Not really. Shoes aren't very important to me and that translated over to my dolls. Demetri will wear whatever shoes he wants with whatever outfit, since his outfits are simple they'll match no matter what.

Not often haha!

Depends on the doll and what style of clothing they wear? Fancy outfits need a lot of fancy shoes, simple street clothes not so much. *shrug*

Two pairs. Mihr doesn't wear shoes, so all the shoes are Demetri's right now. XD

I will try to find the suitable shoes for matching the clothes. The no. of clothes is much more than the shoes....... so one pair of shoes will works for several outfits XD

Not very often... I think may be 2 months a pair? I'm now starting to produce the shoes by myself, it really takes me so much time for producing.

Haha... It's so hard to say... XD I think the no. of shoes should be equal to the no. of clothes they have.

I have one doll, and two pairs of shoes for him : ) One pair came free. He usually only wears the free pair, because the ones I picked are a bit fancy *shrug* I don't know how many pairs of shoes a doll should have, that's really up to the owner ^^

I have shoes that work with many outfits. But I also have boughten shoes for a specific outfit too.

I have two dolls: Erik -65 cm, it has two shoes, it was my first bjd, Hwang and I-70 cm, he has three shoes, the feet are different sizes, so do not share shoes. Every week I change their clothes to depend on them I change the shoes, if I could buy spates quite different, but .....

5SDs have got 12 pairs of shoes they can share and a woman-doll has got 5 high-heeled pairs.
3MSDs have got 12 pairs they can share and a girl-doll has got 4 girly pairs.
1YoSD has got 8 pairs.

I buy more or less universal style shoes. Some shoes are for special outfits, but mostly not.

1 tiny- 1 pair (but she's an anthro and doesn't really like shoes)

I adore shoes for myself and tiny shoes are even more awesome. I think I love shoes more than the dolls sometimes, and I'll probably start collecting SD high heels that I love. Some of the shoes are neutral enough to go with anything, others are very specific and only work with certain outfits. My doll's wardrobe is mostly mix and match pieces anyway, so there's always something new to wear.

3. How often do you change your doll's shoes?
A lot, but each doll has a favorite pair they always seem to find an excuse to wear, and one of them is the only one able to stand in a certain pair, so she's the only one that wears them.

*shrug* I don't talk about or worry about 'ideals' for much of anything, let alone a hobby that is so individual. I will have as many pairs of doll shoes as I fall in love with and have the money to buy.

When I first got her, she only had around three pairs because it was difficult to find shoes for slim minis. When I got my mnfs shortly after, the shoe thing exploded (since their feet are really close in size and they can share shoes).

I only have one doll at present, and she has two pairs of shoes.

I have a few more outfits than I do shoes for my doll, but she doesn't have many outfits to begin with. The shoes she has are fairly neutral, so they work with everything she already has. I bought neutral shoes so they would work with many outfits.

The brand of shoes she has are made to be worn with socks, and I don't have any socks for her right now. So she actually doesn't wear her shoes, because when I put them on her they usually fall off, or look really weird.

As many as they need! Some dolls personalities require a pair of shoes for every outfit. Others, like my doll, only need a few basics and they're good to go. It's really up to the type of doll and the owner.

Just one boy and he has 5 pairs of shoes. Four of the pairs are girly shoes though. I will definetly buy more shoes in the future.

I don't think its too important, so far, her boots work with most of the clothes she has, her running shoes are strictly for her gym time.

One of my dolls (the Yo-SD) has a tail instead of feet, so she doesn't have shoes at all.
One (SD) has two pairs of shoes and a pair of flipflops.
And the third one (In between size MSD/SD) only has one pair yet, since she has a very weird shoesize.. It's hard to find shoes in her size.

Well, my dolls don't have that many different outfits, haha. But since my MSD wears black shoes, it goes with several outfits.
My SD has a white and pink pair. And since she only wears white and pink, that works.

Wow.. that really depends. I think that when you change the outfit, you have to pick shoes that fit. I mean, a complete red outfit with yellow shoes, could look really weird.

My first doll is the SD, and like I said, she has two pairs of shoes en one pair of flipflops

Two, one MSD and one 70cm. There's one pair of shoes for Amser and none for Noire.

I should think that one pair would do for at least 2 or 3 outfits.Shoes aren't quite as important as clothes in my opinion, as I often go barefoot myself!

I've not counted shoes - I have 32 BJD's (I think - I lose track, having a house fullof allsorts of different types of dolls). Many of my BJDs with the same size feet share shoes, although most of them have one or two pairs that are theirs alone. One boy has bigger feet than the others so his five pairs of shoes are his alone (more when I find styles I like that fit him).

Likewise my Minis and slim minis can share and have a couple of smaller boxes of shoes between them... and the same with the other sizes.

Shoes are important - the right shoes to go with the right style of outfit.

Most of my gang are dressed in old-fashioned/vintage (Victorian/Edwardian, or classic "old-fashioned" styles, sometimes older historical) styles and the wrong shoes can spoil an entire outfit -which is why I have so much trouble finding shoes inn the right styles - so many BJD shoes have clunky soles, even when the uppers are in the right style. Even the thinner soles on a lot of BJD shoes are out-of-proportion for the older styles of clothing I want to pair them with... frequently I buy shoes intended for other types of dolls with similar sized feet because the scale/proportion is better (and often they are cheaper). I try to go for colours and styles of shoes and boots that will work with several outfits, although some special outfits have specific shoes that go with them

As many as they need so they go with each outfit the doll has. If the shoes go with several outfits then the number of pairs of shoes is fewer, of course. But my dolls all dress in roughly similar styles so I need enough shoes in each size grouping for each of them to have appropriate shoes for the outfits they're in.

When I first got him?... or now?

He came with a pair of boots - once I had him and knew what size was needed I could start getting more. He has pretty standard SD size feet so can share with my other boys, although he has several pairs of shoes that are specifically his (the initial boots, some antique doll shoes that go with his 18th Century suit etc.).

70cm: 1 male
1/3 scale: 12 female 47 male
1/4 scale: 2 female, 2male
1/6 scale: 1 female, 4 male
1/12 scale: 1 male

Total number of shoes: Not as many as you might think with that kind of horde... Many of mine are in traditional dress and just don't wear them regularly. Four of my guys (Rowan & T'tomi, who are Soom SGs, and Morro & Davi, who are Soom Tinies) wear hooves, so shoes are completely out of the question for them.

Over all, I counted 30 wearing shoes right now. Somewhat less than half. There are about two dozen more pairs in the "shoe box", skewed pretty heavily towards modern, 1/3-scale female styles and assorted boots.

Very few of my crew have shoes that are exclusive to them... The exceptions being Issun (my Banji) and Palrah (my Akando), who are the only dolls their size. Pretty much everyone else can (and does-) share within their general size group.

Some outfits have specific shoes that match them, others don't... and how important that is depends entirely on the outfit in question. I really can't give a general answer, because there's no "universal circumstance" over here.

When I put them in an outfit that needs them... and that, too, varies quite a bit. Some dolls I change every week or two, others may stay the same for months.

More than he really needed since he's one of the dolls who very rarely wears them.
Harumatsu started out with three or four pairs, I think, all of which are still here in the "general collection".

As many as they need for the style and look you're trying to accomplish. That may be a dozen different pairs or none at all... It depends entirely on what you're after.

Tabby (Tiny) has 9-10 pairs of shoes, Toreth (MSD) has three, and Leo (Yo-SD) has only one.

No way! Tabby has at least 50 dresses, shirts, and pants (most are from other 8 inch dolls I had before BJDs), and both Toreth and Leo have more clothes than shoes.

Tabby, whenever I change her outfit I like to put new shoes one, Toreth doesn't usually wear shoes since none of her pairs fit right, and poor Leo never gets any love or outfit changes.

As many as she/he wants! I definitely want more, especially for Toreth!

She has either 9 or 10 pairs. 2 sneakers, 2 slippers, 3 boots, sandals, flip flops... and possibly a few that I'm forgetting.

 

I'm really stingy on shoes for some reason. I only have 3 pairs between my two dolls, and they're constantly being interchanged.

 

I am not sure I qualify since I am still waiting on my first (ahem and second) BJD but currently... they have no shoes

Up until now I have only collected Blythe dolls. Between the 11 of them they probably have 30+ pairs of shoes and I recently sold a lot of them.

The funny thing is... they are always barefoot so I am assuming my latis will be too. I was always losing one here or there and having to retrace my steps to find it so I just stopped bothering. If I put some on for a photo, they come right back off and go back in the shoe box after it.

I have 11 dolls. Only two of them have shoes, my little girls Aithne & Josephine

To me the clothing is more important, only when my doll has his/her perfect outfit do I start even looking for shoes.

I have one MSD and four tinies at home. For the MSD I have three pair of shoes and for the tinies I have eight pairs.

That depends on their size. The bigger the doll, the more important the shoes are. You don't find many types of shoes for tinies, so naturally they have less. Bigger dolls have a great variety of shoes and I like shoes, so I keep buying more.

Again it depends. My tinies tend to wear the same shoes all the time, because it often match all the outfits I have for them. My MSD can wear a lot of different outfits which calls for different shoes. So with MSD it's almost everytime she changes outfit.

Depending on size, MSDs and SDs should, in my opinion, have lots and lots of shoes, tinies maybe a couple.

One pair. I wasn't that much into buying clothes and shoes in the beginning. That changed drastically.

I have 4 MSD's and 1 SD (who doesn't have shoes yet so I won't count him in). They all share the 6 or 7 pairs of shoes I have, although they have a 'favorite' pair that suits their style and feet best.

Not that important, if I make a new outfit I don't go out looking for shoes to match them. I just work with what I have and that's usually enough ^^

As often as I change their clothes, which is maybe one every three, four weeks. Sometimes they don't wear shoes for a while if I can't find a matching pair for their outfit.

To be honest, I think each doll should at least have 1 pair of shoes, or you should have at least two basic pairs for the whole crew if they can share. Usually a black pair, a white pair, and some casual sneakers should do. But really, it depends on the doll's style.

Three pairs, to be exact! They were sold together second-hand so it was a bit of a bargain, but my dolls still use them.
