Someone asked on Facebook yesterday, so here is a resin comparison for Rainman white resin with Dollshe Pure Pale and Fresh. Thought I would drop it here too.



Rainman white resin has a slight pink undertone that Dollshe does not

 

ElizabethStiles: somebody put normal R&R head at DollShe fresh body but for me it was not working WITHOUT body blushing and from all heads in "normal" color I have currently (OwlsMoor, Demiurge, SartoriaJ), R&R head from 2018 is pinkier (OwlsMoor Mary at "yellow" side). It is pinkier than DollsTown/DollShe oriental from 2020 so as Lady Ravenswood pictured, R&R white nad "normal" are both at pink side (more pinkier).
My DollShe fresh body from 2017 is yellowed little bit (it is between pure pale and pure fresh as Lady Ravenswood pictured.

Iple peach gold is complicated and maybe somebody with Iple body could suggest better color match. I bought body there at DoA market because of price so it was tricky.

But R&R tan is perfect with DollShe/DollsTown copper oriental.

 

@Lady Ravenswood , Yes, that was me! It is MUCH easier to see it on the larger pictures here than it is on Facebook, though, so thanks again!

@susana789 , Thanks so much for the details. I did try my July head on an Iplehouse normal, but the body was too yellow, though they were about the same lightness. But if R&R is generally pinker than most bodies anyway, than I guess I will just stick with my first choice and get an Iplehouse SID, mod the neck, and color-match the head. (I'd rather color match the body to the head, honestly, but IDK if that's doable.)

You guys have been super helpful. For peeps who ordered Blina in the new resin colors, keep us posted on color matches, please! Apparently they will be less pink, so they might match better with other companies now.

 

@ElizabethStiles I got a longhouse body for my Kira, I got the normal yellow and managed to blush the head to match. The yellow body seemed lighter to me as well, bit pastels worked really well. Ignore my lack of talent, but here she is:



You can see in these pictures the type of pastels I used

and the pastel that ended up doing the job is the bottom row 3rd from the left

But this is an older doll, which arrived at least a year ago (time flies!)

 

Okay!! Hi people! I browsed through the thread and got super confused... Im getting 2 modded July heads (they have elf ears!!!!) and I was wondering what my options were for the body. It was love at first sight for me! I cant wait to finish my layaway and get them >< Thank you for your help people!

 

OMG, girl, I was just trying to buy those same heads! You're probably saving me from myself, honestly. I already have 6 Rainman heads.

So, obviously there's the Rainman body, but those are only available during order periods, and now they've changed the resin colors, so new ones aren't going to match July. From what I understand, some sculpts have different neck well sizes, but July I'm pretty sure fits on the Dollshe 26F body at least. She DOES NOT fit on the Iplehouse SID or EID without shaving down the neck, but she will fit on the YID. In general, the old normal resin is super pink compared to other companies, so you'll have to almost certainly resin match regardless, except with the Impldoll Normal Pink, which is a really good match (the Star body fits). I'm personally hoping to get a DF-H female body in pink, which I think might match okay.

 

Leave some for others xD

Honestly its mostly the size of the neck and the proportions Im worried about! I plan on having her matched to whatever body Im gonna choose for her.

All the SD girls I have with some Rainman heads for reference.


From left to right: Rainman Imani old Normal (with those same modded elf ears), Sartoria J. Elf Lobelia Warm Ivory, Rainman July Sleeping, and Impldoll Sicily Star Normal Pink. In brighter light, not as good a resin match as I thought. The hue is close, but Rainman is darker than Impldoll. Also, excuse the BDSM look on Sicily. I use chart tape to plan out seam lines for sewing.


Rainman July Open Eye, Iplehouse Yui nSID 2015 Normal (not as good a match as it looks in this picture; it's much yellower than Rainman), Rainman Rene, Iplehouse Raffine EID Special Real.


You can see the head of Rainman July is close to Iplehouse SID Yui in size. The Rainman heads seem proportional to most SD bodies. Again, this picture makes it look like R&R normal is a match to Iplehouse normal, but in reality R&R is much pinker. I don't know why it photographed this way.

No problem! You basically just have to sand down circumference of the top of the neck until it fits. Iplehouse necks sort of flare out at the top. It's actually more realistic, but creates a bit of a problem for hybriding.

 

I can add the Supia 65cm body to the list of possible hybrids. Out of curiosity I swapped the heads of my girls, and it was a nice and proportional fit (aside from the color):

Working well on/with my Doll Family H 63cm body and Impldoll star or idol bodies, but note that the impldoll bodies need a smaller hook or you need to adjust the head's small slot. Colorwise, I just blush to match.

Which one of the supia color would be the closest?

@Smaug Thanks for posting the pictures, they're lovely. I like ho Rainman heads look on Supia body. I'm still curious about DF-H with largest bust, that would be better for my character but Supia body looks so delicate.

@ElizabethStiles Congrats on getting the Imani head! Do you know who made the elf ear mod on her? It looks as if she came with those ears. And I'd like pinty ones for my Rene and Eva.

@Nanael , There's "Anna LittleIce" written on her box in pencil. I found her on IG, and the original owner of the head follows her, so I'm pretty sure she's the one who does them. But there's very little on her IG, so I'll have to ask. But yeah, the ears are freaking flawless. If it weren't for the difference in color, you wouldn't even know it was a mod. I actually have a second one that was modded with the same ears and closed eyes.

But since @Shyld here doesn't want me owning every available Rainman head in the United States , I was thinking I might try to figure out a way to make my own removeable elf ears for Rainman dolls. But it's not a top priority project, and it will probably take a lot of practice before I get anywhere near as good.

@IngieBee , I'm wanting to get a DF-H 63 for some of my heads. Can you share pictures? And how is the resin match?

 

OK, @ElizabethStiles , I just took some more bad nighttime phone pictures, but I hope they will help. My July is in white resin blushed to match Impldoll's old real skin, but they don't have that color so I am going to redo her faceup in pale pink.

Thanks, @IngieBee . The headcap on your July makes it look like the R&R white was a pretty good match to the DF-H. What resin color is the DF-H body? And is it really that good a match? And is July's head really as large on the body as it looks in this picture? The Supia head looks more proportional.

Also, is there anyone with the R&R body who has had success hybriding it with heel feet from another company? I have a second-hand body on layaway right now, and she doesn't come with heel feet. (I wouldn't want the R&R ones anyway, TBH. The toe-less foot, one-shoe-option thing is... weird.)
