1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Second doll dip?

Feb 27, 2013

    1. I've sold my first 2 dolls (yo-sd and tiny).. Partly because I couldn't get attached to the size and found my options limited for the characters I wanted for them. I've always preferred the MSD+ crowd but was hesitant to get one because of the size. (I thought MSDs would be huge since I received a pair of their shoes prior to actually owning the doll :sweat But they are a much more manageable size and so far I enjoy it.)

I currently own two MSDs (my 3rd and 4th) and I'm definitely more attached to them than the two smaller dolls.

    2. I supposed I have experience that a bit, not feeling as attached to my second doll. He's a Resinsoul Pixiu that I bought on a whim; I didn't have a character in mind for him. He sort of sticks out in my collection; he's the only one with blue skin. But I am just as attached to my third doll as I am to my first; they're my babies. :aheartbea
So I guess it's not the order I bought them in, I'm just not as attracted to oddly-colored fantasy dolls as I thought I'd be.

    3. I've 11 BJD's now but since each time one came into my life it was because I was just gobsmacked, and went into a serious case of the 'must haves', it doesn't get old.
Whichever one I am holding is the current favorite.

    4. My first will always always hold a special place in my heart, but it's not the one I bonded with. My fifth was the one I played with more than any of the other dolls, and she's pretty special to me too. My eighth is the one I actually bonded to. When I opened that box and pulled him out, I finally understood what everyone was talking about when they said bonding.

Nonetheless, I actually sold all of them. So, no doll is immune to my plans I guess. I will get the doll I fell in love with again, but in a different color.

    5. I don't know if I can really answer this question, seeing as I only have two dolls and purchased the second not even a month ago.

But, I love them both and cannot see myself selling them. Ever. I photograph them, cuddle with them, and take them a lot of different places.

There are significant differences between home I came to own them (the first- I worked and worked and worked and then bought him one summer, and the second- I got from a friend secondhand with birthday money). But I suppose that makes them each very special.

However, some where down the road, if I acquire more dolls and those dolls don't get loved, I could see myself selling them because I'd feel horrible about the fact that they weren't being enjoyed and I'd sell them in the hopes that someone else could love them more than I could.

But these two? They're staying with me, even if I leave the hobby. The order that I purchased them in didn't really matter.

    6. I've sold a few but if push came to shove and I HAD to sell, there are a few who'd never go out the door. Some can easily be replaced and some can not, but I'd keep a handful or two.

    7. I actually had quite a bit of trouble bonding with my first resin BJD, which was my Angel of Dream Chi. I did not realize from the company photos that he had fangs, and didn't figure out until after I got him that I don't actually like really pale white skintones... I did eventually bond with him, but it took a long time.

The one who came next was a secondhand Dollzone Fei (or more like eleventh-hand, considering how many owners he had before me), and I loved him right out of the box despite how yellowed and loosely strung he was.

If I ever needed to sell one of them for some reason, the AOD Chi would be the one going. (Although honestly, I would not want to have to sell either of them.)

    8. What order my dolls arrive in doesn't influence how much I bond with them or which ones I keep. I have three dolls that I would never want to sell unless it was an emergency. The others I care about a lot, but they are more easily replaced.

    9. I am actually the opposite; My first doll I ever gotten, I couldn't bond with her at all. Nothing I did made me bond with her, so I ended up selling her, and getting a second doll, which I absolutely adore and I could never see myself parting from ever! :aheartbea
My first doll was a gift, and my second I saved up for, so I feel a lot more accomplished with her.
