1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Re-using clothes and objects from other things for your BJD

Feb 12, 2006

    1. I know someone posted her MSD sized girl wearing Circe's dress as a shirt (back when they first came out). It's what got me started on collecting LADs. I haven't actually tried any of their clothes since I like the dolls as they are.. LOL. So, I'm guessing more of their stuff would fit but it's really something you need to try (Circe's dress definitely fits). Not sure about the Living Dead Dolls.

    2. ooh wonder if i can track down the pic...

    3. Ooo, I just noticed this posted in the LittleFee thread:
So, I guess that means the Living Dead Doll stuff works too! :)

    4. ooh awesomeness! TY *all excited now lol*

    5. Most of the clothes from my Little Apple Dolls fit my Kid Delf.
The tights etc. were too short, and I had to undo the stitching in the sleeves (they were sewn shut), but apart from that, everything seemed to fit okay :3

    6. ROFL how sad is it I'm gonna save up for a doll...just to steal it's clothes for another doll? ; )

    7. I love taking MSD sized skirts and pinning them in back and making strapless dresses for my LittleFee tiny. If there are MSD skirts you don't like or want and have tinies...considering permanently taking them in to make the cutest dresses!!!
      Case in point....
A Friends 2B Made skirt that I got for my Soulkid girl...but my LTF looks ever so cute with it pinned up for this pic!!!

    8. The clothing made for the old Magic Attic line of dolls fits some SD girls, they fit my DZ 60cm girl perfect. I had the default yellow Megan outfit and denim Allison outfit, both fit perfectly though of course the sleeves appear 3/4 length, and Allison's jeans are capri length. Also have the Grecian outfit for Megan, it looks very cute though a few inches short. Things like tights and the ballet leotard one doll had won't of course, but if you see some on ebay, they are very well made with real pockets and tiny buttons and all, and still look pretty stylish on an adult figure.

Also, anyone with FD or similar size tinies, my Nekomimi wears Bratz boy clothing and Ken clothing very nicely, and the sandals from the Whats Her Face dolls also fit (They were blank dolls with eye and mouth stamps and washable markers, weird things)

My Littlefee Elf El "Kumiho" in sybils costume. every last part fits like a glove except the socks and shoes which are a little big, We tried on some other outfits and it all seems to fit like a charm!

    10. Something I've found while trying to find *something* for Esmeralda to wear at the moment...

When I was little, we had these dolls called "Quints", and the diapers actually fit PukiPuki's as reasonable panties, and the dress tops from the "Party Time" set fit around, but are so short they're more like blouses. The shoes don't fit...or at least, not well enough that I trusted trying to shove them onto my Puki's feet for fear I'd never get them back out.

Here's a picture of the Party Time set I'm talking of:

    11. A relative passed on their collection of Jenny dolls (produced by Takara, basically a Japanese version of Barbie) to me, with a bunch of clothes. I was surprised that some of the coats and jackets actually fit my 26cm tiny... ^^

Coat and scarf stolen from Jenny dolls.. xD

    12. I need to read this thread all the way :-)

    13. If this has already been discussed to death, please feel free to delete! But I just got home from a survey of the local thrift store and am so excited, I had to tell someone!

I found a mini sized Monopoly game, a paint set with a box, easel, paint and brush, and a stamp craft set with a bunch of tiny little rubber stamps in a collection of those keychain games. There was also a miniature fish aquarium and a tool kit! It was a red letter thrifting day!

I've found some nice furniture thrifting there in the past, but you never know if you'll find anything. I'm guessing there won't be any dolls (!), but I did find a "My Twinn" doll for $4 who sold on Ebay and put a nice little sum into the BJD doll fund!

Where do you find props? It's hard to locate the right size on Ebay - "miniature" tends to produce results for doll houses. Some things I can make at home, but not everything.

    14. My best hint is to ALWAYS keep your eyes open, wherever you go, because you NEVER know where you might find something nifty. I found my first Japanese food erasers at Books-A-Million, and I also got some really cute miniatures out of a prize machine at Winn-Dixie. The dollar/thrift store is always worth a butcher's, and don't forget flea markets and mall kiosks. Even the counter at Circle K can offer surprising goodies, like electric guitar lighters and sneaker keychains (yes!).

    15. Oh yes, the thrift shops are a great place to discover and possible find some items that would go great with your BJD - I bought a "Red Riding Hood" porcelein doll for $12.00 - I am going to take off her costume and I think it will fit my BJD perfectly - red cap and all. Looks like there are even better finds in the miniature section - next time I will check out the toys a bit better.

Carol Hensley: Is that where you find things like the mini Monopoly game? toy section?

    16. Going to garage sales and goodwill, you can find lots of great stuff !

    17. RacerGT - no, these were just on the "miscellaneous junk" shelves - still in their original packages. $.50 each! I'd found Boggle and Yatzee on line as key chains, but they were more pricey. I think the dolls are going to have to have a game night!

    18. A week or two ago I got "Kit's Night Table" from American Girl at the thrift store for $3! It's in great shape except missing one of the metal "feet". I'm going to see if AG will sell me another foot for it, then will probably use it as furniture for my dolls, though I could probably sell it and add a good amount to the doll fund. In the same trip I found a cute ladderback chair that just needs one of the arms replaced, so once I've fixed that I'll have another chair for the bigger guys.

I adore shopping thrift stores, I've got so many Puki and 1/6 clothes that way. Lots of Kelly dolls never get undressed, and end up at the thrift store in perfect condition! I try to make a thrift store run once a week or so. Sometimes I find nothing, sometimes I find tons of things!

And for those who need doll stands - I've NEVER seen a thrift store that didn't have at least one, and they're usually between 25 cents and $1.50, depending on whether they are the cheap metal ones or the nicer ones with wood.
