Raurencio Studio's Adonis

They opened a new site RSDOLL:

They have a new body close to SD17 size. They are planning to bring the Adonis sculpt down in size for the new body. It's a very small company, so when you see something you like don't assume that it will always be available. Their dolls and faceups are great!

 

Wasn't they meant to have brought out the Adonis head again a few months ago? I thought they said they were going to do it, but still haven't yet?

 

There's an unlocked message from Nov 16th that says he will be released this month as a full doll. But they have missed dates before!

Ah right. I'm still looking for a body for my Adonis head.
Nothing really seems to match AND look good proportion wise. It's either one or the other.

 

Whoa-- BynByn, I saw your boy on dA, I had no idea he was an Adonis behind that face-up! Can't wait to see how he turns out.

And yes, I think it's hard to find a body for that head. He needs a reasonably thick neck and broad shoulders, but with such a soft face, many such bodies look weird.

Yeah, the one body I've found that works proportion wise is the dragondoll 70cm body. There isn't really any 70cm bodies that aren't muscular. Oh well, at least you can just cover the muscular body with clothes.

 

I think I gave up on the idea of a hybrid and stuck with the company body precisely because it was so hard to find a body match for the Adonis head. With its 12cm neck and wide shoulders and chest, the Raurencio body would look beefy when paired with most other heads, but because of Adonis's larger head size and heart-shaped face, the overall impression ends up looking pretty youthful and normally proportioned.



With that said, I may also be biased just because I've gotten so used to how Yves looks, haha. Still, I'm curious to see how the resized Adonis sculpt looks on the new RSDoll body.

 

I would probably consider getting the company body if I could find one.
Is clothing an issue for the body? I'm not sure if I could deal with a body that had issues with clothes fitting it.

 

If you ask on the RS doll site they will sell you the old body.

Thank you, Sillypeach! I agree, the Adonis sculpt is one of those that just really captures my attention every time I see one.

BynByn93, I haven't had too many issues shopping for clothes for the Raurencio body, though there may be a bit of hit-or-miss involved depending on what specific style of clothes you want to dress him in. He fits into all of the SD17 or 70cm loose shirts and sweaters that I own; even this jacket, which is SD17-sized and has no stretch whatsoever, fits on him, albeit a bit tightly.



Pants are probably the tougher part, and if you are looking for the very long, slender legs that are more commonly seen on BJD bodies, the Raurencio body might not be for you since it has very athletic thighs that rival those of Iplehouse SID boys, haha. Thus, 70cm sized pants tend to be a safer bet, though they end up a bit too long, while 60cm pants are too short. Then again, the pants he's wearing in the pictures above are baggy 60cm pants, and they look fine when tucked into boots. Sorry these aren't the best shots; I'll fish around to see what other clothing fit examples I have around.

 

I'm really tearing my hair out with trying to find a body for my head. Does anyone have a list of companies that will match the Raurencio resin?
I have Dollshe Saint head in Freshskin (not sure which year he was made) and that matches decently to my Adonis head, but even so I can't find many matches to Dollshe Freshskin either. So I'm really lost with finding something that will decently match my Adonis.

 

What don't you like about the old Raurencio Studio body?

 

There's no chest joint, I can't deal with having another doll with no chest joint!
It was also mentioned that he has more 'athletic' thighs, I'd really prefer a body with slimmer thighs if possible.

 

Hmm ... possibly the Crobidoll B-line body? Admittedly another hard one to come by, since Crobidoll's B-line boys are typically limiteds -- but since Raurencio has released dolls in collaboration with Crobidoll before, their resin colors may be pretty close, and the measurements seem to indicate that neck size and such could work.

 

I think Buddydoll's 70 cm body looks awesome with the Adonis head, but since Buddydoll disappeared, their bodies are really hard to find (though they are usually not unreasonably priced when they show up in the MP).

I've also seen an Adonis put on Dollmore Model boy, and it was a beautiful, beautiful thing. The resin match looked decent too.

 

Raurencio Studio's original resin was very pale. I don't know if Crobi made any of the Adonis heads.
