1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Re. the seller of a Volks doll on eBay

Mar 19, 2023

    1. Hello, BJD people.
I'm a sort of long-time lurker who joined 7 years ago while my late wife ("KellyHime" here) was battling cancer. I've never posted before, but I thought I would do so in regards to a question that will probably come up for at least one or two of you.
This is regarding a doll that belonged to Kelly which I have posted on eBay. This is not to promote the listing for that doll (I'm sure that would run afoul of the rules here), but I know that there are many legitimate concerns when it comes to buying anything on eBay -- especially something in the many-hundreds-of-dollars range -- and I wanted to assure anyone who already might be considering buying the doll that it is legit, and is coming from someone who is trustworthy and at least connected to DOA. That is one of the reasons why I explicitly say in the eBay listing that I would prefer a buyer in the San Francisco area, and would encourage potential buyers to arrange to see the doll in person before considering buying it.
I'm not going to include a link to the listing (again, that's probably against the rules), but I just want to say that "sf-estate-treasures" is me, and that any potential buyer should be reassured that they're dealing with the owner of the doll, who is connected to the BJD community.
      Thank-you.

    2. Hello Robert - nice to see you here! I was fortunate enough to know Kelly, and I remember that particular doll (who I believe she named Kana) from the Volks Tea Party in LA Aug 2006. She is indeed the real deal, and it's really lovely to see her again -- you can tell she was well cared for, that K. Mayura faceup is in excellent shape. I was friends with another San Francisco-area Volks lover, particularly of this "family" of mold that Kana is part of, but alas, I have lost touch with her, and I don't know if she's active in BJD collecting anymore. Interestingly, this collector won a one-off of the same mold Kana is at the very same Aug 2006 event. (W, if you read this, hello! :aheartbea)

I still have the photos of Kana in her original one-off outfit if that's helpful to you. (It has the dreaded Photobucket watermark, but you can see Kana in her original glory still.) I recall Kana was displayed with another doll, and they had matching light lavender outfits. It was quite charming.

Hoping you are well, and wishing this lovely doll finds her way to another loving home, where she'll be treasured, as I'm sure Kelly did. She, and Kelly, are very special. Take care.
