Secretdoll - Picture Doll Person - discussion part 5

Hello dambuster01. Thank you very much for the warm welcome, and beautiful beautiful Valentine. Such sweet face. I absolutely love her. she looks sooo pretty in that tanned skin. So an only child huh? She must be spoiled. I wish I could be like you and just stay focused on one prima donna, but the problem is, with this little persons I CANT. I don't know why I find them to be so addictive. I seriously want them all. At least 4 if I have to cut back. ( or 5 if I can stretch it.) and you know, it's funny because all my other bjds I have what I consider 1 of each. Only 1 SD, 1 MSD, ( plus a Dollmore Alexia, who is kind of her own size, still on layaway) 1 YOSD which is also an anthro, so I can have a little of both worlds, 1 artist doll and 1 tiny. And that's it. But this rule might not apply to secretdoll persons and now I'm worried. Plus the way I see all of you spoiling them here makes me want to buy a mansion just for them.

 

I know what you mean Elizabeth as I've felt like this with some of my other BJDs and I've got carried away, for example at one time I had 8 Lati Yellows and am now down to 4, and I had 8 Volks Yosd's, (I'm currently at two with one of those up for sale), and I've had a bunch of MSDs at one time too. I tend to then feel sort of overwhelmed and wish I'd stuck with just a couple. So with Valentine, I thought I really would still to the one, then she is more special to me.....I find that if I get multiples of certain dolls because I've enjoyed the first one so much, it almost 'dilutes' my enjoyment of them. Having said that, I must say that when I had the two Persons previously, they worked very well together and did get up to all sorts of mischief that Valentine can only dream of doing on her own!!!
I hope you're able to get all the ones you want though and look forward to seeing them all on here

Wilsoooooonnnn ! I love him! So cute! Thank you aernath for posting his picture. Soooo cute and wonderfully tanned. And thank you dambuster 01 for your reply. I totally understand what you are saying, there are certain dolls that need to be exclusive in your life. I have one bjd that definitely feels like that to me. She feels completely diferent from any other and asks to be treated as such. She is a Bardo Research Mahi. I'd post a pic, but I don't want to get scolded by moderators because I don't know if shes off topic in these thread. But all I'm saying is, she's special. I bought her as a spiritual guide sort of character, very zen, very less is more. But I feel it is exactly because she never asks for anything, that I have the need to keep buying stuff for her. She now has a bed, a closet with 10 outfits and a couch and she just smiles and says she does not need it. Anyway, maybe my spoiled persons will end up robbing her of everything. And yes! You read correctly. I said persons, because as of today I have started my second layaway for a narrow eyed person 21 that should arrive in combined shipping with my NP 21. I just couldn't resist I'm obsessed. Oh well, layaway is my friend. And I swear I'll stop now until Secretdoll anounces a tan event.

Its true, you need a boy. I get excited to see peoples growing collections. What number person would you like to get as a boy?

 

By the way aernath i just checked out your etsy store. Awesome work! I love the shirts. I specially loved the Yosd designs, snoopy and star wars! Awesome. Though i think they would be large for our persons wouldn't they?

 

Awwwww! Thanks! But no, the YoSD is way big for these little guys. I'll have to check to be sure, but I think I did fit a Pipos Jr pi sized shirt on them.

I am still eyeballing the near Persons. I am liking the red one more and more! I need to stop looking!

 

I'm loving the activity in this thread. I recently received my Person 21 but I'm afraid my pictures are just box opening day and not post-worthy. I knew from the moment I ordered my Person 21 (Madge) that I wanted the narrow eyed Person 21 as well as the big eyed Person 21.

I commissioned 3 retro outfits, based upon Barbie outfits. Madge has a "Dinner at Eight" type outfit, a polka dot sundress, and a "Gone Fishing" type outfit with denim rolled hem pants and a red gingham check shirt. She lives in her Glamper camper. I don't have any shoes for her yet, though!

And Aernath, I too really like the new Person 21 in the red sweater. I already have 2 dolls on layaway; so I couldn't swing a new Person. I kind of have mixed feelings about the new Persons. I think the uniqueness of the Persons is due to their stylized features, or rather lack of features. The near Persons have more realistic features with that cute button nose. However, with their big noggin they still are in the Person class.

I am still unpacking from my move to my new house and busy with holiday decorating. I just don't have a place right now where I can take some post-worthy pictures.

 

@Elizabeth Maldonado - I took a quick shot to give you a better feel for size. ^_^ I find it difficult to imagine sizes by numbers, so take photos when I can.
My little YoSD sized boy on the left, and Wilson on the right. The shoes don't make thaaaat much difference.

@coleen - Ooooo! Sounds terrific! I hope the move-in goes well, and you find time to play with the dolls again soon!
The Nears are very different yet the same, aren't they? I was having trouble with them at first, but have grown to really like them.
And I think you're right, it's the overall sizes of head vs. body that really keeps them in the Person zone.
I hope/fear they will put out some tan Near boys.

 

Hey Coleen! Awesome to meet you! I understand you are moving and everything is in boxes, but after that detailed description of those incredible outfits, you must promise to post pictures some other time. Your Madge sounds amazing. Is she the open eyes version of person 21 or the narrow eyed? I just gave up after suffering over having to choose between the near person and the person because i really like them both equally, so in the end I just ordered one of each. (Maybe they want to be twins) These persons are really something different from any other bjd. They make demands before arriving at your house. Its addictive.

And Aernath, I say, go for it. I suggest layaway. The near persons are just too cute to pass up. If you can swing it, and it wont harm your family, give yourself a Christmas present. I need to stop shopping for these girls. My new proyect now will be building a diorama for them.

 

Hey Aernath! Thank you so much for that comparison pic. You are right. Persons would swim in YOSD clothes. Good to know. I hope Secretdoll waits a little while before ofering tan skin near person because I really really cant buy any more at the moment. Please let it be until next summer. I just stopoed agonizing over buying narrow eyed person 21.

 

Elizabeth Maldonado - Madge is the normal eye Person 21. I knew when I ordered her I also wanted the narrow eye and big eye Person 21. I have their names picked out - Millie and Mabel. And that was before the Near release! I am hoping for a tan event later too.

 

Well coleen I trully hope you can get all the persons you want very very soon. May this incoming new year bring you many happy dolly adquisitions. I too have two incoming new dolls and I am over the moon they will be arriving this next year. In the meantime i have begun buying all Im going to need to start building these persons their diorama. I want to make them beds and some furniture. I even want to learn to crochet to be able to make them clothes. I swear I dont know what it is about them but they really inspire me. I'm so thrilled to be making payments hahahaha.

Those moon dolls are so cool. If I'd had the money, a blue one would have come home here.
I like how they're both wearing stripes and checking each other out.
Catriona looks like she's saying: Can you wear any of my clothes? No? Good!

 

I love the picture astrosnik. I have never heard of moon dolls before but I am going to be checking them out. She looks amazing! I absolutely adore Catriona already! She is merely selective when it comes to making new friends.
