Resinsoul and Bobobie Mini Discussion Thread - Part 33

I've never heard of any octopus body.
I know they've done some mods like changing out joints or swapping ears or mouths or something.
I often wonder how they do it.

 

So I reached out directly to Resinsoul in hopes of maybe getting photos of their crazier stuff, and got the following reply:

' Hello,Usually, we can make some minor modifications for customers, but if the workload is heavy, we generally do not provide such services,You can tell us your thoughts, Thank you'

So unfortunately no sample photos of crazy stuff, but interesting to know that their availability for mods is dependent on how big their workload is. Which might be good to know why they might accept something at some times and not at others.

 

@Cryptid - I'm going to email them. "You can tell us your thoughts" sounds like an invitation to me...

The gentleman has returned from his face up! Going to try and take some nice outdoor pics tomorrow, weather permitting.

 

Does anyone know if the Tang and Sui heads are the same aside from the ears? Specifically if Sui has the same smile? I emailed Resinsoul about a custom Tang head with elf ears and they said Sui is the same face, but all the pictures I’ve seen look like it doesn’t have as much of a smile. Can’t tell if it’s just the way the faceups are done or if it’s a difference in the sculpt.

 

I only have Sui, and his mouth seems to have a little less of an upturn in the corner than the pictures of Tang. Also, I'm not so sure about the eyes... But that could be because my Sui is red skin, with yellow eyes, which is different from the Tang pictures on the site.

 

That’s what I’d noticed in the pictures I’ve seen, thanks for confirming for me! Now to decide if the ears or the smile are more important to me for the character I have planned…

 

so you've decided to believe faceupped pictures over the people who sculpted, and regularly handle, blank versions of both heads? smiles are easy to emphasize (or de-emphasize) with a good faceup. I'd trust what RS told me, but they're usually willing to send blank pictures of sculpts side by side if asked

 

If you have a dremel it might be possible to give him a slightly more upturned smile if you need. I haven't done that kind of mod yet but I might have to try that with my dollpamm girl since she's a little bit too neutral.

 

Hello there! I'm curious about that new fab torso used on centaur boys. Has anyone tried requesting a human body with this torso? I wish they just released a new human body that would have it!

 

I haven't (not much of a boy doll collector), but I hope someone will. It's not just the torso that I thought was amazing - I was also astonished by how beautifully the arms and hands were sculpted.

 

Absolutely! That's what I meant by torso - the whole upper part lol.
What I found out is that it's basically a small version of their SD boy body. So I'm hoping that they'll release the entire thing one day.

 

Ooh, that's interesting that it's a 1/4 scale version of the Cen body! I'd be interested to see if anyone gets that torso with a fully human body too. It'd be great for a character I want to shell

 

I'm totally down to getting one as well - I just don't want to do it through the custom order because it will be...well, pricey, I can imagine, if they have to sculpt the whole bottom part on request. But I wonder if they might just release a new body if they get enough inquiries from us?...
Also, honestly, their MSD human male line does need a renewal, both mechanically and aesthetically, and casting this new body would be a logical step imho.

 

Well, I did pretty much that with Dream Valley. I bought the mermaid, and I loved her lower torso, so I sent emails to Dream Valley and several DV dealers begging for a human version.

DV released the B4-19 body, and my wish was granted. (It is a gorgeous body.)

So, yeah - if you like it, maybe just send an email asking them if they plan to make a human version? Couldn't hurt. Worst thing to happen is they say no.

 

I think they often do things like that and from what i've heard, the customization fee isn't too steep. But I haven't ordered from them yet to say for sure. They might be able to use one of the existing boy bodies to act as the lower hips and legs.
at least, that's what I've been hoping they could do with Dawn at some point, since I like her torso too xD I've seen other custom bodies they've worked on before that seem like more work, so it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility i'd think

 

On a different topic: has anyone had experience in ordering a body in marble resin? (Combining two resin colours, photo as an example, I'm not the author of the photo).
If they accepted this custom request, how much extra did you pay?

UPD. Just heard back from Resinsoul. Unfortunately, they are not able to make dolls in marble resin at the moment. But it's fine, they still have tons of options available.
I've also inquired about the new male body - let's see what they say!
