1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Raurencio Studio - 60cm Lady Discussion

May 31, 2010

    1. OMG - I just discovered Raurencio's Stella yesterday. I have to say, it's been a looooonng time since the first glimpse of a doll has made me gasp. Stella is so beautiful, she took my breath away. And all your photoshoots cinched it for me, PacificBlue. I'm in love.

Of course, I just pre-ordered DaisyDayes' Elise the Centaur earlier yesterday, so now I'll have to wait and save. She's on my wishlist, though, and I'm ordering her as soon as I have enough...

    2. Hi koryuu! Stella is quite lovely indeed. I'd be glad to answer any questions you may have about her. ^^ I also have a few different resin colors if you have any questions about matching. Raurencio offers layaway as well if you were thinking of getting Stella. 30% down and terms you can negotiate with them.

    3. Hi!

It's good to hear that they offer a flexible layaway plan. It means I'll be able to order her that much sooner, and it'll hurt less. I'll have to sit down and come up with a plan.

Since I like the head sculpt and the body, both, I probably won't be switching things around - but just out of curiousity - what color is her resin - really? In some pictures she looks creamy with yellowish overtones, while in others she's a bit more peachy.

My daughter has a white-skinned Luts Yder, and I have an Elfdoll Kathlen - also with creamy white skin, so I have a couple of pale dolls as comparison.

    4. Here's a long overdue picture of my Ray!

The wig is the one that came with her and I think I can do better!

    5. nancy_schroeder-ca: Congrats on your girl! Her face us very lovely!

Koryuu: The resin is a creamy white with the yellow overtones. The only white skinned guy I have to compare to is Dollshe's pale white which is paper white indeed in comparison.

    6. She's lovely! Is that a factory face-up?

      PacificBlue, thanks!

    7. So... I'm curious. I was immediately drawn to Stella because she has a more unique face than those I've seen on a lot of female dolls. However in some of the Raurencio Studio website photos (especially frontal ones, the 3rd and 5th photos) I noticed that her eyes look... Uneven. One looks slightly more open/bigger than the other one. So how does she look for people who actually have her? Is the sculpt slightly lopsided or was the faceup in the photos just a little off?

    8. Yes, that is the factory face-up Type A. It is beautifully done.

    9. I wouldn't be surprised if they are, I have two heads he sculpted for unidoll that have uneven eyes. But then again, I have over 30 dolls and the majority of them have some lack of symmetry in some way or another, at least half of them would be in eyes.
Human faces are asymmetrical so it doesn't really bother me. Also I've found if you position the eyes to look to the side with the larger eye being the direction the eyes are looking, it creates an illusion where the eyes don't look so uneven if you're photographing/looking at them from that angle.

Of course it's up to you if you decide if it's something that bothers you, but I think you'll find a lot of sculpts have this issue, some more obvious than others.

    10. Well, all this mooning over Stella might be an exercise in futility. I just went to the Raurencio site, and Stella is showing as 'sold out.'

    11. Hopefully they are just upgrading the body!

    12. All three of the 60cm girls are sold out, which I found a little odd. Maybe you're right.

    13. They posted this message on their news board:

I asked about Ray on their Q&A board as I was planning twins, but I don't expect an answer until Monday.

    14. Wow, nancy_schroeder_ca, I guess that answers the question.

It's a good thing I just struck a deal in the Marketplace for a Stella. She's on layaway, albeit much sooner than I had planned on coughing up the money for her.

      Now I'm doubly-glad that I did so.

    15. I already got an answer about Ray! I imagine Stella will be back also.

    16. Oh! That's awesome!

Well, I'm still glad I went ahead with my deal on the Marketplace. This has been like a whirlwind romance. I met Stella week ago, and I've already made a commitment.

    17. Does anybody own both the Raurencio girl and one of the Unidoll-Real girls? I have the UD and know how that body stands and poses, but would be very interested in a comparison of the two. Am not that thrilled with the UD and her disproportionately skinny legs and arms.

    18. Oh man, that gave me a fright when I read that she was sold out! I'm glad it isn't permanent and that they're improving the body too. I just decided a few days ago that she would fit a character who I was going to make up from a different head and body. Now I just need to save up the money ^^;

kawaii_mon: Seeing a few owner pictures I'm guessing (hoping) that it was just the one used for the website photos/the faceup on that one. As far as I can tell the owner ones don't seem as lopsided. I know human faces aren't symmetrical, and it makes sense that most doll faces would have at least a bit of asymmetry as they're crafted. Just if it's enough that I notice it upon a glance without looking closely then it's a little too obvious. Like I said though it seems to just be in the website photos. And thank you for the tip about positioning the eyes :) I'll keep it in mind!

    19. I'm sad they're changing the body, I really wanted the one they had up because it's so close to the Unireal body and I need it to match as close as possible. Had I known earlier I might have been able to put one on layaway. I hope the new body doesn't look too different.
