1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Realistic vs. Stylized sculpts - How do you decide?

Aug 9, 2010

    1. It really depends on the sculpt I probably prefer them to be slightly stylized

    2. I have the same problem right now, one is realistic and the other fairly realistic but slightly stylized. Though I think since the latter choice is a hybrid, I'm going to pick the first for now and maybe get the hybrid later :T
Then the issue of "does this doll fit in?" comes up T____T
      Gah, doll indecision kills.

    3. I prefer more realistic dolls, but I'm sure there's at least one stylized doll that I'd be in love with.

    4. Why not both? I like both :) Depends on whether I like it or not.

    5. i've got both Realistic and stylized.. it just depends on if I like them..
And on the character the mold is for :)

    6. I almost always go for more stylized. I like the stronger, more exaggerated shapes, and I like that I can't just look at people and find the same shapes, and I like the contrast when stylized dolls are painted in a naturalistic way, so they look alive.

But there are some realistic dolls I love too... a beautiful sculpt can happen in any style. >3<

But it can be so hard to recognized what is stylization and what is just variation within realism, so I don't really know what I'd call stylized and what I'd call realistic unless it's pretty extreme and obvious.
