1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Re-using clothes and objects from other things for your BJD

Feb 12, 2006

    1. Sometimes you can go to the Dollar Tree or similar stores and buy tiny dolls that have the perfect size clothes for RealPukis. Amazon has Kelly doll clothes too,and I just bought some for my Soso.

    2. I think it's a perfect way to get things cheap for your doll and you shouldn't be ashamed of it. ^^

    3. I've actually done this a lot. Things like "oh, I love everything about her except her face" have crossed my mind and then I'd usually try to get like the wig, eyes, outfit, etc.

I don't really feel comfortable buying a doll just to do it though, but it crosses my mind a lot.

    4. I was hoping my ndoll petit coco (pukipuki size) would fit sylvanian family clothes, and she does - little spectacles too! Squeee!

    5. I totally did this with $2 Barbies from Value Village. I only bought them for their clothes, which fit my 1/6 Resinsoul doll. Kept the clothes and tossed the horrid Barbie (the Barbies really were in bad shape). My MSDs have a lot of accessories intended for 18" dolls. They don't have any porcelain doll clothing, but that's just because I haven't found a porcelain doll with their proportions (yet).

    6. I like to use my old clothes to make my dolls clothes. Since I've had him I haven't bought Avalon any clothes besides his shoes and his wig. I love getting the little fabric swatches from the dollar store I can usually make one or two shirts out of one. I've used pants I hate or can't wear anymore to make new pants or clothes for him or for my other dolls. I made a Japanese school uniform for one of my boy's, a cupcake dress for my tiny and dress pants for Avalon.

    7. I definitely do this, when I find something which looks like it'll fit one of my dolls I will grab it right away!! It's hard enough getting good quality things without being charged a whole bunch, might as well start trying to cut the costs.

    8. Yep I've done this! I used the bloomers from a porcelain doll for my girl to wear under her Lolita dress :) none of the other clothing or anything would fit though. :/

    9. Just this afternoon i ripped off some eyelashes to try on my girl xD one pair did fit, and i feel bad....though i would never rip them for their clothing, wig or eyes unless i have replacements for them (i do collect them as well....but more like charity work as in, saving them from the trashcan when i see porcelain dolls on a flea market). Also do i feel bad about ripping clothes off of collectable dollies that used to be my grandma's...i ripped their clothes off for my barbies back then...shouldn't have done that...but in my defence, i was 6 or 7 at that time.

    10. I do this ALL THE TIME! I take apart old dolls from thrift stores and scavenge what I can. Love doing it! What's even better is when their clothes fit my dolls! :D

    11. Haven't scavenged dolls yet, but I have taken some of my and my husband's old t-shirts and made doll-sized ones. Some things I look at and think 2 thoughts "Would the cats like it?" and "Can I use it for my BJDs?"

    12. I was recently handed two 10 gallon bags of childrens' clothes to sell...whatever couldn't be sold or donated was scavenged into my fabrics bin for my dolls. :P

      <3Jersey knits and jean fabrics<3

I do love checking out the thrift stores for clothes and props...but I never find anything for my yo's and my SD. :/ I tend to buy sewing/crafting things.

My gramma gave me an angel costume made for a real tiny dog...Fits my SD so well. xD It's being modded right now for added fabulous.

    13. Can't say I've done this in the past, but it sure does sound like a useful idea. Recycling from any source tends to be worthwhile, even though I have yet to apply the concept to dolls!
