Okay, put me down as another who succumbed to glamp-fluenza! And thanks to icicle for spreading it around! I asked my DH to check for it when he went out yesterday, because I knew he might go by one of the Targets in the area. He came home with one and I think it can work well with some of my other small dolls, too, and not just the Persons. For some reason, I have this burning desire to make a striped awning for the window, like I've seen on some of the real ones. Not sure how to do that, though. I actually have a small diecast silver Airstream that I've had for about ten years now, but it's a 1:18 scale, so too small for dolls, unless they're super tiny, like my Fortune Frogs at 2 inches.

Cattwo, this picture is great! I love all of the details! And a striped awning for your camper --- genius!

I was happy to find the camper just now at my Target, and got a few of the mini dolls for their outfits. The tops fit really well!

 

Aw I want a caravan too! I wish we had Target here. Everyone's photos are so cute!

edit: I just looked on eBay and there is a camper on there at $82! I'm guessing that they don't cost that in the store.

 

Thank you, happibug! And congrats on your new camper, too! I'm looking forward to seeing your Persons in their new clothes, since I didn't pick up my camper myself, I missed out on seeing everything that's available in this cute line.

I really hope a store picks up this line to sell in the UK, too, smudge! Or the maker sells them online and will ship them. They're big, but they're not that heavy. The retail price on the camper is $34.99. Of course, they'll always ask way more for it on eBay.

The striped ruffle dress & pink striped Tee & corduroy skirt are both from the Lori line, too (I just took the skirt in a little).

 

Wow!! Soon we'll have enough campers to open our own little Person Park! I'm glad they're catching on -- the Lori line has lots for Persons to commandeer. And yeah, like kcoconuts said -- after bjd sticker shock, it all seems so reasonable, lol!

Cattwo -- I've been working on my glamper. It's easy to customize and an awning is on my list too. And curtains. Here's what I did with a sheet of scrapbook paper (59 cents at Hobby Lobby):

I took down the top bunk since it's a home for Edie, not a traveling camper but as happibug has it, it looks like there's room for more than one big head in there.
Gosh, I can't wait to see what everyone else does with them ...

 

That's so cool! Love seeing all the glampers! Yes, I balked at that $80 price on ebay as well, that's why I was going to wait until our local Target listed it online as in stock. Thankfully, I was convinced otherwise on here, and went to look in person and found it!

The cars were actually in a white box. Well, one was. I got a great deal on the racer car because it didn't come with a box or certificate.
My advice: if it says "ornament" ANYWHERE in the title, don't get it. Also, look at the pictures. If it has a little eye hook in the steering wheel, it's an ornament and too small.
"Hallmark Kiddie Car Classics" is what you're looking for.

The racer type is also a little tighter fit than the boxy type cars. They fit, but you have to fiddle with the feet and I had to take my boy's shoes off to get him in there.

I almost got a fire engine first, but then saw the cop car and knew after seeing so many race cars, I had to get that (and a race car).
And definitely look for a deal! Many of the cars are mint in box and expensive.


Now I need to go look at scrapbook paper. You guys have such good ideas for personalizing the campers, I was just sparkly-eyed about getting one and didn't even think of changing anything! lol
And yet here I am, in a hobby that is all about customization!


re the campers: Oh, and if you only get one set of dishes and silverware, ask for the second set. It's listed on the contents as having two sets, they just missed that in shipping and are more than happy to send the second set. ^__^

 

I love the customization on your Glamper icicle, and it is a bonus you were able to do it so cheaply! I haven't had the opportunity to even open mine as I had to leave a day after I got back home for NJ. I checked he Target near my hotel tonight and they had 2 of the lofts and a few dolls and outfits. The camper was bad enough dragging through the airport and plane. No way I was going to attempt it with the loft! I haven't seen the car yet. I am impressed with all the items I have seen; very reasonably priced and sturdy.

My target doesn't have the loft, but I really want one. Stalking all of the targets in the area is in my future, I guess!

 

OK; I have figured out what Person I want to order. I have her named. I can't figure out how to place the layaway order. I know you download the form. But when I go to Checkout, the options are "Deposit Account" and PayPal. Paypal wants to take all the money right away and the order isn't completed since I cancelled out of the payment. I get an error I must enter a bank when I select "Deposit Account". Help; Madge's life depends upon it!

Edited to add --- I think I did the steps shown there for the layaway, and then just remitted the payment for the first 1/2 of my costs --- sent it as a paypal payment directly to secretdoll, referencing the order #. I hope someone else can chime in and give you a little more definitive help!

 

I wish we could make that post a sticky somewhere! Because that IS so confusing on the SD site. I remember panic and having to ask SD what to do.
They were very understanding and nice though!

Basically, you put Madge in your cart, go thru check out and select 'Bank' not paypal (which will charge the full amount at once as you noticed)as the form of payment.
It should go through.

Next, fill out the above form for 2 or 3 payments and go to Paypal directly. Make the first payment (40%) and copy&paste the form in the description area along with your name, address and SD ID name and order number. Hit send. Wait for confirmation email.

Go back to SD Q&A. Open up a new message, select 'Layaway' as the header. Copy in the form and write that the first payment has been made, your name, address, SD ID name. order number etc. I usually include the paypal transaction number too though I don't know if that helps. Hit 'write' to send.

SD should respond to your Q&A with confirmation of payment received. Repeat the paypal and Q&A message for each layaway payment.

Wow - love the customizations you've made to it, icicle! Came out beautiful and added even more of a retro feel to it! "Person Park" - lol! I was starting to think the same thing. Maybe we should all book now for Yellowstone next year.

Thank you for sharing all that great info, aernath! Despite it being more difficult for them to use, I do favor the race car because your boy looks so perfect in it. Times like this, I really wish I had gotten a boy, too.

I'm so excited to have found a loft on the way home from work today! My Persons are feeling suitably gratified at all of these new goodies!

 

Thanks icicle. Madge has booked her reservation for Ohio. She's already made much of her character known. And true to Personhood she has a list of "must haves." She is a Person 21. She's a chocoholic; so much so that she vapes chocolate mint! Though she is trying to cut back. She says she also needs her friends Mabel and Millie (Big Eye and Narrow Eye Person 21). Her glamper camper is waiting for her but after seeing Edie's she isn't going to be satisfied until she has had a makeover. Slippery slope and I've lost my footing.

happibug - Congrats on finding the loft! The problem with these goodies is that they are not boxed. Keeps the cost down I'm sure, but difficult to take on a plane! LOL!

 

I went target shopping in Columbus today & it was a jackpot as far as Lori OG. They had a loft, ballet studio, 3 cars, 3 campers, student desk set and 2 others I don't remember. Plus outfits. However, I had left my wallet at home by accident. So I only picked up the lawn chaise set. Because my dil paid for it!

 

Wow, they had a lot! I want to check out some of the furniture, I'll have to go back and see if any has arrived at my Target! Meanwhile, the Persons are having a great time in their loft and camper ... beers on the rooftop, etc.!
