1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Representing your doll sexually?

Jul 27, 2011

    1. I totally get what you mean. There's a certain limit I can forgive as artistic but then there's a point where it just becomes sort of... gutter-ish. I mean, of course the excuse "It's their object, they can do whatever they wan't with it" comes up, but I mean, just because they can doesn't necessarily mean they should. I've seen a lot of well portrayed sexual themes and whilst I, being of a conservative mind, feel slightly uncomfortable, if it's not like just pure perverted crap, I can condone it.
But there is a limit. Like, you see a lot in anime and mangas where you can see up a girl's skirt if you're even an inch shorter than them. And I find that trashy. If you do that with your dolls to make them perverted like that, it's just... not right.

There are more subtle ways without blatant panty shots ㄱ.ㄱ But I will agree, that if it's in (not necessarily good taste) but in good sense, I have nothing against it.

(pardon my redundant wording, you can tell I'm not good at expressing thoughts in a coherent manner...)

    2. People can do what they want - but I think it's icky.....

    3. that's what i was referring to, it was poorly worded.

the other thing i was referring to is the perceived maturity of the doll in the picture, someone will disagree but most people will say "well, it's a little weird/makes me feel 'icky' if the doll appears to be a child" even if they're otherwise OK with sexy stuff.

    4. Found this thread really interesting - to me, dolls are nothing more than pretty plastic/porcelain/composite, so there is no question of anything being disrespectful to them. My main concern with taking 'sexy' photos would be the posability of the dolls. Lol.

Seriously though, it really doesn't bother me. There's nothing wrong with RL porn if everyone's consenting, and there's nothing wrong with the dolly equivalent. If it weren't for sex the race would die out, so it stands to reason people give a lot of thought to it.

    5. I am a new BJD owner..and I do not know if my opinion is as strong, but I do not like the idea, and I would not if it was one of my dolls. But for some people, sexuality and openness therein is empowering, it really depends on the character the doll represents, because for some it is a symbol of their true selves, or an opposite gender version. For me, my doll is teenaged, so it would not be a prospect I would want to engage in. Like a parent..I feel she should only be seen like that while undressing, to promptly be covered up.

    6. I probably would not photograph my dolls naked or in sexually explicit situations, but I have photographed them in underwear/lingerie and in intimate situations with each other (kissing, cuddling, touching, etc.) I have no problem with this type of photo, if it's done well.

    7. I usually don't mind sexual content, if it's a good taste photoshoot.

I saw pretty gorgeous photos of underwear dolls, with amazing lights and scenery, so tasteful! Sex images I also don't care, specially when you can see the love between the two dolls.

What I think that's too much and I don't like is a sexual photo of a kid doll with a grown up, or when it's not artistic and comes out only porn!

You don't have to do a explicit scene of sex to show a sexual relationship...you can take so many pretty photos suggesting it in a tastefull way...and that kind of photos I really like ^^

    8. I find sex scenes between dolls a little...embarrassing. I'd rather see the pictures leading up to it or afterwards.
I have absolutely no issue with nudity, though, with people or dolls. None at all- at least as long as it is not blatantly sexual. Especially with these dolls- they can be breath-takingly beautiful nude, and really gives you a chance to appreciate the skill of the artist who sculpted them.
