Several Heads for One Doll?

Jul 31, 2009

    1. One of my Brownies has a sleeping head which I swap over each night so she can sleep

    2. aww that's cute ^^

i bet i'ld end up doing similar with my boys ^^

    3. Exactly what I was thinking :), I'm currently working on an auburn wig for her and I'd like to get another head with a matching faceup. Right now, I'm strapped for cash, but the thought hasn't left my mind. I'll have to check out DOD's prices for their heads, I think it's a little over $100 which isn't too bad but with shipping & exchange it could cost a bit.

Thanks! I was sitting in bed late one night trying to sleep when I thought of it
      :P

I like how you've done it for your doll, and I agree with your last comment, I like to think of it as changing their 'makeup'

      Cute!

    4. I wouldn't mind doing it. At the very least I want to have Sleeping Heads for my girls some day. I'm also considering getting a PukiFee who would have both a PukiFee head and a Multihead.

    5. I've got a doll with two heads. One has a perfectly normal sweet faceup, the other has a pierrot-style faceup, meant to be her 'alter ego' somewhat. Pretty sure this won't be the only one in my collection either with an alter ego (thank you comic books ;D )

    6. While I think it's a cute idea I'd never do it myself for a couple of reasons. First of all, I hate changing heads, hurts my hands too much. And second the only rule I've been able to stick to since I started collecting these dolls is "no more than one of any sculpt." Sometimes that's hard to stick to but there are so many faces I love I can't justify the expense of buying more than one.

    7. I think it would be a great idea if you like to be able to change the over all feel or character of the doll.

    8. I used to have a spare sleeping head for my Elfdoll Red. Much for the reasons you listed (though I sold it because I never ended up using it). Now I have alternate heads for several of my dolls in order to change their expressions. ^__^

    9. Sincerely, I would never do this. My boys got their own personality and i would never have them if their face ups were not the way i want them. Needless to say, i'm really happy and satisfied with their looks that having another head of the same mold with a different face up would just weird me out O.o I would, however, change their wigs (all my boys have fur wigs and non-fur wigs, each of their default color that they use from time to time) I don't like to change their eyes either, because, like I said before, they have their own personality established.

Also, I tried having twins before and it didn't work out so i know that this idea is not for me xD

    10. I have been thinking about (in the future when money magically appears) buying a second head for my doll. Her character is a half human half like woodsy nymph thing. I would love for her to have a complete secondary "personality" like a human side and a nymph side. Same head with way different makeup and eyes and wig.
In case she gets in a "mood" or something. ;)

    11. she sounds lovely ^^ i hope you create her / embody her ^^

    12. i'm the opposite, i LOVE twins and have had several sets of twins (non-identical) and a set of identical twins (conjoined: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109709&highlight=siamese). I'm not big on having several heads for one body/character just because i'm too lazy to change heads and i HATE having loose heads rolling around. I don't mind faceplates though and i suppose i'd consider having multiple faceplates for a doll :bcake

    13. I totally am going to do this. It's a great idea, but I'm only doing one open eyed and one sleepy/less opened eyed doll for each of the ones that I would like to buy. At least if the option is available to get both types of heads. If not then...Well I couldn't.

    14. If I could I would get multiple heads for my dolls, at least one awake(which they already have) and one asleep and maybe ones in between. I love the look of sleeping dolls so much but unfortunatel none of my girls come as sleeping dolls. I may someday buy duplicate heads and commision someone to mod them for me. <3

    15. I'm actually doing something similar with a couple of my dolls. I'm working on 2 heads for my elf boy Tai this week. His main head is going to be an AOD Jimi version 2 (open eyed) head. I'm going to give that head a cute, mischievous looking face up. His secondary head will be the original Jimi head (dreamy eyed). That head will get a tough, almost pissed off looking face up. Both heads will share a wig and eyes.

Sam is my other doll that will have 2 heads. Sammael is the Angel of Death. He is able to change his appearance depending on the soul he is guiding to the afterlife. He appears as fierce looking horned creature with pointed ears and yellow slitted eyes when escorting the damed to hell. For this look, I used a Soom Sard head. When he escorts the saved to heaven, he looks like a beautiful man with gold eyes and a halo. I'm going to go with a Soom Dia head for this look. The 2 heads will share a wig but have different eyes.

I realize that in the case of my 2 dolls the heads are technically not the same sculpts therefore making this a bit different from what the OP was talking about doing. Even so, I figured that since they are variations of the same molds, this was worth mentioning.

    16. I'm thinking of getting another head for my first doll. I love him, but I've bought more advanced dolls since then. I'll keep his head, and I'll still be using his body, so it will be somewhat like giving him new life while not scrapping him completely.

    17. I've got a new head coming that will be sharing the body of another doll because it's more economical.
The only problem/difference is that the new head (and new pair of hands) will be dyed black, and be on a normal skin body. So I'm currently in the process of making her some clothes that will cover her entire body, so you can't tell...:sweat

    18. I used to have two Lishe heads (awake and dreaming), but I put both heads on separate dolls, and they became two dolls.

Lately, I've been thinking of selling a lot of doll bodies and keeping only one or two, and just rotating the heads I have. I want so many dolls because each of the faces is so unique and beautiful, but I can't pay attention to more than one or two dolls at a time. So, I feel like if they all shared the body in turns, I could really take the time to give each one the attention they deserve, one at a time.

But they wouldn't be the same "doll" persay. The faces all look too different.

    19. I think this idea makes complete sense I'm always afraid that when I get my doll if I change her well what if I miss what I use to have and can't get the results back. I would definitly consider getting more then one head.

    20. I love the idea of different expressions for my dolls, but absolutely hate changing heads. That is why I have multiple face plates for my Unoas, and think about getting more faceplates for my Narae.
