall off. Now you might need help.while one person pulls on the ribbon until the chord is exposed, the other hooks on the foot, then pull the ribbon out and you're done! The arms are the same but easier

I was debating before what body should I get for her... I just settled with Impldoll coz it's near the proportion or measurement of Rainman female body.

When I received my Impldoll body it was super tightly strung. I hate that coz I had my finger injured by a s-hook when I was unstringing tightly doll. So I immediately cut the strings from the neck where the C hook is and strung her body with the right tension for my own preference coz I don't want to end up with bleeding hand from replacing a foot or worse damage my new doll.

I will definitely post her finished look!

 

So I am curious. I ordered a July head in the last pre order and I see they had the body for sale. It was just not in my budget to buy the body at the time and I'm hopeful that the next time it is available for purchase I'll be able to do so. May I ask why everyone is looking to hybridize the doll with different bodies? Is it because the Rainman body is rarely available, or maybe it is not preferable to a different company's body? I'm not good with hybridizing or modding (yes, I'm afraid I will ruin the doll), so having to mod a neck or the neck hole of the head is not in the cards for me. I am just curious and looking to make an informed decision on what body to look at for my July.
