Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Selling dolls to buy new ones?

Feb 13, 2014

    1. i haven't yet, but my collection is at the point now where it is getting a bit unwieldy and i am planning to thin it out of the dolls i don't play with any more to make room for new ones. i don't have a problem with it at all, and have several dolls that i know i won't miss. i would have done this much sooner, but i have always been worried about selling a doll and then having it get lost or damaged in shipping and being out the money and the doll

    2. I'v never sell any dolls, for me they are like fimillies now, so I spend a lot of time to make the choice when I buy a new one.

    3. A year in this hobby and I've had a few impulse buys and if course have seen so many dolls I would rather have. I have sold a few of my dolls to acquire other ones. I haven't had a chance to develop characters for them so it wasn't so difficult for me to do. I think having what you really want outweighs the guilt and regret you might have about selling the ones you want. That's the case for me anyway.

    4. I don't think I could. All my dolls are well-thought-through purchases and I'm very attached to them. Maybe in the future if I feel I've made a mistake with one purchase, or I decide I don't want my family to get too big, I might sell one doll to buy another, but right now? No way. I'd be a puddle of regret forever.

    5. I've ended up selling (or trying to) all of my SD-sized dolls, so that I could buy Yo-sized dolls in stead. I didn't bond that well with the big ones, and as I am living in a dorm, the Yo-size is just handier. It hurt a little to sell my old holy-grail doll (PW FOC w.u. Cue), but I'll buy her again once I move and have more space I'm sure. XD

    6. that's the thing, unless the doll is a limited or discontinued you can always get it again if you find you made a mistake selling and really regret it. if not you have just made room in your life for dolls that fit better. i'd have to think really hard before selling a limited doll, but unless i was taking a big loss it wouldn't bother me to sell one that was just boxed up and never touched.

    7. I couldn't do it. :c
Then again, I only have one girl, my original grail, and two on the wishlist. BJDs aren't something I can impulse buy, cause I ain't rich, so I have to think long and hard and look at all the sculpts before I pick my dolls.

    8. I've done that since i don't create a character for a doll before hand i always do it after....and I always would have one doll just lying there without character because of reasons, like the face is not exactly the way i want it or just generally and they just sit in the box like a souless child. I found it meaningless to keep them so i might as well send them to better homes where they will actually receive love and attention, while of course i get money to buy my self a new doll.

    9. Story of my life!

    10. Only one of my guys was in impulse buy. And he was the only one who I ever nominated to sell, so I learned from that.
But the rest of my crew, I will never sell them. I'm just too attatched to them.
But I understand the reasons why other people sell their dolls very well.

    11. I can not think of ways to sell some of my girls ... = (
Not only to sell, but even swap dolls with my girlfriend.
They are for me - part of the family! You would be able to sell sister to buy a new one? =)
Maybe I'm too exaggeratedly relate to them.

But I can understand other people who sell their dolls.
