1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Respect for Dolls

May 1, 2012

    1. Yes! So true. :) I haven't had the courage to really take any of mine out in public, but when explaining to family/etc, I talk about all the other things. One of my big schticks now is that they're (part of) my personal art collection (posable sculptures, not dolls! xD bahahaa). I mean, I'll admit, on a level the anatomically-correct thing is cool--I LOVE that it's not molded-into undies like Barbie. But I don't want that to be people's focus. Something that was especially disappointing was hearing that, the day I let my partner take one of my girls to campus with him, one of his professors raced up and spurted, "Let me see her pussy!"

VictoriaVictrix: Actually, his professor was on board with it, too. :doh In all of his classes, he's worked with concepts that center around the sexual and pornographic, so rather than seeing the "less is more" side of things, all his peers immediately jumped to "PUSH IT AS FAR AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN." And you know what? I'm an artist. I get the "for art!" thing. But raunchy just for the sake of raunchiness? To me, shock-work isn't art. Any bozo can go around screaming obscenities and shoving uncomfortable pictures in people's faces. There's no poise or finesse in that, and I don't want my dolls to be a part of something like that. (Super props again to my partner for having enough care/respect for me and my dolls to put his foot down and say "I'll suffer the worse grade for it."--props to him as an artist AND a person.)

    2. To me, it all boils down to respecting the owner. If the owner of the object, be it a doll or a phone, does not wish the object to be handled a certain way, then whoever is borrowing/using it should respect the owner's wishes.

Dolls don't have any rights, like a living being would, so they cannot be respected or disrespected. Putting a doll in a crude sexual position doesn't disrespect the doll, but it sure does disrespect the owner of said doll, if she/he doesn't want her dolls used in that way.

    3. I think the dolls should be respected themselves because they are art. And as everyone has said they should be respected because they are a reflection of their owner. I would be so upset if someone treated my dolls in a rude manner cause they are representations of parts of me.

    4. Have any of you ever dealt with something like this?
yes, but not with dolls (other inanimate objects).

How did (or would) you feel about it?
not pleasant, I understand that other people don't things in my perspective and that's fine, it's their opinion but they also need to understand that I have my opinion.

Do you think dolls merit our respect (for one reason or another)?
yes, I think that we should respect everything living or not the same way we respect human beings.
