1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Sad Doll Faces

Dec 19, 2021

    1. I'm a severely depressed person, which colors my creative expression, ergo most (if not all) of my dolls look sad and hurt, much like how every character I write is. Women with melancholy eyes are also a weakness of mine, which probably doesn't help.

    2. I fell in love with my first doll, Fawn (Dollstown Seola) because of her melancholy expression. I was accustomed to fashion dolls with cheerful (sometimes manically so) expressions and I'd never seen a doll quite like her. I love how she can look anything from mournful to thoughtful depending on the camera angle.

    3. Personally I like more neutral sad expressions. I was talking about how I want any male dolls to look tortured/melancholic/wistful and my female dolls to look assertive/aggressive. I am not a fan of the sculpted snarling or grimaces though. Just the hint and a faceup to express up.

I think the Cryan Ringdoll I ordered will be the happiest looking one ^_^.

    4. I see most BJDs as somewhat sad or at least neutral looking. I would prefer to have some more content and happy looking faces such as Iplehouse Claude.

    5. I'm happy to day there are a lot more smiley scupts now (several of the Ninodoll sculpts are smilers, for example, and then there's this gorgeous boy 인형 - 래오 Laeoh )

A lot of BJDs whith neutral sclupts aren't helped by being painted with very expresive eyebrow shaping so they either look angry with the brows angled down toward the nose, or worried with the brows angled up in the middle. I've got a number of neutrl sculpt dolls who have been paintd with less expressive brows and with emphasis to making them look as smiley/happy as possible.

    6. My Dollzone Vita is always sad. I don't mind her face because it's a resting sad face. She looks very thoughtful and sad all the time, but she doesn't look as if she is crying. I like some expression, but not overly expressive features.

    7. Most of my dolls are neutral except one. 5 Star Doll Edmund has a sad face. I got him blank, and did not realize how forlorn he looked until I commissioned his faceup. It was only when I saw him painted that I realized his mouth turns down quite a bit.

(ignore the bad body match and long skinny neck. I'm waiting for his real body)

    8. I often like the sad/shy/worried expressions you can do with faceups, because it makes me want love, protect, and care for the sad lil bb. It brings out my mothering instincts or something lmao
