1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Russian doll artists

    1. Etsy doesn't want to be left holding the bag if Russia based transactions fail due to lack of secure payment methods and unreliable postal methods.

    2. @amandabuns I’m sure that’s right. But it’s a heavy penalty for some of the individual artists and sellers. I suppose that Etsy is reluctant to bust sanctions as well.

    3. Yea going against sanctions definitely opens them up to legal trouble, and Etsy is absolutely out to do what's best for Etsy (which is why so many people are leaving/striking).

    4. It certainly puts me off Etsy, along with some of their other policies. I am looking around for other marketplaces but that’s a separate topic.

    5. Etsy also didn't really have a choice as none of the payment methods they provide, such as PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa and Mastercard, work in Russia anymore ...

And being a multinational American company, they might have recieved pressure from the government to suspend their business dealings with Russia. (I work for a multinational UK company and they have been advised to do the same.)

    6. I feel really bad about the whole situation of course, even though I'm married into a Ukrainian family and even bought my wedding dress there in January this year.

There are so many knitting, crochet, and BJD clothing artists that I love in both Russia and Ukraine. Like 30 listings from my etsy wishlist just disappeared. It made me really sad.

I went through with a payment for tiny knitting needles (to make doll clothes) from a Ukrainian seller even though she told me she might not be able to ship them any time soon because of the situation she's in. I told her I wanted to pay for them anyways since I already planned to and 15 USD is nothing compared to what even my own family in Ukraine lost in this situation.

Hopefully, things will be more open by the time I visit Ukraine this winter. I'm looking forward to supporting Russian artists more online as well.
