1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Sculpts you love vs. matching dolls?

Jan 13, 2009

    1. I was never one for matching. My clothes rarely match, my drawings aren't part of a series; so, why would my dolls be matching? I love any sculpt that strikes me. My first question whenever I see a new doll is
"What makes this sculpt different and how can I use that". If I can't think of an answer, then I probably won't consider the sculpt. It doesn't matter if it does or doesn't match any other doll that I may or may not have.

    2. I don't want my dolls to match. They are meant to portray a group of people from all over the world, from different backgrounds and races. All that matters to me is that their proportions are "right." Like one of the characters is kinda short, so I want her doll to be short in relation to the others. Aside from that, I go only for the dolls that catch my eye and that suit the characters I have in mind very well.

    3. Matching doesn't have to mean all the dolls look the same or are styled the same. Matching could simply mean that they all share a similar aesthetic, which can still portray a wide variety of people. I very much strive for all my dolls to match, I like them all to look like a cohesive group that can exist in the same world. But I certainly don't think they all the look the same. I have no repeated hair colors, a variety of eye colors, super classy and sleek clothing styles to wild and bright clothing, fantasy parts, entirely humans, and a few different resin tones. The characters they are meant to represent are very diverse, but the dolls themselves still match one another in their basic, sculpted stylization.

    4. I prefer to buy dolls that I love over buying ones that make sense together. My collection is a motley crew and has been since I started the hobby. However, they sort of "vibe" in my mind, so they have a unity for me even if they don't outwardly match.
