1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. Since I see where I fit a combination of the choices I will put it like this...

I like to buy brand new factory full set faced up and clothed dolls.
I like to purchase rehomed dolls with custom face ups, clothing and mods.
I like to purchase blank heads, random bodies, spare hands and feet to customize myself.
And I want all the ones that are not blank to be prisine and kept that way.

      Good topic. :)

    2. Exactly; it's not the worrying about ruining a doll's face-up that keeps it pristine, just the fact that they're handled with care. I wish most could understand that. My first BJD's default face-up is still in mint condition, and he's constantly out and about. ;)

    3. Everyone has their preference. For me, it varies with the doll! Sometimes I buy dolls and keep them like that. Sometimes I'll do slight mods. Sometimes I'll get a second-hand OOAK. Sometimes I'll get a second-hand and mod 'em! So I don't even think I HAVE a preference! *_*

    4. Uhhh I do both. Second hand and first hand, I mean. I just have a firm list of dolls I want. If I see one in good condition on the MP, and it is exactly how I want it, I will buy it if I can save at least a little money. Otherwise I just order a new doll, usually blank because I want to either do the facup myself or get it painted by someone who I know will understand what I'm going for.

Mods don't usually attract me, because it is unlikely that person had the exact same idea for the exact same sculpt as me. But I will happily buy used and then do what I want to it.

    5. I'd say, priority one: get second hand, look if the actual personality of the doll fits you and customize it otherwise if it doesn't.
Second: buy new, but, for it's sake, I'd cusomize him/her (with my girlfriend's help) and find him/her a personnality. I couldn't keep a doll pristine.

    6. It depends on how this OOAK looks and if it suits my needs.

Most likely however, I will buy new, or unmodded second hand and fiddle with them as I see fit. It doesn't matter to me if the doll is "unoriginal" when bought. It's up to the collector to make their doll "original" if that is what they are after. That is the fun of this hobby to me.

    7. For the most part, I'll likely buy new and either have the default face-up or buy new and have someone else do the face-up for me. I hope to eventually get a practice head and learn to do my own face-ups, but that will come in due time.

If I see one that is OOAK and is something I really love, I wouldn't have an issue with buying it. Most OOAKs don't appeal to me, but occasionally one does and I might spring for that one if I become attached to it.

    8. So far I've only bought/plan to buy new dolls, but that's only because the ones I want I haven't seen for sale second hand. However, new or second hand,I'd prefer an unmodded doll if I was getting it for a certain character and specific things needed to be done-in which case I'd mod it myself. If I happened to see a modded doll on the market place that I really liked I wouldn't have a problem buying it. As far as face-ups go though, unless it was super spectacular that I couldn't live without I'd rather get a doll blank, and I certainly wouldn't pay a marked up price because of it.

I'm an adapter though,so even if a modded doll didn't completely fit my character needs I could probably work with it/build upon it. I'd still prefer unmodded though. xD

    9. i will choose "Other": buying second hand unmodified doll
sometime new is kinda expensive and it's new, i need sometime to find out if i really like this mold or not and the ability of the doll to be molded or not, so most of my dolls are second-hand
since i want to do the modification by myself, i only choose unmodified doll

    10. I wouldn't buy a doll and keep it exactly how it was unless that was how I pictured the character, I wouldn't necessarily do proper mods myself, I might send it off, but they'd be done to my specifications.
