1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Rosette 47cm discussion Part 6

Apr 17, 2014

    1. I couldn't help but notice that they left Rosettes off the survey entirely (along with Neo Angel-Region.) What's up with that, Soom? :|

I made sure to mention them a lot in the write-in portion. Even though I don't collect anymore, I want to see those girls do well! I also pointed out some of the design flaws they had with their joint mechanics, and pointed to a couple of other companies that have sophisticated joint designs while maintaining a lovely aesthetic (Fairyland mainly.)

Hopefully enough people will think to mention our lovely girls to remind Soom that they exist! :P

    2. I did this earlier today! I want a Vela super badly, so I mentioned that they should expand the Rosette line. Everyone should go do this!

    3. OOoh this is my time to express my interest in a Rosette boy. I'd love a long lean boy in their aesthetic :D

    4. Nothing has come of it yet, but they mentioned several months ago, summer I think, that they were working on Rosette boys. It was in an interview, but I'm not remembering where at the moment.

    5. Yeah, I read it, it's what planted the seed in my mind! I hope something comes of it one day!

    6. Me too!! And if they did an elf eared boy, i'd be over the moon!

    7. Ooooh that sounds lovely! I love Soom's boy facial sculpts in their larger sizes. If Rosette boys looked some what like them I'd be so happy.

    8. I mentioned boys too! And more clothing!

I noticed that the Rosette site has been reorganized (probably super old news). But now they are in categories like Antique for the school girls, Steam Age for all the steam punk Rosettes and, Fairy tale? or something for the fantasy sets. Which seems like a good move.

    9. And the site has been updated and all the bugs fixed HALLELUJAH! Now I can finally see ALL of the student profiles!

    10. Okay but does anyone see the dropdown menu on the classroom tab that displays all of the sculpts?? There's a boy option! Male Rosettes may come sooner than we thought!~

    11. Say whaaaaaaaat!? How very scandalous. Oh my gosh I wonder what their story would be. Maybe it will be a rival boys school after all xD

    12. OMG! OMG!! OMG! I have to go see the boy option for myself! I hope they add some new boy sculpts too! Not that I would say no to a boy Fir...

    13. i'm about to explode!!!! aaaaaaaaaah :celebrate:cheer

    14. As soon as I read this, I went to check! So exciting. I hope we will see some Rosette boys SOON!

    15. Oh my gawd :D
      YES :D

    16. I'm dying waiting to hear something :...( I got so excited by there being a post on here, in case it was some news hehe

    17. STILL NOTHING! *sob* I follow Rosette on Twitter too and there has been zero news since the last LE doll.

    18. Snapped some photos today of Emily and her best friend Yuanjing. I made Yuanjing's dress over the weekend after copious amounts of historical research into late Qing dynasty fashion, and now that they both finally look like they belong to the year 1894, it was high time to capture them together!

Oh my gosh, what beauties! You really capture the essence of the time period well, and Emily's dress is divine. I think it's really great how you put a lot of time into researching historical accuracy as well~

    20. Thank you so much! I find that I have to try extra hard when it comes to Yuanjing simply because I don't want to be seen as appropriating anybody's culture for aesthetic purposes. I try to remain true to the symbolism behind certain colours and materials. For example, normally a poor girl like Emily would not have been able to wear the colour purple before the 1870s because purple was an extremely costly and time consuming colour to make (because of the use of natural dyes). However, when the aniline dyes were introduced in the mid to late nineteenth century, synthetic purples became hugely popular amongst the middle classes to the point where the aristocracy did not even want to wear purple anymore because they would look like one of the lower classes who had just jumped on the trend of using a colour previously only worn by noblemen and royals.
Likewise, though I would have loved to have had Yuanjing decked in gold and yellows, it would be extremely disrespectful, as it was a colour only emperors and their court could wear.
This hobby has given me such a great opportunity to put my education in British history to practical use and has inspired me to learn the histories of countries I had not encountered before!
