Thanks, it's always good to know the resin colours, especially if we see a colour we really like.

I agree, I love seeing all the dolls and how people dress them. Everyone has a different idea of how a doll should look. So keep them coming!!

She's pretty. Do you find it's like getting another doll when you provide them with new name and costuming?

 

My Mei arrived today beautifully packaged and I love the sky blue resin, she's really quite gorgeous. I am a little bit concerned about the wrists though, the hooks that hold her hands on seem to be quite large compared to other dolls I have. Is this a common thing with this doll?

 

It could be that Resinsoul is just using one standard s-hook size for all dolls. Swapping them out is easy and affordable enough, if you want smaller ones, though.
More affordable BJDs need a little help sometimes (upgrades to elastic and s-hooks, e.g.), but I find it's worth the savings.

 

Just popping in to ask, does anyone have the head circumference for RS Tang? I'm looking into hybriding a DollZone Jake head onto that body (the 45cm boy one) but I worry he'll look a bit bobbleheaded, and given that the neck circumference is already a bit diffferent (only 2mm though, apparently), I figured it's worth checking before I take the plunge.

 

Showing off Sena's new Mei head, along with what I picked up at BJDC Texas. These are by Magical Magpie; I regretted not picking up a tankard last year, so I'm glad she had them again this year. I hadn't planned to get a flower crown, but I loved them when I saw them, especially the little resin mushroom details.

Now I just need to figure out what kind of fabric to use for a proper priestess dress.

 

Mei is a lovely sculpt, and Sena looks gorgeous! I love her whole look, I'd be interested to see more of her. Her outfit is very pretty as well- did you make it?

Honestly wishing I had room in my collection for a Mei, but unfortunately I've had to prioritize other projects. Maybe someday...

(I have a friend who has a lovely Mei I gifted to her years ago, I should see if she has time to take more photos, unfortunately said friend has been dealing with a lot of stuff lately that doesn't seem to allow for doll stuff, which is understandable since I'm kind of in the same boat at least re: being too busy to take new photos )

 

Gosh, she's pretty! I love how her colors all go together so well, she looks so sweet. The flower crown is so cute too, I love the mushrooms.

I've been told that "everyone likes Mei" (derogatory) and I do not care. I love Mei unabashedly. She's such a versatile, beautiful sculpt. And @Cryptid - your styling is positively divine.

 

I did! It was for one of the monthly sewing challenges. I need to make her an alternate; I have the fabric, it's just a matter of setting aside the time.

I think she's popular for a reason. Not only is the sculpt really nice, as I've discovered, small elf ears like hers are way easier to work with when it comes to wigs.

 

Speaking of Mei...
My friend was looking to get rid of a Mei head because she found a better head for the caracter she is making. So for fun we tried it on a male Doll Family-H body I had lying around and it worked surprisingly well. I offered to buy the head but was gifted it instead!

So now I have a completely unplanned Mei boy.



He needs a name, a personality, a light neck socket mod and a new face up and some body blushing. But I think he has potential. Oh, and new eyes... This boy needs large but shallow eyes. Does any of you guys know of good options? I'm looking for somewhat natural, human looking eyes. Preferably glass.

I stuggled for hours last night to wipe the old face up. I am going to have to ask what she used to seal that head because I've never had anything like it on my work table. There is still some residue in the mouth and in a few other spots, so I will have to have another session with it tonight.
And not only is it dificult to dissolve, it has also yellowed quite a bit. So the head is not nearly as close a match to the body as it seemed. Not a big deal, I'll compensate for that in the face up, but still. I thought this was going to be quick little project... Yeah...

 

Please excuse the double post, but he has a face up!

A bit plain, perhaps, but it will do until I know who he is.

 

@Lillith - Mei makes a very handsome boy. I love how you finished him! and what a great hybrid with the DF-H body!
Now I'm kicking myself for not thinking of that earlier. I've been looking for bigger girl bodies. Didn't even occur to me to try a boy body.

 

@MaleficentMrsofEvil Thank you! I'm having fun trying to figure him out. Normally a new doll only comes after a long time of thinking, planning and, of course, waiting. So having a new doll, almost by accident, is quite a new experience.

I don't think I normally would have thought about trying a head like this on a boy body either. It's a very sweet face and makes a very pretty girl. It was just a simple case of me having a left over body and my friend having a left over head. The rest was just the natural thing to do.
And the moment I put the head on the body, it effortlessly turned into a boy. It only shows just how versatile this sculpt is. I am very happy about the whole thing!

Oh, and I think his name may be Mark. It's not set in stone yet, but it's growing on me.

 

He looks so cute!

I haven't started on her face-up yet as the weather has been so cold, but I have been playing around with photography backdrops...can you guess where I'm headed with her profile?
